  • Northern sea otters have a natural habitat that reaches from Washington to the Alaskan coastline. Introducing ice in play helps keep otters cool and simulates what they may encounter in their habitat’s arctic waters. In addition, chewing on ice simulates the hard shells of their diet in the wild, which includes clams, mussels, crabs, and other marine invertebrates. Chewing on ice also promotes good oral health by helping to keep their teeth clean! Enjoy a moment of play in which Denali, our oldest northern sea otter pup, seizes and frees ice from its vessel and claims the frozen booty for herself!
