As a general good rule the fish farm can be managed like this:
Every new day, in the morning, before diving, you go at the fish farm
Check every tank (all the new fish are born then)...see if you are above full capacity (red and over 100%)...if so pay for another "slot" of more capacity in that particular tank
Scroll every type of fish and if there are more than 2 of that decide if you wanna sell or transform those into sushi...sell or send to the restaurant EVERY fish except the last 2 of each type (so they can "regenerate" the next day)
NOTE: pay attention that the fish can be of 2 qualities (2-3 stars)...sell or eat FIRST the best quality, and leave 2 of the worst quality in the tank (is more efficient in terms of money or meat gained)
In the endgame have fun to complete your collections of "couples" in all the tanks (dont forget to upgrade the capacity so they always stay under 100% AFTER the new fish are born at the beginning of the day)...some are particularly hard to have 2... :)
Thanks for the tips above. So do the fish not multiply faster if you have more of them? Also do 2 stars grow into 3 stars. Do 3 stars give birth to only 3 stars? So confused lol.
@@rambojazdude3023 the problem in leaving more than 2 fishes constantly is that the next day the tank is already at max capacity from the fish you left the previous days and you dont get more fish...so is better to "clean/farm" them every single day.
Also...when you are late in the game and you have food receipts that give you a lot o money you can get rid of the "couples" of fish that are in the receipts with less value...you will not sell them anyway so is useless to accumulate fish there, and you free the tanks so more valuable fish can grow.
I have not seen a direct correlation with fish that has less or more stars regarding how they grow in numbers...seems random to me...so is better to always "farm" the fish that has more stars and leave the less valuable...the next day you will create 3 stars fish anyway, even if the previous day you only leave a couple that is both 2 stars only...dont worry about that.

@@rodmaiquez726 I've done some testing. Sold all my fish apart from 2 of each. They multiplied about the same rate as if I left many of them in the tank.

Just to add another thing I have noticed (please do correct me if I am wrong). If fishes which are caught/killed underwater produces multiple types of meat, for example Bluefin/Yellowfin Tuna that gives Akami, Chutoro and Ootoro (if caught alive as a 3 star) when hunted, in the fish farm, only Akami is given regardless of quality.
I was trying to farm for more Ootoro so I waited till the day where a 3 star tuna appeared in my fish farm and it didn't change the quantity :(. While this is alright with Tuna, where with a steel net gun you can capture multiple alive and send them up with only one drone, I kinda feel like this will make Whitetip Reef Shark HEAD farming really tedious if you're going for a max upgrade everything completion since you'll need about 221 shark heads.

I have caught like 15 live bluefin tuna and the little %%#@$#$'s are holding out on eggs.
I could be completely in the wrong here, but I believe in addition to the net gun and drone, you can also get fish eggs just from harpooning. But using a normal gun makes it way less likely to get eggs.
As I mentioned you can get them from hunting and killing any fish in any way, but the chances don’t seem to be clear as of right now
I've caught many sailfish and Greenland sharks alive. Almost every day, but they just do want to drop eggs. Must be a veryow drop rate for them.

Yeah. I fixed this in future content. Added spoiler warnings if there was something to be spoiled. And stopped using content that didn’t fit the topics :)
One important note on the fish alive > gives eggs: Putting large fish to sleep and using the drone has been the same effectiveness as sleep or net is on small fish for me. You need the last upgrade of the dart gun to do this though.
I actually made a guide on this and the fish actually can be killed and give eggs. I tested the theory a few times. Thought the chance is increased on live fish.
Otto specifies in the beginning that Some Fish have to be caught alive to give eggs. Not all. But it is confusing because it doesn’t list which ones sadly.
how are the middle and right side tanks on the bottom row unlocked? played through story and most of all quests and theyre locked

do you know if having more than 1 pairing will breed more? e.g. will having 6 tuna instead of 2 give more tuna the next day or is it completely random amount?
That I’m unsure of. I would assume multiple pairs would generate more fish. But I’m not certain on that.

Thanks for the video! I've been wondering about the fish farm mechanics.
A couple extra questions I had:
- Do we know why density sometimes goes over 100%? It's a bit confusing to me
- Do we know how many fish reproduce per night? And if we have 2+ fish of a kind, is it 100% guaranteed that they reproduce overnight (having space left in the pool)? I feel like it's a bit random
As a sidenote I noticed you used footage from a boss battle, I had to look away because I didn't want to get spoiled since I wasn't up to that part yet 😅Maybe it can be good to only show footage from the game that players have already seen when unlocking the fish farm. Still a great video though, keep it up! ❤
it goes over 100% because most likely the game at the beginning of each day just checks, that the tank is not full (above 100%) and then calculates for all fish pairs how many new fish they create and puts them into the tank without checking for space. Otherwise, the game would need a more complex algorithm to decide which fish will procreate. And yes, it's probably random. And just because you have 2 does not mean they procreate each night.
Great vid. Do the 2 star fish grow into 3 star? If not, do the 3 star fish only breed 3 stars? I'm a bit confused on this as I can't find a guide that goes into it.
Seems basically random to me.
if you have 2 fishes (regardless of 2 or 3 stars) the next day you can find more fishes with a probability like 15%/85% (3/2 stars)
also:
Not all couples produce something the next day (this seems random too)
And usually small fishes produce a lot of "kids" in a single day while big fishes produce only a few...

@@rambojazdude3023 from what I have experienced, more than 2 fishes of the same kind change absolutely nothing.
They actually are a problem, as I said, if the tank is not big enough and they are going to create an over 100% situation for the next day.

Is density determined by the number of fish you have, or how big the fish are, or a combination of both?

@@imthejuggernautbitch7142 it doesn’t seem like size or weigh affects it as I’m looking into it. But still not 100% sure. It doesn’t show their size or weight in the tank. Which makes me lean toward that not mattering.
from my understanding, you can have 50 small fish, where as you cant store 50 sharks.. size matters ;)
if i have one type of fish and I am trying to add a 2nd so it can mate...how do you do that? I have captured another but don't know how to put them in (please explain how to do this with pc by controller)
So you get fish eggs by chance. There isn’t a way to add them in manually at this point in the game. When you kill or catch any fish, there’s a chance it gives you eggs that automatically get sent to your pond at the end of the dive.

You can catch sharks. It comes automatically while progressing the story, when you unlock the drone.
Another tip for sharks: You dont need to wait for the final tranq/net gun upgrade or find the Toy Hammer to start catching them live. Just upgrade the Triple Axel to the tranq version (requires 3 cuttlefish rare drops so get farming). It has a 40% chance to sleep anything like the Toy Hammer, and thats per dart so the Axel has 40*3%. Just remember to have drones on standby

Have you noticed that some fishes tend to breed a bit more than others? Been trying to collect fish that are common for events to see if I can stock pile meat. Maybe the devs will add mechanics that can boost reproduction for certain types of fish in the future.
Haha trying to get everything out while I can since I finished the game up. But yeah I hope they add that in. It is nice to know all of the events too. I’m going to do an event guide so people know what to stockpile. But I did notice some breed much quicker than others , yes

You can have 2 of everything...I never saw limits, if you improve the capacity of the tanks (finished the game)...

Only sad thing about the game is, then you have beat final boss, you don't have anything to play for. You can still run for sushi bar, but for what reason? I have maxed out anything. It's a problem with all games like this. You grind and upgrade eventually for nothing

I was worried that I would have to have the fish net gun to catch fish alive and get eggs. I haven't been able to craft it yet. It seems hard to find in the gun containers when I search them.
