    Ive done many of those radius arm bushes on trailers....one side of the trailer would have adjustable radius arms ,so that you could adjust the alignment of the axles...had to press fit the bushes into the radius arms ...

    I just did the suspension bushings on my old Pete. The first one was the worst, after that I found the easy way. Big impact, big hammer , big torch.

    Have you seen the wheel stud installer that is a bearing with an area for the lig nut to sit in. They work really good for installing studs and they come in a few different sizes.

    they sell a bearing to pull in studs, the handle on your tire gun is 90 degrees off, i looked at my cat settings and your e model should be set to .027, buy a set of the swivel impact universal sockets for just this situation, if you anti seize the rubber mating areas it helps them come off later also, if you use this truck for logging it will need rebushed, how did the grease get on the brake shoe, not good. best of luck on the pivot bushing.

    • @JamesPretty
      @JamesPretty  4 місяці тому

      Are you referring to the Jake setting? If so it’s .030 for a 435 horse according to the Jake manual.

    • @youtubeisawesome2487
      @youtubeisawesome2487 4 місяці тому +1

      @@JamesPretty per cat manual its .027, the .030 is for a acert cat,. if they are weak reset if not motor on.

      The only problem I see is with the nut behind the steering wheel. I don’t think that you’ll find any driver willing to drive for hire a truck with an all steel suspension in this day and age ! It’ll be hard to find shippers willing to load freight on a non air ride truck too. I started driving in the eighties with a ‘76 Autocar S-64TF, 300 hp first gen NT-855 big cam Cummins, 5&4 Spicer tween stick, air starter, no brakes on the steer axle and “armstrong” steering with a huge 22” steering wheel. That thing was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think and rougher than a rodeo bull ride, but that’s how trucks were back then ! The Yukon roads and the Dalton Highway in AK didn’t help much with the ride either ! LOL

    • @JamesPretty
      @JamesPretty  4 місяці тому +2

      @@hereintranzit first I wouldn’t put a driver in this truck. Second it ride better than the fld’s on airliner

      @JamesPretty I’d drive “Crystal” if it was possible. Some guys just aren’t cut out for us old school guys like me back in the day when my neighbors had a few in their heavy duty tow fleet. With that wheel base on “Crystal”,…she couldn’t ride all that bad anyways

  • @cabovermike
    @cabovermike 4 місяці тому +1

    Try “quenching” it’s were you heat up a stubborn nut/bolt red hot and then quench it with cold water, I’ve seen even u bolts come undone useing this method,.and this was way before air/electric hammer gun/tools,.

  • @hereintranzit
    @hereintranzit 4 місяці тому +1

    Dude, the only time you seem to not mess with these old trucks it’s when your sitting in the left seat of that triple seven at 30K to 40K feet altitude on intercontinental flights, right? LOL
    I guess that truck addiction could be kinda like opioid addiction. Just as expensive but legal and much less self destructive, right? LOL

    Those parts are giving you so much hell it would be just as easy to make it an 8 bag air ride or even a pete 4 bag system...

    • @JamesPretty
      @JamesPretty  4 місяці тому

      I have an 8 bag cutoff but I’m not ready to do that

    • @tracymiller1881
      @tracymiller1881 4 місяці тому

      It may sound silly to you but when you get ready (I know it sounds like a lot of work) un bolt the spring ride (here comes the work) weld all the extra holes that you don't need shut of course after you set the eight bag up and see what you can already use and drill to fit. I know it sounds terrible but it is a good way to do it.
