To my knowledge, Arrowhead has not acknowledged this issue and I haven't seen any clear evidence the recent fire dot change affected it. Fun fact, this morning i did a bug campaign on 9, 50+ squadmates, all threee using that fire spewing trash....I died a total of 2 times, both due to burning from friendly fire. Every single mission i killed at least twice if not 3 times as many bugs as the second highest killcount. Breaker is the the best gun, and since someone was ps5 buffing, railgun is the best support weapon for that scenario. Granted personal experience might be a big factor (im 120) but still, there is absolutely no circumstance i would choose to reduce my TTK on trash mobs just for some fire effects with high risk of actively hurting my team.
I feel the same, the regular breaker alpha dmg is more valuable since most of the time you can't afford to sit and watch bugs burn, you want them dead asap. Also, all who comment "skill issue" without any further arguments most likely never played anything past difficulty 7 :)

I'm not a huge fan of the incendiary, the dot damage is nice but when i spam shotgun pellets in the face of whatever wants to eat me, i want them to die now, not in 2 seconds from fire damage. Overall though i prefer the punisher to both, it doesn't have the crazy damage output of the breaker but the ammos are much easier to manage, it knocks back the thing that i shoot and is, in my opinion, the most satisfying gun to shoot, which is arguably the best metric when choosing a gun in a game.
@takibo have you been getting your metals for major orders on PC? I'm a ps5 player and haven't received metals for the last 3 major orders. I get the daily order metals as usual. New subscriber here, really liking the content 😎👍 Have a good one!
I think that another thing to consider is that the incendiary should raise the effectiveness of the worst case scenario. All your pellets don’t hit perfectly but the burn damage allows you to stay more consistent with overall damage output. Which is a benefit I think.
I get teamkilled so many times by this thing. One pellet seems to be enough to set you on fire. If you don't dive immediately, you are dead. Even a stim doesn't help.
One thing to mention about the incendiary breaker is that (up until previous patch, unsure if fixed) DOT damage like GAS and fire against enemies (not other players) ONLY work for the host player. This makes any damage over time weapons significantly worse (unless you are hosting the game yourself)
The increased spread can be an advantage at longer ranges against groups as it can apply DoT to multiple targets and give you a higher aggregate DPS with parallel damage.
I've primarily used incend breaker against bugs, and it was fantastic before the buff. I see you're laying into single targets on occasion like it's the regular breaker. What I do is pepper the groups with shot to get the fire dots on them, which happens instantly with a single pellet hit, then dance around and maybe use a strat or secondary on other targets. The fire does the work, but you have to re-tag them every 5-6 seconds. For instance, I see at 7:00 you had a couple rounds in the mag and an eye-poppingly satisfying group that could have been all lit up with 3 or 4 sprinkles of incendiary that woulda chewed that group up for like 15 kills no joke. Breaker incendiary shot rains down on the target more than it drives into it-- it has short range, and you can use that to your advantage to really carpet an area.
Against striders, I actually found that the incen breaker ricochets so hard that shooting at any parallel surface will usually get a single pellet on the pilot; killing them near instantly with the fire.
I use the incendiary breaker purely for crowd control. Anything with armor gets shot down with the autocannon including the brood commanders and chargers. It's so effective at crowd control that I take it to helldive on bugs.
Agree- when you pull out the shotgun and you want something dead NOW, The Normal Breaker is more reliable still. Only reason I prefer it so far. Otherwise both are fun to use and powerful for primaries.
The spread on the Incendiary Breaker is more of a perk than it is a detriment. It's gimmick is it lights things on fire. You don't want a concentrated cone of pellets all hitting the same target because at that point, you might as well be using the Slugger. You're wanting to spread the chance of conflagration as much as possible. The Incendiary Breaker CAN kill enemies with raw damage, but it's main goal is to burn them. You're much better off spraying into a crowd aiming to get as many as possible than you are trying to focus 1 enemy down, save it be the case that you're up against a medium enemy. Medium being hive guards, brood commanders, devastators, and beserkers. Yes the Strider Scouts are medium enemies but they carry heavy medium frontal armor, so that's cracked. It really is heavy medium (not heavy, but stronger than medium) because you can't punch through it with the updated JAR-5 Dominator, Counter Sniper Diligence, Senator, or Liberator Penetrator.
it's both, it does limit it's range for the heavier enemies but especially for bugs that's not really a problem. for things like shooting shriekers or other light enemies that come in bunches it's greats though.
I love how the weapon balancing has been going. Most weapons feel like they have a purpose now, and I enjoy having to consider the strengths and weaknesses of my primary and support choices, instead of "bring this because it do big number". Now if the blitzer could get some love...
I was a slugger user until it got nerfed, so recently I’m been playing with the incendiary breaker. Personally I think it’s a lot better then the normal breaker mainly because of the extra bullets you and the fact that you can one shot hunter at any range if they start burning (not sure if burn is 100% chance or not) I mainly play solo helldive, haven’t really used it in squads. But I think both guns are really strong options and it mainly comes down to preference and play style
Other things ro mention are that 1. Breaker is full auto while Incendiary is burst or semi auto. Spam firing the Incendiary will still give you about the same RoF though. 2. Being a contoller player, the incendiary breaker is easier since the spread is greater and I don't need to flick my reticle around as much or aim as precisely to kill hunters compared to the breaker.
Awesome breakdown man! I'd love to see a test of the Jar-5 Dominator after the changes as well. A lot of people seem to compare it directly with the Scorcher with the same capacity, fire rate, and ability to take out some of the tougher enemies
Bunch of comments here and there saying fire and gas DoT working or not working. Maybe it's a crossplay issue like the railgun bile titan one shot issue before?
This gun is capable of downing an entire Raider (Infantry Bot) with just one pellet thanks to the fire damage. It burns through a Raider's entire health bar by itself, so you can snipe them and kill em. Absolutely insane.
Hey, I've watched all your Helldivers videos and I always see you open the escape pod (the one you need to salute) without moving. Is there a reason why you're not cancelling the salute with a move command? Just feels weird for someone playing as fast as you :D
The Breaker Incendiary is the close range horde clearer, while the regular Breaker is the more all-purpose weapon. Both are top tier options against bugs currently. The real question is what the hell the point of the Spray & Pray is, lol.
It's def an oversight, but I wish only player made fires got buffed. That's just me though, cause hulks getting said buff, especially the fire tornado hazards really kill fast. Like real fast if you're not too careful, but the fire tornadoes kinda make sense more imo
I use both and the only noticeable thing is the ammo count. Regular breaker seems to shoot concentrated better which takes down light armor better. You can spray a crowd easier with incendiary.
A key component you didn't mention which is fair because you did state this is from a solo perspective is the fact that the sheer increase in number of enemies when in multiplayer. The incendiary is just straight up better for mowing down the massive hordes of chaff than the regular breaker because of the buffed fire dot and the nearly double mag size especially if you bring anti armor support weapons. That said the regular breaker is still amazing if your support weapon is meant for add clearing, giving you a much better oh shit button than any of the pistols. The real downside to the incendiary in my opinion is how easy it is to accidentally team kill with it now. You will barely be alive if you dive in light armor from full health and you have to dive because the dot will kill you faster than the stim animation.
incendiary breaker with a guard dog and gas strikes can rack up some insane kill counts. You’ll need something to deal with heavies but it’s a hell of a fun loadout
The gas strike is extremely good to drop on breaches and kills fabricators and holes. I regularly get 40+ KS with just the gas, CBs get up there but not anywhere near as often and cant damage spawners.
@@thedonstandsalone7488 I get huge killstreaks all the time with cluster bombs and I can use them many more times than gas strike. It's not even a close competition, my man.
It dishes out more damage overall but assuming you don’t mash your Breaker the damage is less over time. The base breaker is more useful for just spamming shooting albeit barely while the incendiary is for using slowly and over crowds.
@@Perfection-ish I tested it a couple days ago and it's still happening to me. Dropped into a mission solo, fire damage from the incendiary breaker was working fine. A friend joined on me, we backed out to the ship. A couple randoms joined me, and in the next mission the fire damage wasn't working even though I was squad leader.
Personally prefer the incendiary over the normal breaker (Solo POV). It is far greater than the Breaker at medium range. Higher spread and burn ticking dmg. It will be 1-2 shots hunters just like the normal breaker up close, and will do far better the further away the enemy is. It also has a higher magazine size to combat patrol of hunters without needing to switch to sidearm and does well in shooting and run on bug breaches or clusters of enemies because of the burn effect. It doesn't go well against spewers or brood commanders, but utilizing grenades against those enemies assists the weaker upfront damage. The less damage does make it less versatile though. I have thoroughly enjoyed the incendiary gun against Terminids, however, when I spawn on a map with heavy spewers I certainly feel like abandoning the mission. It's definitely a loving gun, with good dmg, and good magsize. Just doesn't feel fit for highly populated spewers or hiveguard for that matter.
Dominator takes it over both of these. It has long range ability with explosive and medium armour penetration. The down side is it kicks like a mule, but if you control between shots it’ll one shot most things, 2-3 shot everything else.
the breaker and breaker incendiary feel in a similar place to the dominator and scorcher to me where they're both really good for bugs and bots respectively and are just a little different enough to be good at different things. like dominator is so good for destroyers now but scorcher is still so much better for cannon turrets, tanks, and walkers
Breaker Incendiary feels officially OP after this update. Also the Breaker Spray and Pray was kinda viable before this update to deal with hordes, but now Spray and Pray is fully outshined by Incendiary and doesn't have any place in the game tbh.
Remember 500kg not being able to 1 shot bile titans? Apparently if you destroy its bile sack or whatever it takes alot more damage, it got 1 shotted by a orbital railcannon strike
This pretty much falls along the lines of how I thought, with the Breaker boasting more immediate killing power where the Incendiary Breaker is best used when you let the Fire DoT do its thing. This has gotten me interested in potentially trying out the Breaker S&P against bugs, as it seems very similar in feel. Yeah, the Incendiary Breaker is technically it's upgrade because FIRE, but I feel like it'll give me an idea about its feel before spending hard-earned Super Credits, particularly with the new Warbond coming in with a lot of interesting things.
The question for me is, In the time between shot and death by fire, how many times do the enemies get to attack you? Im not using my primary for DPS but for burst damage.
Been using the incendiary breaker as my primary bug killing weapon before patch. I didn't think it really need a buff but ill take it if it means i can take more enemies down.
For total rounds you forgot to count the mag in the weapon. It's actually 175 and 104 rounds in total. For me - being a noob - it's +1 for incendiary version. Way less annoying to miss half of the shots. :D
What's the spray and pray supposed to do anymore with the incendiary breaker only having 1 less round per mag, doing more damage per shot, and catching stuff on fire?
what if you shoot the brood commander in the legs? that's what I usually do with them cuz they can still get you without a head, but not so much without the legs (sometimes you just have this mangled torax (it's a torax with isects right?) with one or 2 legs crawling around XD )
Bro love your vids, btw can you make a video talking about the new warbound when it releases, I think it gots many interesting things like that grenade pistol

Be careful in multiplayer, I think some players did testing and only the host can deal DOT damage from the lingering flame on the ground. I really wish they would fix this as that's a pretty big nerf to the overall fire weapons in the game.
Started using this yesterday and it was amazing was shooting bot troopers once and letting them burn and it would kill them but later on that night it suddenly started to take like 3 or 4 shots to kill 1 trooper, has it been stealth nerfed?
There's a bug that seems to remove the burning damage. Unsure what causes it - other people using it? Cross platform host? Connection issues? Its hard to say. Its a shame though because when it works it feels great but its underwhelming when it doesnt work.
Are you aware that DOT (burn) does not work while not beeing HOST in multiplayer? Only 4 types of bugs get affected. Rest bugs are not, and none of the automatons.
nah, the problem is - you dont want to "light bugs on fire and wait for them to die". You want them dead. A hunter on fire will most likely kill YOU (by setting you on fire).

Great Video as allways. TY for teaching me so much. GOD bless you brother!!!
I'd swap out the gas strike for cluster bomb if I were you. That thing is the king of horde clear.
EAT
It dishes out more damage overall but assuming you don’t mash your Breaker the damage is less over time. The base breaker is more useful for just spamming shooting albeit barely while the incendiary is for using slowly and over crowds.
One of the first guns you get is the best gun and that just ruins any anticipation of the other guns.
Great video as allways 👍👍👍
Have they patched the bug that makes it so only the host can deal DOT?
@@Perfection-ish I tested it a couple days ago and it's still happening to me. Dropped into a mission solo, fire damage from the incendiary breaker was working fine. A friend joined on me, we backed out to the ship. A couple randoms joined me, and in the next mission the fire damage wasn't working even though I was squad leader.
I miss the old breaker so dam much. That weapon was super fun to use. Its still good but i never use it anymore.
I use the Dominator against the bots and the Incendiary Breaker against bugs - both loadouts have served me well 👍
Dominator takes it over both of these. It has long range ability with explosive and medium armour penetration. The down side is it kicks like a mule, but if you control between shots it’ll one shot most things, 2-3 shot everything else.
Dominator does not have Explosive. Its just in the explosive weapons category. nonsense, but it doesnt have the trait.
the breaker and breaker incendiary feel in a similar place to the dominator and scorcher to me where they're both really good for bugs and bots respectively and are just a little different enough to be good at different things. like dominator is so good for destroyers now but scorcher is still so much better for cannon turrets, tanks, and walkers
Breaker Incendiary feels officially OP after this update.
Also the Breaker Spray and Pray was kinda viable before this update to deal with hordes, but now Spray and Pray is fully outshined by Incendiary and doesn't have any place in the game tbh.
maybe they should give it a faster fire rate or something. make it even more spray and pray
When I used the regular breaker the mag size drove me insane so I quit using it after the nerf. But the incendiary has fixed that problem (somewhat)
Uploaded 1 minute ago hell yeah dude! Thanks for the videos!
I always used the incendiary one I was astonished that It got a buff
I think it really depends on what support weapon you pair it with.
The question for me is,
In the time between shot and death by fire, how many times do the enemies get to attack you?
Im not using my primary for DPS but for burst damage.
So does the incendiary breaker do even higher damage now that there’s the new fire-related ship module upgrade?
Been using the incendiary breaker as my primary bug killing weapon before patch. I didn't think it really need a buff but ill take it if it means i can take more enemies down.
It was better before and it’s definitely better now
For total rounds you forgot to count the mag in the weapon.
The breaker incendiary is a great weapon of you're playing solo. Since DOT is bugged, it's terrible in multiplayer.
I played with a full group against bugs on difficulty 7, tested it out on semi and got almost 600 kills, 0 deaths and no friendly fire damage. It works pretty well from my experience
@@JFK47x Interesting. Were you host?
@@MLPTechnoColt I wasn't, I joined a random lobby. But game has a lot of bugs, so it doesn't surprise me I just haven't experienced that one at all yet
@@MLPTechnoColt I also play on PC
The dot is not bugged, it works perfectly. Its not a good group weapon because it has massive range and will light your team up.
Just an important note, fire and gas damage don’t work if you aren’t the host
Why doesn’t anyone talk about the spray and pray
Be careful in multiplayer, I think some players did testing and only the host can deal DOT damage from the lingering flame on the ground.
I really wish they would fix this as that's a pretty big nerf to the overall fire weapons in the game.
Target brood commander legs btw, if they cant walk, they cant chase you. Head or no head ❤
Just a PSA for anyone, fire/gas DOT is bugged and currently only works for the player who is the host of the match.
what about breaker spraynpray?
Started using this yesterday and it was amazing was shooting bot troopers once and letting them burn and it would kill them but later on that night it suddenly started to take like 3 or 4 shots to kill 1 trooper, has it been stealth nerfed?
There's a bug that seems to remove the burning damage. Unsure what causes it - other people using it? Cross platform host? Connection issues? Its hard to say. Its a shame though because when it works it feels great but its underwhelming when it doesnt work.
The main drawback of the incendiary breaker is that it doesnt look like a bolter from WH 40k
Can you speak to issues with fire DoT damage not working in grouplay?
What rocket are you using in this video?
sad that they nerfed the breaker a bit too much...
All they did was take some bullets....
@@nahfr.yes and it feels really bad. waaaay to much reloading. its dumb.
@@nahfr.
Less bullets means less dps over a period of time and more vulnerability time
is the fire still bugged, as in the burning works only if you are hosting?
Are you aware that DOT (burn) does not work while not beeing HOST in multiplayer? Only 4 types of bugs get affected. Rest bugs are not, and none of the automatons.
nah, the problem is - you dont want to "light bugs on fire and wait for them to die". You want them dead. A hunter on fire will most likely kill YOU (by setting you on fire).
Meanwhile the breaker spray and pray being worse in every way except with 30 more rpm
What's up you legend.
Everyone hopping on the bandwagon! I’ve been here since the beginning! Stick something you like and use it. Don’t just follow the rest like sheep until they nerf it into the ground because of you all. Thanks for that!
Isn't the sickle better than the regular breaker for bugs?
Breaker incendiary for bugs. Breaker for bots. Simple way to do it
Okay but is fire damage still only working for host or is it fixed?
Can you do a video on your setting, your game looks so good compared to mine
The breaker incendiary can remove-a chargers front leg armor 😮
Day 9 of asking for loads of your favourite loadout options for different scenarios
I've heard if you aren't host then the fire damage over time does nothing. Can anyone confirm?
its very good against bugs, basically a bolter from 40k
Thats the dominator buddy
@@nahfr. lol ive used it for weeks now
Does anyone know if they fixed the host bug for fire tic dmg. Cuz I know if ur not host, sometimes ur tic damage won’t work
0.01 seconds in. The breaker is still better. Level 102 helldiver here
I still prefer the plain breaker but only on bugs
I wish we knew the dmg the fire does over time.
The problem is average players are trash and they manage to kill me a mile away.
Dominator can handle every enemy type at the current meta.
You can now kill chargers with the incendiary breaker =)
