Lol you aren't going to believe this Got to play with him about a month ago and as it turns out he is releasing his own signature model P. Mauriat "Beatbox Sax" with a lot of the features seen in the video plus a few. I'm pretty sure he said it would be unveiled at NAMM this year! But man, he sure is a crazy player, very inspiring and down to earth 😁
Thanks for making and posting this. I saw Derek in concert Nov. 2022. He was amazing. I watched several of his videos between the time the show was announced and the day of the show. Very outside the box as others have said.
How would one do a “Leo P overtone gliss” without an altissimo f# key? I’ve been trying for months and can only really get something simple on low b flat.
Adolphe would be proud to see someone be so innovative with his instrument.
absolutely
I hope that sometime in the future Derek makes his own signature horn with all the extras for people to buy

I never realized how many little percussion elements were on his horn
I love the look of that sax
Love the green pearls on the keys

Its literally the secret of the universe
Much easier to start on a bari low A and work on being able to slur ascending overtones.
Practice lots of overtones
Derek, love your style. But, snarky background comment at 3:39- 3:40 had me in stitches!
Great quality video! Suprised you could find a quiet place at NAMM!!!
Thanks! For most of the upcoming videos I came in 2 hours before the show started to get quiet space for everyone :)
Beautiful! Derek is one of the absolute originals!!!!
Derek is such a creative outside the box kinda thinker
Oh this beautiful jody jazz mouthpiece...
Very cool - and awesome camera work!
I like the F sharp key on the side. Definitely innovative along with the rest of the horn.
What a nice guy! And I love the things he does btw too
Derek is the man his so creative and inspiring!
The brace on the bottom looks really cool
Great video! You do good work! Please more
This guy is a genius. Thanks for sharing!
he's a mad scientist of sorts for sure
Amazing!
Derek is truly out of this world…. 👍🏼👍🏼
So cool! Very inspiring! I’m gonna try some percussion! You’re amazing! Thank you for making my day!
glad you enjoyed it!
Great video.
I met this guy at Midwest clinic! super cool down to earth guy who knows more than anyone I've met about how the sax works heh
What are the notes at 1:34
He's doing like 3 at the same time, not a chance I can figure that out!
This is his song “Dyakuyu” or “Thank You”. He actually sells the sheet music on his website if you’re interested!

I apreciate you for your work ! You have realy original sax
It’s pretty cool, but it hurts to watch a little too ngl
Oh my goodness!! You are so amazingly “outside-the-box” creative! 👍 And you have HUGE hands!!
3 years later P. Mauriat embrace these innovation by Derek and made a beat box sax 👏🏽
it was at this namm that Derek told me they were working on his version :)
Super cool!
Thanks, SK!
Why does this man look like linus
Not saying he is, but have you ever seen Derek Brown and Linus in a room together?
@@SaxSpy XD
Genius guy.
Someone needs to tell Derek about key risers
grreat, i like the guiro rod
i love that he actually found a use forthe F# lol
the innovation to the high F# key is next level i wish i trusted myself enough to do that to my horn!
Never seen something like that
pretty wild
This guy reminds me of those people that makes every excuse TO NOT PLAY THE FUCKING HORN.
Can someone make a custom sax for this man
Makes me think of Roland Kirk.
That went from a sax to a full band
Dope
Inspiring . . .
Jammin
Que modelo de correia está usando por favor ?
Just Joe's
It’s a beautiful horn regardless
WILD
Do you offer private lessons 🙏🙏
Instrumento top
That poor poor saxophone
It was built to play music!
Frightening . Absorbing upload though .
Poor saxophone
A sax is a tool and this one was made to make music!
Play not talk
Amazing!!!
Super cool!
