If they'd change the wrappers around their foods for 1 or 3 carb tortillas, they'd slim down some. The chips (& salsa) need to be changed out too. Mexican meals in the U.S. have too many carbs.

He is a great guy. He is warm and also down to earth. I had the honor meeting him in an angiogenesis conference their non-for-profit organization supported many years ago. He inspired to do more volunteer work for the good of all human beings.

Thank you! As a research scientist myself have followed Dr. Li’s fascinating angiogenesis related research for decades. But I think he as a teacher, distilling his wast scientific knowledge and love of healthy foods into simple plain language for everybody understand and benefit I think would impact far more people. Simply because it’s preventative. Thank you both for such an engaging discussion!

I've always wondered why grocers like Whole Foods or Fresh Thyme are not better at introducing people to the more exotic produce selections . Whether they would have a weekly prep and taste offering, or a in house workshop, I think it would be helpful to educate people on these healthy foods. Most of us stick to what we know.

I am a diabetic using ozempic. But it is not magic like people think. I was giving no dietary on nutrition guidance beyond when I already knew but couldn't do. While ozempic does help me not crave carbs I still had to do the work of overhauling my eating patterns. Over the last months I have moved to a more plant-based diet. Still some meat but much less. More fish. Just started losing weight a few weeks ago. Started intermittent fasting by eating for only 7 or 8 hour window day six days a week. Thank you to Dr. Li for your book and all these interviews. I have been doing some of the things you've talked about instinctively. Going to get book. So much confusing nutrition info is out here Your approach makes sense and voice of reason backed by research. Learning alot. Approved for Ozempic for 3 years. I do not want to be on it forever. They say you have to be on it forever or you go back to former eating patterns. I hope this is not true. Going to put in the work eating with the knowkedge in your book tailored to me. And then I hope that will be a new habit eventually getting off the medicine after a little while of being at proper weight.
I also walk every day 8500 to 12000 steps a day.

    • @susanb3989
      @susanb3989 11 місяців тому +3

@angielyke with the changes you are making I bet you will not need the Ozempic. The people that don’t make those changes will gain back what they lost if they stop Ozempic.

    • @glenntimberlake2413
      @glenntimberlake2413 21 день тому

Great that you are walking regular and fora decent distance. ,
Ozempic will rob you of muscle mass.
Muscle mass is needed to be there and worked I. Order to lose fat.
Work with your doctor to get off of it safely and probably gradually.
You could possibly use a trainer at a gym to help you work out with weights.
This will burn calories and reduce fat as you work muscle and build muscle.
Be consistent. Be patient with yourself. Don’t give up.
Make sure you are getting the nutrients that you need.
You are on a good path.
Now you need to make refinements in your plan and work the plan.
If by chance you have a swimming pool available to you, that would be a wonderful opportunity to add swimming laps to your other exercise and walking routines.
Swimming really burns calories. And it holds your body weight off your joints and cool water will keep you from getting real hot.

wow, this is one of his best info. they need to study this more with cancer patients. You can lose weight and energy drastically. Doctors say they dont know why some people have cancer fatigue, Not all cancer patients have it. but these diet things have not changed it much so far. another specialist who does natural says to take a certain amigo acid. going to try that too. I also eat mushrooms all the time and I eat meat or did. i not seem any difference in belly fat outside of the norm of losing weight with the cancer all over.

Actually, Kajukenbo was a mixed martial art founded in Hawaii in 1947. It was founded by 5 martial artists who merged their styles to emphasize self defense for those with smaller bodies. (One reason I chose it.) So I disagree that Bruce Lee was the first to combine styles. That said, he was definitely an idol of mine. He overcame a lot to get where he did.

Make your own Curry from fresh spices like Maharajas had their cooks do.
The "Curry" powder we (general public) buy in a grocery store are moldy spices dried & rained upon many times. Occasionally pooped on by beautiful birds.
Buying individual fresh spices , drying them away from birds & insects then grinding into a fine powder that is called CURRY POWDER.
All foods imported from Bangladesh, India & many 3rd world countries are ridiculously infested with mold !
Starting with Coffee from Africa, except Japan & Europe ALL fangs loaded moldy garbage ends up in USA & Canada .
I treat my Coffee beans with Borax , dry and grind. ..........

How healthy fruits are depends on the individual. My husband, for example, has a terrifying family history of Type 2 diabetes. He is not overweight so let's get that out of the way. He has to be vigilant to stay out of prediabetes. He's been told to limit fruit intake to two servings a day. Two servings.
I'm on the other end of glycaemia scale. Fruits can send me into a hypoglycemic tizzy where I sweat, shake, and feel really light-headed and very hungry.
One of my nephews is fructose intolerant. Fruits are rich in fructose.
Some fruits are potent triggers of migraine and IBS. Some fruits can trigger anaphylaxis in allergic individuals.
Blanket statements like Fruits are Deadly! and Fruits are Perfect! are both dangerous.

While certain foods may be more beneficial for weight loss in certain areas of the body, there is no evidence to suggest that you can target specific body parts for weight loss with food alone. Weight loss is a result of creating a calorie deficit, which can be achieved through a combination of healthy eating and exercise.

Dr Li (with all due respect), compares our ability (or, inability) to regulate how much food (aka fuel) we consume by comparing us to a car and gas pump. He says that while adding fuel to the gas tank on our vehicles, the gas pump nozzle has a "click" turn-off mechanism when it senses the gas tank is full, but that humans don't have a "click" mechanism. **WE DO HAVE A SO-CALLED "CLICK" MECHANISM** : If we ate our species-specific diet of fresh raw, ripe fruits and vegetables, without all the other things we do to real food, we would become adapted back to what true hunger is, and we wouldn't overeat, and thus expand our fat (fuel) storage cells.
Look at animals in the wild who eat only their natural, species-specific diet. They have the "click" mechanism. They don't become overweight or obese. We are living in a denatured world environment with plenty of denatured things to eat that people think are food! If you're overweight or obese, you're not eating the right food. This is the secret to getting your "click" mechanism back and returning to your natural, homeostatic appetite and body. Fresh, whole, ripe, undenatured fruits and vegetables. Our bodies are not missing anything, including "a clicker". We're not broken, our so-called "food" system is broken.

get some dried mushrooms and blend them up in a coffee grinder to a fine powder. Add to sauces, soups, chili's, ragouts etc.

You lost me when you said there’s something wrong with my baby when he was born at 6lbs 7oz, but all nurses and doctors where amazed at how clean his skin was, because I ate lots of vegetables and fruit. Please, as a spokesperson, what h what you say

It's like eating rubber. Worst-tasting "food" ever imagined as food. This is a MAJOR extrapolation. And it would be MY luck, I would end up with the toad stools ...

I don’t understand why you were put on a low fibre / literally no fibre diet for a week. I’ve had two colonoscopies in the past 5 years and only had to avoid fibre for 2 to 3 days

Re: overeating fruit, I bake apples (or microwave them) and find I can easily eat 4 in one go because they're soft and sweet, I would not eat 4 apples raw.

Regarding eating fruit, your brain does not need to run on sugar. Your brain can easily run on ketone.
