  • The East Lancashire Railways 1940's weekend drew in crowds of people which was good to see. Lots of entertainment and a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. All music in this video was recorded at the event and the owners allow the content to be used on UA-cam. Well thats what the bot says.

      Thank you for the compliment Peter. It took a lot of time to edit everything. I enjoy this kind of day out over the more usual steam gala days and am pleased so many make the effort to dress in period clothing all adding to the atmosphere.

      Thank you yorkshirepud. This is the first time I saw the 3 aircraft in formation It really was a goosebumps moment seeing that. The white shirt drivers LOL Had not thought about that I did like the fireman on the saddle tank who looked the part to me. The carriages are looking in need of some paint but inside are pretty good. I am glad so many turned out to the event bringing in much needed cash to the railway. Not sure if I will get to Brighouse but the Rum an Cola girls are going. I asked about if they were going to Hunsworth in August, they said not this year.

      That was a fantastic sight and the first time I have seen 3 in formation, even at the huge Yorkshire Wartime Experience they have only had one plane fly over. In the last 3 weeks I went to 40's weekend and out of them I enjoyed this the most East Lancs really made a well organised event.

    Now that's a day out and a half. Brilliantly shot. Nice music. I liked how you kept the music going through some of it. The waggons were looking great. Nice to see some Americans as well as Germans. All part of the fun. Not celebrating war but enjoying the good feel, music and costumes of that period. I am sure some people from American and Germany were maybe there. Nice feel to the end of this with the train leaving and whistling with the station staff in it. This is really making me want to go next year i will look out for the dates.

      Thank you axl. It really was a great day out if, like me, you enjoy this kind of music and the people dressing in period clothing. It took a lot of time editing it all together with Cyberlink Power Director. You can lay down multiple video and audio tracks and mix them together. I really like making this kind of video over the usual ones put on here but you have to find copyright free music. CTVideo made a lot of edited films on VHS like this, only a couple have been put on youtube very early on. I did not meet any Americans or Germans here but have at other events like this the whole atmosphere is 40's not the war as it was years ago and I think is a lot better event for that, just people going about in 40's style enjoying the day and entertaining us. I saved the last song from Rawtenstall for the end sequence and really pleased how it turned out with the stationmaster.

      It was a great day out and good to see so many people went there bringing in much needed funds to keep the railway running. I wonder how many of these events Allo Allo go to Haworth is the first time I saw them.

      These 40's weekends have been very popular but since PooTin upset everything some railways like KWVR take no part in them and those that do have gone more towards the clothing and music over the military side of things. I have suggested a 60's weekend would possibly be as popular and more fitting to the exhibits seen. The trains are 50's 60's built as are a lot of vehicles and some of the music is 50's. I am sure people would enjoy dressing in 60's style dance to the music and recall their youth as much as they do going to a 40's event

    As someone born in the 1940's, I am sick and tired of hearing about the 40's - especially WW2.

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam  10 місяців тому

      I was born years after the war. I grew to like 40's 50's 60's music and is more the reason I enjoy going to these events. There are a number of people like yourself and I have suggested rather than these lets have 60's weekends. The locomotives and trains used are mostly British Railways indeed at this event there was a 60's built diesel in use. A lot of the entertainers do 60's sessions in other places so for them it is not a big change. People would love seeing the 60's vehicles which are often on display anyway and I am sure many would enjoy dressing in 60's fashions. War is a terrible thing that should not be forgotten but these events are put on more for entertainment than to glorify war. Of course being as you are I doubt you bothered to watch and that's your choice Plenty of none 40's things to see on here, thanks for your comment.

    at £7 for a hotdog, not 1940s prices though....

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam  11 місяців тому +1

      Sadly not. Thats the inflated price we have to pay these days at events like this or like I do go to a cafe for breakfast. I do not mind paying a bit more but not that much

      @@cedarcam i take a flask and my own sandwiches. otherwise i cant afford these events.

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam  11 місяців тому

      @@888ssss I take a flask as well now. I like to support the railway but on BR £5 for a cup of coffee is just too much. I have stopped buying sandwiches at stations as well. The day I went here I did buy teas a sandwich and cake. On a day out on BR I take something to eat or if I know a good café like when I went to the Haworth 40's weekend got a full breakfast and coffee for £6 at Jackie's next to Keighley station which lasted me until I got home.
