It is. I saw it twice. I have never seen a story in a film that actually begins before you even see the film studio logo whether it be the UA or the MGM lion or whatever, and there was a good reason for the director to do that. Woody Guthrie was we now adays would call a radical leftis, but he was basically for the working man and he was a socialist who was not too fond of large corporations having a big influence on the quality of how people live, and so, having already been a fan of Woody Guthrie, I thought it was real cool to have him go before the UA emblem. That was a master stroke, and it made me feel right away that the director knows what he is doing.

Oh yeah, now I remember my other complaint with the film, about Yoshi. I have seen photos of the real life Yoshi in that time period, and to me, she may have looked half Japanese. I would say she looked like a mix of Asian and western ethnicity. In the film, Yoshi looked fully Japanese, and the character in the movie seemed a little apprehensive at times from talking. Yoshi's voice in real life was very western, and she didn't seem particularly shy to me, and she also seemed very well adjusted. In this film, the Yoshi seemed a little bit tense or uptight.
