Aeromodeling at the highest level, in my view.. I just KNEW that Tom was going to be in this somewhere, as soon as I saw that characteristic profile pilot, I'm a fan of his Max fliart channel. A lovely plane this, beautifully built and flown. 🌟👍
Mike, Ever consider creating a how to on find graphics and print them on tissue ? It would expand many modelers skill. Thank you for sharing your builds!!
Absolutely beautiful. You know I could see the influence of Messrs Hallman and Farrell from the outset! When I clocked that profile pilot I was CERTAIN.. But the big cigar goes to YOU Sir for this one. Superb aeromodeling, thanks so much for sharing! 🌟🌟🌟👍
Lucky to meet Cook Cleland when he came up to the Cleveland Air Show. I know the family that stored this plane and Cook’s Super Corsair for many years.
Yep, right up until I forgot to put on the peg retainer after switching motors. I think you saw that abbreviated flight. Bent prop shaft and stab have been replaced - it's ready to go for WestFAC.
Its been about 60 years since I flew a rubber powered model, amazing flight, beautiful model. How on earth do you get the rubber power to last such a long time?
Thanks Geoffrey - the Corsair has a pretty long motor in it (30g, 4x~44" loops of 1/8" rubber). Wound to around 1800 turns it will give a motor run of 45-55 seconds turning a 9.5" prop.
@@michaelkelly7338 No, what I meant was, what format are the skin files? I could not find any that PhotoShop could open. Where are the skins you found located since the ones I found couldn't be opened?
@@tvideo1189 Ahhh. Open the skin files in either GIMP or Paint.Net and export them as BMP, TIFF or JPG files. For some skins I have had to add a black background layer in GIMP to get rid of transparency effects. For the Lucky Gallon Corsair I downloaded the skin from here: flightsim.to/file/24820/fg-1d-corsair-lucky-gallon. Unzip, drill down through the folders until you get to the TEXTURE.RL_Lucky folder. You'll see a series of .PNG files in the folder - open those with Paint.Net and save as BMP or JPG.
Thanks Scott. My son's Corsair is from the Dumas 17.5" span kit. Dihedral is a bit increased, the fin was reduced to scale size and it uses a narrowed 7" Peck prop instead of the kit prop. It flies surprisingly well for how heavy it is - his best flight so far is just under a minute.
Very nice, I have learned a lot from Tom thru his videos, would like to someday meet him
Beautiful model and fabulous to watch it fly :)
I build and fly RC models better because I learned to build and fly free flight. Excellent job, Mike.
Thanks Dave. Lots to learn when you can't just put in a few clicks of trim. 7 years since I got back into free flight and I'm still learning...
The Corsair looks great in this paint scheme. Your craftsmanship is superb and it show in how good this plane flies! Just beautiful in the sky!
BEAUTIFUL MODEL!!!!! GREAT FLIER!!!! Beautifully built and covered!!!!
Ya' know, there is just something imminently soul satisfying about F/F rubber scale flying. I wish mine flew like that. Beautiful!
Thanks Stoney - definitely deeply satisfying when it all comes together.
There is, and it goes far beyond words.

Such long and beautiful flights, almost floating like a feather.

That was glorious! Excellent work! Thoroughly enjoyed seeing your hard work rewarded with such beautiful flights.

If I ever actually finish a model, I'm sending it to you guys to make it fly. lol.

You had some spectacular flights in Muncie!

How did you convert the skin files to printable???
I used GIMP to select the areas of the skin I wanted to use and assembled the graphics for printing in PowerPoint.

I don't believe those flights!
Awesome model, build, and flight. The picture of your son holding a smaller model, which is that? Thank you for sharing!
