Love old episodes. All participants are so quick & witty. As a Canadian an occasional tourist in England, I learn a lot about English recent history, poltical figures, English people, and English people. The delightfull silliness that crops up, sometimes as Monty Python, sometimes as a man running by dressed up as a rat, is one of my favourite aspects of the English (and no doubt the Welsh, Scots, N. Ireland (Drry Girls), and Eire.
When I first clapped eyes on Sean Lock in QI, I mistook him for a recently defrocked Jesuit who would start cracking risque jokes after a glass of sherry or two. I'm glad he's become one of the wittiest comedians Britain has produced, along with David Mitchell.
@@simac3880 It isn't necessary to take offense at that and drag age into the argument. Not all humor is funny as the years go by. The fat jokes on the first series of HIGNFY against Fergie aren't amusing to me although I was interested in the political history in those episodes. Attacking a person's appearance isn't my idea of being witty. I find some humor to be so dated a person would have to be a real fan to enjoy them now. For instance, I can't watch Don Rickles or Joan Rivers. And it has to be said that humor that centers on people few know anymore isn't as funny today. If a person has to do research online to get the joke, that kills the laugh.
@@simac3880 Or MAYBE they were referring to the fact that the topics were > 20 years old and yet this is funny because of the wit of the participants? That they were being complimentary?
ReWatch 2020 : Fun Fact ; Jenna Bush now co-hosts a show that spends a good amount of the time on air celebrating that Brunch Glass of Wine to keep the day going.....
I've taught university statistics for three years and published 4 peer-reviewed papers in which stats were an essential component. In this context, I dont care. She's quick and witty and everyone knows what she meant.
He has always been great. Very knowledgeable-the most so on the show. Never a shit. It's too bad you find him (unpleasantly) cutting but millions of us just find him funny and shrewd.

😂😂 I met my husband in 2001. Where does the time go. I love this. Will Angus ever come back? He should #toosoon
I think he should be a guest host. Or at least a team member. Though I think Paul might throw a strop.
Recorded in 2001, still very funny.
Why is that special? Do you think funny was invented in the last decade? You aren't a millennial by any chance?

I wholeheartedly agree!
In those days Hilsop was a snidey cutting little shit. I'm glad he's grown up over the years.
