    My best friend's dad used to listen to this every weekend. He'd fry up some chicken wings on his back porch by the pool, watch Nascar, and then turn on this song and have a drink & dance. He was chill. Took care of his family, Loved his dog, And took pride in his (extremely) green grass. Great song. Great memories. RIP Greg/ Pops

      Great song but there is a dark side to it. The title, you dropped the bomb on me, baby” wasn’t about a female but the destruction of black Wall Street in Tulsa OK back in 1922. It’s referencing the bombing of black Wall Street by the whites in an attempt to destroy the black wealth. The bands title G A P band is referencing the main streets that intersected black Wall Street. G reenwood. A rcher P ine.

    My favorite part of the song? Is when drummer Ron Kaufman, plays that last ditch paradiddle on the snare drum, JUST BEFORE, the final fade out; I ALWAYS waited for it! That guy was a true "MR. ON-TIME HUMAN METRONOME throughout the whole rhythm section of The Gap Band, while on the drums; never over-playing, or adding needless showboat fills & over the top gimmicks, but every once in a while, he'd throw in a quick'n'fast drum fill, that made YOU KNOW, that was a real live drummer behind the kit, and not a crappo, early 80s drum machine or stale sounding drum sampler.

    • @ApolloTheUltimate
      @ApolloTheUltimate 3 роки тому +16

      80s were great but I wouldn’t say it’s the best time. Crime is much lower now than back then, it was just reported on less and the media over exaggerates rates. also everything was less accessible, any kid from the late 2000s/early 2010s can’t even fathom that kids from the 80s and 90s had to flip through records to find their music in stores. 80s may be great and nostalgic, but don’t understate the advancements we’ve made nowadays. it’s only gonna get better
      EDIT: Russia is trying to start WWIII so he can fuck up the world again, maybe it won’t get better

    She mentioned that back in the day, Japan didn’t know much of African American artists so she was a bit intimidated by them. But her opinion about African American music and artists changed because of these guys. Overall, she wants to thank the Band for such a great time, and just being lit in general.
