We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.
The main issue I have with the c920 and the c922 is logitech decided to essentially turn a firmware update into a new product by adding a few cosmetic changes to the outer casing Outside of that it is essentially a c920 with updated firmware.
sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Beau Israel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
c922 is slightly faster it seems. c920 seems to have a slight lag u can see when u speak and move. audio sounds the same. focus c922 seems better. but for vloggers i think either would work. focusing c922 seems better.
Is there any software conflicts when using the C922 and C920 at the same time on windows? I've tried to use 2 C920s at the same time in the past and the biggest problem with that is that you can only manually control 1 of the cameras.
Personally I prefer the c922. The image looks a bit better, it's not a night and day difference but still. More importantly I think the better auto focus is a big win.
I'm asking this question too... We have fekin budget smartphones that have amazing cameras but we have to play ~100€ (at least in my country) for JUST A WEBCAM. Like WTF.
c920 has more distortion around the edges which is typical of very small wide angle lenses c922 obviously has better firmware to control auto-focusing with a slightly better lens. Mics are most likely the same.
I have the c920 at 1080p 30fps and it looks better in video quality terms than the c922. Honestly the C922 is kinda a waste of money because the c922 only has 720p at 60fps. The real use of a webcam is to show your face and as a streamer I would use the C920 because I’m not showing anything other than my face. In in opposing view the C922 is better if you showing things left and right how he stated he said he was showing things more often. In my conclusion the C920 is perfect for me.
922 seems a bit better - a bit sharper, has a slightly better colors and a better auto-focus as well. At the same price I wound't consider the older C920 though.
The C922 has way better autofocus, and it reacts to lighting better too. The C920 seems to have issues with white balance, and blowing out more than the C922.
Hi Dave, Your camera image is SO MUCH cleaner that my new c922 is giving me. I'm wondering a couple of things: 1. Can this be adjusted? 2. What software do you recommend using with this camera for web conferencing? Thanks!
Thanks for doing this Dave, very much appreciated! I'm in a pickle and in need of another webcam today, glad I found your video! I've had a C920 about a year ago, when the C922 was already available. I took a gamble on the much cheaper C920 and put it through the ringer on two PCs and two Macs, as a simpler replacement for my GoPro that I use for screencasts. I was so disappointed with what the C920 could deliver (with Camtasia that is). In the end I sent it back. Perhaps I'll try the C922 this time :-) I hear the included software is different too?
Loved your video, especially the “sorry about that”,made m3 laugh, but really really thorough review and really helpful,Subbed because of it,Thank you for such a great video
i try 5 software how can do so much quality. my c920 as not this quality and it's new. What codec and sofware you use to optain so much beautiful quality
If you look at your eyes, the C920 is actually a tad sharper there. Weirdly, for the C920 the cans in the bottom left corner are softer than on the C922, but the chart in the bottom right corner is sharper on the C920 than the C922. The chart just to the left of your neck is sharper on the C920 as well. So let's say, the background on the left side is sharper on the C922, but on the right side it's sharper on the C920. Weird that it's so inconsistent. Maybe tiny misalignments in the optics or... the C920 has just more sharpening applied to t by default. Who knows. Audio is basically the same.
Oh yes there is a real audio difference. My hypersensitive ears can tell you that : I could listen to something recorded with C922 longer than to something recorder with C920
Very strange 3D is you do the eye cross thing, your brain does a real wobble and tries to convert the images to 3D but it does not work and gets very strange. I wish I had stereopticon lens set to try out.
It could probably be made into 3D but the cameras are very close together so it may not gif a full 3D effect. You could try the boss-eyed trick or the cross-eyed trick to try and fool your brain into giving you a 3D image. Mobile phones are great for doing this as the image is smaller than a monitor
My first thought was that I could put my phone in a Google Cardboard type viewer and get 3D. I tried the eye cross thing when playing it on my TV and my brain didn't like it. :) Then when he did the focus test it became apparent that he had the cameras stacked vertically, as Joseph said, not side by side. Could download the video, chop it in half, rotate each half 90 degrees, stitch it back together, and watch Dave in sideways 3D.
Difficult to make a judgement on the optics without a proper test card setup. Seems to me the 922 lens is not sitting square to the sensor chip - there's almost zero lattitude for getting this right. Result is focus varies across the FOV and in this case the cans on the left are in focus at the expense of the chart on the right being out of focus. This ignores any possible lens astigmatism which only a test chart would reveal. I doubt you could call a winner based on this test. The electronics (autofocus and white balance) would appear to be better in the 922 though.
Subtle stuff, but it's definitely an improvement. Seems to have better autofocus, wider depth of field, and... Is Dynamic range the right word? The sound absorption panels behind you show more detail in darker areas on the C922 than on the C920 where some of the darker areas lose so much detail you can't see the ridges anymore... Definitely not a major difference at a glance, but when you look at the details it's a notable improvement.
Nice vid, but I wish you wouldve shown them side by side with the 922 on 720p 60fps for a bit since that seems to me to be the only real noticeable difference between the two and I'd have liked to see if that option made the 922 worth the extra money.
Why would Logitech even include a Microphone when you can easily purchase a better quality desk mic or use a headset honestly the Webcam doesnt need a Microphone built in or speakers i think thats stupid
Great Review. Best of the ones I've seen. The C922 wins hands down. You are right the 922 has better focus in the background and quicker focus plus better white balance. Thanks. For me its the 922.
I believe the c922 is focusing less on your face, maybe slightly behind your face which is why the cans are more in focus. That could be on purpose to try and get the backgrounds better. Your face is fine on the 922 and brighter but the textures of your skin are more in focus on the c920.
How come you don't have grainy kinda feed, mine is a little grainy(c922). Like I don't have any natural light coming into my room, just a bunch of bright enough LED's, what do you think is the problem? Should I try getting some natural light, I keep the windows closed, maybe opening them might help, would it? Do you have any natural light in this comparison video?
The difference in background focus is because obviously you haven't mounted both cameras in EXACTLY the same position on the computer. They teach you to standardize experimental conditions at school?
The C920 is a touch sharper on your face - wrinkles look sharper lol -and the sound on the C922 sounded a bit muffled at first - seamed to get better after you played with the internal settings -.
Thank you for a great video. I have been using the C920 for 10 years and I love it. I personally hate using the auto focus because it drives me nuts to see it focusing in and out. So I always turn that feature off. But my camera is starting to have some issues with freezing during recordings, so I am looking at replacing it. But from what I saw in this video, I think I'll stick with the C920. It has worked for me all these years and will be less expensive than the 922. 🙂
Honestly without this video, I purchased the C922 with no knowledge of what it compares to. Watching this now before I receive the camera is extremely comforting, and I really appreciate it.
Oh shit! I already know I love you, and I just was googling looking for a video on this topic, so I lucked out! I saw your face and was like "Holy shit! It's that the 'If you use a cheap multimeter I hope Darwin sorts you out!' guy??" Then you opened your mouth and it definitely was! Maybe the funniest, yet most disturbing, thing I've ever heard in a youtube video, to this day.
I ended up getting the 920. It was about $30USD cheaper and for what I plan to use it for, videos of me playing guitar, it should be fine. I hope the depth of field will be tight enough to get both ends of the guitar in focus. Right now I'm using a Microsoft Vision Camera for Xbox 360, so anything's gotta be better than that! I won't be using the mic, and the Vision Cam didn't have one at all, so no worries there.
Thanks for the nice comparison. Would it be better to use a blue yetti microphone with the c922 for better quality used for teaching? Even though the built in microphone for C922 sounds great, should I opt for better quality on the sound? Thanks
I have two of those 920s, that i got from work :D i have no idea what my company want me to use them for, but one ended up on my octoprint server and one on my desktop computer :D
Focus of your face (look at hair) is sharper in the C920. Also prefer its colour balance. However C922 faster to focus on change. Overall when shown individually both looked good.
These logitech cameras always have a problem with being vary nearsighted the c920, c922 and c615 seem to be able to focus at around a foot and a half maybe 2 feet past that its not as sharp as I think it could be. The range of the focus is good for ultra close up less then 6 inches. I dont know why all logitech cameras on the market today are like this. I actually use a old v-ubm46 also known as a pro 9000 because its focus, dynamic range and microphone is better. Even tho the resolution is lower I think the camera out preforms the new C series but this is just from my testing I have bought and returned the c920, c922 and c615. The pro 9000 has a much wider field of view too.
I got C920 and i run on a small problem, when i use continuity buzzer in close shots, microfon of the camera thinks it is unwanted noise and filter it out after a second
Ahhhhh I have the c920 but I get so frustrated with how long it takes to focus again once it goes out of focus. But I can't justify buying an entirely new one just for slightly faster focusing time.... gosh dang it.
How are you able to record your two cameras in the same time ? What is your app or tricks ... Please ? I will really appreciate to see that in an other video .. Thanks !
Hmm, I have conflicting feelings about the sound. Webcam mics have somewhat muffled sound but at the same time low frequencies sound a bit better. The external mic picks upper and mid frequencies better but seems to cut off lower end completely. Ok, maybe that Samson mic is tuned specifically for human voice range.
I like the tones more on the 922. Depth is better on the 922 on the left side, though it's a bit weird the 920 has better pixel-focus (whatever it's called) on the right, yet worse on the left stuff. 922 focuses more quickly, for sure. I guess you'd need to *exactly* match the placement for each camera and do a bunch of on-axis AND off-axis tests to precisely compare. Whatever. Who has the time for that? It'a webcam! Still, just with what I've seen, I'd prefer the 922 for focus speed and (my perceived) tone balance. Thanks, mate. I've been looking a buying a decent quality cam and this is def helpful to me.
Good observations but the C922 is like 60% more expensive, which makes the slight improvements over the C920 not worth the price, in my opinion. If only the C922 offered 1080p 60fps, then it'd be worth its cost.
The C920 is noticeably clearer (when looking at the face). As for focusing the 920 is biased to focus on faces / skin tones. Most web cams are pointed at faces so the 920 is fine. If it is not available anymore then the comparison is a bit pointless in a way.
No.....the c930 has been best.........about $40 more.... It uses the UVC windows 10 built in driver much better.....plus better through put and faster focusing etc. ...
Will the software (any) allow you to setup manual focus distances? ie. could you setup a button to be focused at 2', 3', 4', etc. thus allowing you to quickly change between a close up board view and a larger desk view? Dealing with auto focus can be a real pain when you are switching back and forth between the same distances. I have to 920.
I think the apparent depth of field and blurring was just down to the slight differences in where the focus happened to be at that point. You'd need to lock them off to do a comparison. To me they seem essentially identical cameras, even down to the optics. But the autofocus is hugely better on the 922. Slightly less room "boom" on the 922's audio.
the c922 seems to handle brightness better. the picture looks... nicer for lack of technical term. but without the comparison to the c920 you wouldn't notice. I think I like the mic on the c920 better, though
ok my question is how do these 2 cameras work on laptops and or pads??... I ask because it seems like the image is pretty good and they may be able to work on such options making them portatil/mobile recording unit...
I have a Logitech C925e which is an enterprise level of this same webcam. It works very well in low light environments, has two microphones and also has a wide angle lens.
I really appreciated you taking the time to provide this video. I have been going back-and-forth on my decision 920 or 922! Your (far better than other videos) was the in-depth analysis that has helped me make my decision. Keep up the great video lessons. I am a subscriber, now, giving you a thumb up and will check your recommendations in the future. I see you are completely transparent - no bias because you own one or the other. Matt
So which one did you choose? I actually bought the C922 and sent it back - in the end, I went for the C920 instead. It's £25 cheaper here in the UK, too.

Thanks !
I believe he is using a software called OBS. It allows for multiple capture devices.
@@JoshuaRieth Thanks !! Shame on me, I though OBS was only for gamers ... LOL ! Thanks again ;-)
Literally the same one but way different price I’m getting cheaper one. Thanks you
I'm trying to become a twitch streamers and I cant find a c920 anywhere so if you have one laying around I'll take it 😁✌🏿
Hmm, I have conflicting feelings about the sound. Webcam mics have somewhat muffled sound but at the same time low frequencies sound a bit better. The external mic picks upper and mid frequencies better but seems to cut off lower end completely. Ok, maybe that Samson mic is tuned specifically for human voice range.
C922 wins on close-up and fast focus, but the C920 lens must be providing better detail (A/B's on poster at 6:30).
If it is not available anymore then the comparison is a bit pointless in a way.
if you just use it work meetings c920 is very fine
No.....the c930 has been best.........about $40 more.... It uses the UVC windows 10 built in driver much better.....plus better through put and faster focusing etc. ...
Will the software (any) allow you to setup manual focus distances? ie. could you setup a button to be focused at 2', 3', 4', etc. thus allowing you to quickly change between a close up board view and a larger desk view? Dealing with auto focus can be a real pain when you are switching back and forth between the same distances. I have to 920.
i have a problem with my c922 its mirroed and theres no option to remove it in my settings?pls some one advice to help me how to remove the merroed??
I think the apparent depth of field and blurring was just down to the slight differences in where the focus happened to be at that point. You'd need to lock them off to do a comparison. To me they seem essentially identical cameras, even down to the optics. But the autofocus is hugely better on the 922. Slightly less room "boom" on the 922's audio.
This could be the difference, focus points change on the same subject.
Looks like its only a software upgrade
Nice Rocket!!thats good
23/5000
you look like the actor Liam Neeson
The skeletal hand is more in focus on the C920. The face is harder to judge but I think it's better on the C922.
C920 is lagging behind a bit - is that the camera or the set up? 22 seems sharper on the cans..
I want my 121...
the c922 seems to handle brightness better. the picture looks... nicer for lack of technical term. but without the comparison to the c920 you wouldn't notice. I think I like the mic on the c920 better, though
I suggest to try ELP "industrial" webcams with C-mount manual lenses. Only ~50$ and very very flexible. 1080p30 is perfect there.
i thought you sounded like jack septic eye for a sec!!
Are you using the Microphone in the C922 or a separate microphone?
they are same .. or so close that it doesnt matter.
Does the C922 have the follow my face feature? thank you in advance.
ok my question is how do these 2 cameras work on laptops and or pads??...
