The coolest thing about 1564 chords is that you can hit target tones in a solo of scale degrees 1234 thereby building energy.
What about 1765?
If theirs a secret society that gate keeps guitar secrets they're gonna kill the shit outta this guy
how can someone use this chord progression without it sounding too much like another song?
Party in the USA
Wagon wheel
isn't that an unfinished cadence? im not fully sure from what ive learnt in school (i do music as a subject) ive been told that a I-V-I and a I-IV-I are perfect cadences, well something along the lines of it, i don't even know if this is even related to what's in the video
The only problem all these songs are not really famous unless one is a teenager...?
My favorite chords Cb
Day 5 of me asking you what a minor bend is like in the guitar solo of Peace of Mind my Boston
Im really trying to learn more music theory and ive been watching a ton of your shorts. Definitely thinking about 52 week Guitar Player.
Costs like 2,000 homie, no disrespect if you do. Just a lot of dedication, and initial finance, so you gotta be 100% sure.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend for that price, could definitely find a proper teacher for less and give more sophisticated lessons
Buy a couple books on music theory for beginners.
@@harrublaku8963can you recommend some
@@mraaronstewart1556damn 2k? Id rather buy a neat les paul and be a noob youtube learner😂
Good video, and it has a focus on song writing, that’s what someone who wants to be a musician strives for, to write their own music. I’d like to see more videos like this, it’s very enlightening and useful. 👍
Dammit - blink 182
To be fair, before 1990 this chord progression was original!
After that it increasingly went downhill..
I’m shocked you didn’t say where it came from: SAM COOKE. He was the first genius to use it.
I wrote about 5 songs that use this chord progression
Almost every pop punk song ever uses this lol
lol Yeah the Pachelbel formula is so overused it actually gets annoying.
The first chord progression he played was literally good by better than Ezra with one note changed.
Made to Love by TobyMac, at least the bridge and outro are
Brilliantly exemplified by The Axis Of Awesome’s ‘Four Chords.’
And what about the Wonderwall chord progression, for example? I think it's pretty common too.
Did you just say "C flat"
yes, because you can’t have both a Bb and a B in a scale
So i should memorized all chords in key?
Highly recommended to do that
I love your videos, no BS just straight to it and you are pretty funny as well, I watch your videos and they have helped me.
The impression that I Get by Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus.
The Oldest Malcom in the middle brother is a really good guitar player too, I never knew.
Dude... The G progression is literally an brazilian song named Exagerado by Cazuza. You should listen to it.
I instantly thought of Green Day when you player those chords; Dookie had a lot of songs like that
Just looked at the wiki page and frankly what stood out is
ACDC
Guns n roses
Led zeppelin
Motley Crüe
Ozzy Osbourne
Motörhead
None of them make an appearance. This of course doesn’t mean they didn’t do one. But at the same time these are big enough bands to suggest they’d be prominent examples if they had.
this has actually been deemed the "axis progression" by many, because of axis of Awesome's parody.
Arent you afraid that your guitar dont have a pick guard?
My fav chord progression is (II - V - I - VI)
Give Ted Nugent his guitar back Brandon, and Im self taught but not perfect, I hate yall who learned the guitar completely do u make videos to boost thy self esteem? Do u diss us to feel inferior? Or is it all sarcasm
As soon as I heard the first 2 chords I screamed “SINCE YOU BEEN GONE”
The first song i ever learned how to play, was on ukulele and it was those chords in that exact order. It was a filthy frank song, i was 14 😂 a couple years later I graduated to guitar.
The verse in bold as love by Jimi Hendrix experience and the verse in under the bridge by rhcp
Once you listen for this progression you realize it's so common that to make a list of songs that use it seems silly. It's like making a list of all the songs that feature a female singer and acoustic guitar. The chord progression is popular for a reason, and even if we don't like the idea of something being common and over-used, this is one of those times that if it sounds good it is good. The trick for it to be great or at least good, however, is to use it well or cleverly, as music is more than just the chord progression.
You mean the most basic chord progression in the world? Yeah I know it 😅
Black smoke rising chords are a little bit similar
When do you know if the chord is minor or major in the key of G (or any key)? I can’t figure out the pattern
My first thought when hearing it was the theme to the office
The boulevard of broken dreams also uses the same progression
Watch the 4 chords song from axis of awesome to see even more
I wrote a few songs when I started playing guitar, and the lyrics and melodys were super catchy, I just wish I didnt use this progression like 7 times

My first song “The Beach In September” I wanted it to sound like the most commercial song ever so I made the chorus this WITHHHH a modulation for extra commercialism 😂
🦾
Thank you sir for this simple tuturials and the info that you give
Its popular because its "circular".
The home chord the Root, provides a basic starting point. Then the 5th, or dominant, provides the most natural jumping point. The minor 6th, also the natural minor of the same key, provide natural tension from the major and dominant chords. Then the major 4th, from the 6th provides the tonal direction which sends us back to home. Its the most basic cookie cutter progression that our ears just love the most.
Just use 4-6-1-5 instead 🤓
This progression is actually used in this order in Japanese pop music. It's mostly 4-6-1-5 or 6-1-5-4. That way it becomes easy to switch between 4-5-3-6, 6-4-5-1 and 4-3-6-1.
The first song that I thought of was “dosed” by RHCP. The chorus is built upon this progression in G.
Hey Brandon, time to go out to see the sun you look like "Fester" from Addams Family .....LOL
Bro I instantly recognized Gb as the end of What’s My Age Again
This is what I've been looking for the combinations of Chords in a Key... This is a big help
Because it just sounds good. Even people who know no music theory end up with that chord progression.
Is a c flat a b or?
yes, c flat and b are the same tone
I thought the most popular is I - any chord besides listed ones - IV - V
