Thank you so much DAMIAN KEYES. I was lost in the game but after watching these videos I felt inspired and driven to start something big. Hi Damian, I’ve been subscribed for a while now and have been catching up with the current batch of videos. Just wanted to say this is probably my favourite so far. So insightful. Just wanted to say thanks from a struggling artist. God bless.

I admit I wasn't watching much of your videos lately, but the last two or three are giving extra value, so I'm back again. Thank you very much for sharing this strategies Damian, this is real help for us as emerging musicians.
When I released my latest EP I personally wrote a letter to a handful of fans through a competition with a physical copy of the CD. This cost around £2 each to around 10 people, so £20 in total. But I see this is an investment as they tagged me in stories for a week straight and shared my content with their friends and you could genuinely tell they were excited. This is a technique that would need to be refined so it didn't cost so much per person, but in this day and age sometimes a physical item/ something which takes time can have magical results.
So many videos this week!! Thank you so much, when I get the notification you've uploaded it turns my day around. Don't worry about your pillow (I kid)

I think the reason a lot of people that don’t subscribe to your channel is because when you watch a video from beginning to end UA-cam recommends you more of there videos and if you see them pop up frequently on the home page you might think your already subscribed

Your point about saving some spend to boost to your existing audience is so critical. That spend can be exponentially more effective than spending to push to a cold audience since the entire target will be at or near the subscribe phase. Balancing promotion budget between both keeps the whole pipeline moving ➡️
Love this one. Having a bit of a hard time finding a demographic for my music.... Not sure it's something I can necessarily get help from on a UA-cam video, but I'm just sort of at a dead end.
Damian Keyes - John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz. Mellow vibes. Lots of jazz chords, someone once called it "sensitive man music." Iron & Wine. I play a lot of instruments: singer, guitar, bass, piano, cello, some basic drums. I record at home and mix for myself, self taught. 400 songs or so.
Hey, just an opinion from a 3rd party. You can tell me to screw off if you want to 😂 You're channel can honestly use a little DIY upkeep. When I visited, there really wasn't anything to grab me, which was sort of confusing. You can make a trailer video for the home page of your channel, and that makes things look a lot more professional, even if it's just your most recent performance...You're losing a bit of valuable space on your thumbnails. You can have added text there, and take a separate high quality picture to catch a viewers attention. Also, try creating playlists for all of your videos, so it's more organized and so your audience can get around your channel without having to sort through 100something videos themselves. as far as video quality goes, they are pretty nice. I think a little more can be invested into sound. Honestly, to most people, video quality is a lot more forgiving than audio quality. People will watch a crappy looking video if it sounds nice, compared to a video recorded on a high quality camera with terrible sound. Product wise, there's definitely a market for your sound. It may not be a super big one as of right now, but definitely there, and worth investing into. If you have things on spotify you can bring up the level of your youtube videos to let people know you have more on spotify, or to just help make a bigger name for yourself. Once again, just my opinion, you don't have to agree or take any of it to heart. At the end of the day, it is your art, and everyone has an opinion. These are just a couple of things I've learned from being a producer/sound engineer for my original band.
Bro your intro about the breaking into our homes is absolutely hilarious. Love your vids. I normally don't follow big accounts cause I root for the underdogs but imma give you a follow
Great advice as always Damo looking after your audience is so important and ironically is a great way to gain more followers lol hope you are doing well in these testing times!
This brings so much clarity thanks. I think the hardest part at the moment is the actual reach part though - no gigs, no money to spend on ads and newspapers/mags rarely print anything about you unless you have significant reach before you contact them. Have you done a video on this? I'm fairly new to your channel (but I have sub'd!)
Hey! Thanks for subscribing 😊😊 I have done a video on releasing music If you have zero fans which is all ideas you can do that don’t involve a lot of money. But I think I’ll do a video specifically on getting reach without spending money. So stay tuned 😊😊
Guys, listen to Damian. A couple of weeks before the pandemic I watched one of his "how to make fans" videos and it loaded me with ammo I could apply during quarantine. I can now say I have some real fans and interacting with them has been the most rewarding experience ever !!! 🙏🏼

Damian Keyes you’re very welcome sir you deserve it! ☀️ i might have just become a superfan from your interaction with my comment... but i wont come to your house or give you my hair, promise! 😂
Awesome video Damian! I think for me personally, I tend to promote anything I create that is a new creation (lyric video, live performance, new song, new merch, etc.), as well as content that starts popping off organically on its own, simply because I know that I'm not popular enough for the almighty algorithm to pick me up and put me in front of a significant amount of people. It's a pay to play game that we're playing here. Game on, I say (: even just 25 years ago, entrepreneurs could only dream of the power we have at our fingertips right now with only just a few dollars!
Great! This really opened my eyes to something. The only problem with your videos is that the concepts are amazing and true. But you never go to specifics on how to implement them. In this video, for example, I would like some examples of types of content that work for each stage and a mini tutorial on how to target the adds properly to every type of audience.
Hey Antonio, thanks for your message! I’m not able to go into lots of specifics in UA-cam (no one watches!!) but that’s why I make courses in my Exclusive Community so I can go in more depth that UA-cam doesn’t really allow for and for more serious musicians. @@DamianKeyes Very interesting! Never thought about doing this 🤔 it does make sense though and this is exactly what I will do with my lyric video tommorrow. Good thing I'm subscribed thanks a lot for this golden info and your reply. Cheers!
Hahaha the 7th point happened for real in Italy... a fan got to the house of an Italian famous rapper by jumping the fence an started screaming and breaking vases in his garden!
What an intro 😂 I thought I subscribed to your channel since your amazing video "how to get 1000 true fans in 30 days" (which I watched entirely, despite my usual puppy-like attention span??), but apparently not, so THERE YOU GO, I just subscribed and thus I am finally a "serious musician" as you said hehe 🔥😉
Last year I paid $600 for an online music marketing course, (after being promised the world) and after watching 3 of your videos I can already say that I've gotten more out of your free content than I did out of that whole paid course. Thank you!
@@DamianKeyes "The Online Musician 2.0" from Savvy Musician Academy. Everything in it was too general and basic and the marketing part was just "here's how facebook ad manager works," all in all a big disappointment and way less than I thought I was getting for the price. Your tip about how an artist needs to invest (including money!) along all steps of the pipeline is BIG - it's a crucial piece of information that I've been missing for a while!

@@newme1977 I would like that! In all seriousness now that we have an understanding about what and what not to put on a pillow I am actually a musician/songwriter and did my second Spotify release yesterday. It's titled What If Robots Like Music Too. P.S. Blueberry is one of my favorite pies but I still prefer it on a plate.
I have been watching your stuff for a while now, and I want to know what it will take to work for you in some capacity? I am based out of the Denver Colorado area ( I realize that’s a little ways away haha) and am motivated to work with you and do something great in the music industry.
Damian, currently I work for a medium size digital marketing firm as an account manager/marketing executive. I grew up in a family that owns a small business doing event production (mainly pyrotechnics/fireworks for city’s and special events). I went to my first concert and hen I was 14 and from there on I knew that was it, I had to try get into the music industry (specifically I have a love for events/concerts). I have done some UA-cam content, and have put on some shows in the area on the side of my day job. Nothing has been “successful” outside of the fact that I have learned a ton of lessons on my own. How can I connect with you further?
Good video. What kind of content would you suggest running in ads to get that initial impression (gigs are hard to come by for me in general)? Also have you ever done a video on how to land a supporting gig?
Hey! There’s lots of things you can do... normally I suggest something story based that brings people in. Whatever you advertise, needs to have context to the person who is looking at the ad. I actually have a Facebook ads course in my exclusive community, feel free to check it out: www.damiankeyes.com/exclusive-community I haven’t I don’t think... I can do one tho!
Hey I have a question, but not about this. I’m trying to start a band but I first need to decide what instrument I should play myself. It’s between electric guitar or drums. I have played both for about the same time, and I enjoy both equally as much. But if I’m gonna choose one as my profession, which should it be? Hope you see this
"Creepy.".that's funny I had a bit of that..didn't realise they were a super fan! Spotify follows are hard..out of 3k listeners I had 100 follows in 28 days...is that normal?..I'm thinking it should be higher 35% of 3k added to playlist, does that count?
I know its hard to get subscribers, but for those whove already subscribed its kiiinda annoying to hear that like 3 times in the same video. Other than that, fantastic work as always!
Shuv Dey, it depends on your music and goals. If you don’t have music recorded, you could invest in some promising emerging artists. Music is a great investment.

This was awesome to read!!! Love that you’ve subbed 😊😊😊 thanks so much, honestly means a lot!
Thank you Damo this has really given me some food for thought mate.
Thank you for watching!! Means a lot 😊😊 hope you’re staying safe too!
@@DamianKeyes I always watch your stuff mate i look forward to it. But don't worry you won't be receive any of my hair anytime soon! :-)
Last year I paid $600 for an online music marketing course, (after being promised the world) and after watching 3 of your videos I can already say that I've gotten more out of your free content than I did out of that whole paid course. Thank you!
Thanks so much Charles that is really appreciated. Which course did you buy?
@@DamianKeyes "The Online Musician 2.0" from Savvy Musician Academy. Everything in it was too general and basic and the marketing part was just "here's how facebook ad manager works," all in all a big disappointment and way less than I thought I was getting for the price.
Your tip about how an artist needs to invest (including money!) along all steps of the pipeline is BIG - it's a crucial piece of information that I've been missing for a while!
@@charlesmitchell7864 thanks for that, i plan on many more vids to come on my YT channel so hopefully I can help with more ideas 😊😊😊
Thank you so very much.
Amazing! You have seriously helped demystify how to actually promote yourself without being spammy. Thanks for your help and positivity
Don't forget active the captions for your Latin public
Nice one Damo!!
Hey dude, when you launch an ad campaign for youtube, what service are you using?
Google ads?
So true! The subscribe step is not an easy one. 😬
Thanks for the advice!
This vid helped a lot .. but how do you push the content that’s made for the first impression To the first impression and pushing the contents for the fans to
The fans
Hey Joel! I can totally help here, but I can’t go into as much depth on UA-cam (as people actually don’t watch it!). I have a Facebook ads course that takes you through this (as well as other courses) on my exclusive community, so if you want to learn more, then sign up here:
www.damiankeyes.com/exclusive-community
Let me know if I can help 😊
Great video, looking forward to receiving hair in the mail 😂😂
I'll do without the messy pillow surprise unless it's a full blueberry pie.
Ty for the immense value 💯
Thank you for watching 😊😊😊
"But(t)... Big Big But(t)!"
O-Oh
I have been watching your stuff for a while now, and I want to know what it will take to work for you in some capacity? I am based out of the Denver Colorado area ( I realize that’s a little ways away haha) and am motivated to work with you and do something great in the music industry.
Hey Joe! Tell me more about what you do and let’s chat further! 😊😊
Damian Keyes also, I just sent you an email as well! Sorry to spam you haha
I actually have a Facebook ads course in my exclusive community, feel free to check it out:
www.damiankeyes.com/exclusive-community
I haven’t I don’t think... I can do one tho!
@@DamianKeyes Ok I'll check it out, thanks!
@@DamianKeyes Hey, is there a way I can pay through PayPal? It's not accepting my card for some reason
"heeeeeere". love it.

You are a mad fucking scientist. Brilliant.
I LOVE this comment I’ve always wanted to be a mad scientist hahah. Hope you’re staying safe dude!
Damo, You're an oracle. Cheers brother.
Ahhh this is such a lovely thing to say! Thanks so much 😊😊
Thank you sir this is really helpful
Excellent video!!
Much Love from the Holy Land
You forgot yellow
Hey I have a question, but not about this. I’m trying to start a band but I first need to decide what instrument I should play myself. It’s between electric guitar or drums. I have played both for about the same time, and I enjoy both equally as much. But if I’m gonna choose one as my profession, which should it be? Hope you see this
Take the Bass 💪
fridvynite then I have to learn a completely new instrument
@@felixcentrifug you will like it
I subscribed just to make you happy!! 😂
This does make me happy!
That was interesting, thank you.
oh well i haven't watched the vid yet but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna learn sumn new lol
Foooo shoooo 😊😊
"Creepy.".that's funny I had a bit of that..didn't realise they were a super fan! Spotify follows are hard..out of 3k listeners I had 100 follows in 28 days...is that normal?..I'm thinking it should be higher 35% of 3k added to playlist, does that count?
I know its hard to get subscribers, but for those whove already subscribed its kiiinda annoying to hear that like 3 times in the same video. Other than that, fantastic work as always!
Officially brought me to the subscribe stage!!
I really appreciate that, thank you so much 🙂🙂
5000 sub.. way to go..
I have a budget of 100k dollars,what should I do
Shuv Dey, it depends on your music and goals. If you don’t have music recorded, you could invest in some promising emerging artists. Music is a great investment.
