Abbie: UA-cam is a slippery slope for a lot of people… Also Abbie: If you liked this video, be sure to check out my other 12 videos in this series! Me: *puts on my mental skis
I have an idea: Maybe instead of asking "Should I do this?" That will mostly turn into procsrastination. May ask yourself "What pain will I get when I DON'T do it."
What's it, negative reinforcement focused self imposed operant conditioning? Negative reinforcement breeds burnout and resentment, hinders growth of true discipline, is known to be deficient in efficacy by modern psychology, etc. Recommend more along the lines of "I am doing this", "this is a part of me, I will not leave me behind", "I want this, and I'm giving it to myself. No one else can", "this time and action are mine, this is what I will do. No one can stop me, I won't allow it.", "I won't stand in my way" A deep breath, a meditative moment, can help too.
My friend has a way of doing things even when you don't always want to and she calls it "pursue the aesthetic." For example, at one point I was like "I don't really want to read, but I should." So she was like "pursue the aesthetic. Get a cup of hot cocoa, go curl up somewhere cozy, and listen to an ambience, and go read." ;P
YT is my weakness. My Watch Later list topped 300 at one point- it's finally to the 40s, and I cannot recommend watching videos in double speed enough.
I would love to have a pink desk, a pink laptop, pink decor, pink plants and and a pink window pane with a pink sky to look at for me to feel inspired to write all the time. One day, maybe one day that’s going to be possible
Can't like this enough. Writing does help me, at least a little, but actually sitting down and starting writing can be too much for me sometimes. Medication gets me out of bed but more than that is a struggle on bad days.
As usual, this was a totally epic episode! (When I saw a new one had come out, I literally gasped 😂) Thanks for all the awesome tips! I'm looking forward to implementing them.
I’ve been writing for a long time, but I am so excited to take part in NanoWriMo for the first time! I’m going to binge all your videos and Abbie’s videos in preptober because it always motivates me soooo sooo much to write! Love the two of you so much ❤️
Speaking of limiting distractions, recent versions of Android have a built-in feature set called Digital Wellbeing. It allows users to schedule times where a Focus Mode is activated which blocks apps and notifications that the user specifies.
I kidnapped my father's kitchen timer so I could use that for writing sprints rather than my phone. He found and now believes that I am the one who hid his scrapbook. I haven't.

Loved when you said “what gets invited into my writing space”

Ma Jhenina Soriano What am I if I don’t write? 🤔 AAAAA😵
It's saying that if you want to procrastinate, just think about the consequences if you DIDN'T write this chapter. Like that.

This was very good! Great tips!
Me: Watching videos about finding an agent instead of writing my draft zero
Abbie: Do you need to know this right now?
Me: No :(
xD

I really need to make a habit again. I was on a roll for about 2 months. I wrote 5 chapters. Then in September, I barely wrote at all. Shame. 😬
Your videos are so helpful! As someone who struggles with their writing due to mental illness it would be interesting to see a video focused on that!

About digital minimalism, what are your views on digital paper tablets like remarkable?
Do you have actual podcast I can sub to?
My problem is finding the motivation
I kidnapped my father's kitchen timer so I could use that for writing sprints rather than my phone. He found and now believes that I am the one who hid his scrapbook. I haven't.
I want to make a time stamp for when I write so I know when to write instead of just writing at random
💜
I don’t have a decent writing nook
Or you can charge your divices and not charge them again for the rest of the day
