Amazing WW2 german RC Bridge Layer Tank "Brückenlegepanzer IV" in Action / bridge building / German Wehrmacht Tank / Scale 1/16 / Model Building Fair "Modell Leben 2023" / Erfurt // The Bridge Layer Tank was based on the german medium tank "Panzer IV" or "Panzerkampfwagen IV - Pz.Kw. IV". At the end of April 1940, 20 Panzer IV bridge-laying vehicles were available. The bridge was 9 meters long. Four of these vehicles were assigned to the 3rd bridge-laying platoon of the armored engineer companies of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 10th armored divisions. The use of the vehicles in Belgium and France did not live up to expectations. Therefore, on June 3, 1940, it was decided to stop further production of bridge-laying tanks and to convert the remaining 16 copies to battle tanks. Nevertheless, 4 bridge-laying tanks IV, with a 10 meter long bridge, were still produced. They were used in June 1941 by the 3rd Panzer Division during Operation Barbarossa
