Was actually contacted by the owner (George) He is very responsive to his customers and seriously regards the feedback he gets from them. I know that I spoke to him specifically in regards to the frets. The ball end frets on the aerosonic blew me away. I honestly told him he should consider making them standard across the product line. Really net fellow.

Just received my 25th Firefly. Translucent Red LP DC w/P-90s. VERY slim neck profile with super access to the high end...ball end frets too.. Did a setup and added a TP-6 Fine Tuning Tailpiece with a set of 9's. $197 SHIPPED. An INSANE Killer Deal!
Truly it’s the closest thing to a crowd designed company. Those members on the Facebook Fan page often find there suggestions coming to life on the instruments. Guess that why I’m hooked. Never, have I ever seen a guitar company do as much to give people exactly what they want. They aim to please, but like all of us, sometimes don’t always hit what they aim at. That being said, they do, at least, try. They try damn hard! Have to give ‘em that.

I've followed these guitars for 2-3 years tossing around the idea of buying one.This one,called "The Blue Bat", is from a series of "Bats" from the Firefly LPE(Elite) lineup,not a FFLPS(Standard),so it would appear,this one has the wrong truss rod cover.The Bats emulate a run of Gibbys named "The Widow". Having been on the fence for so long,I couldn't believe it when I checked the Guitar Gardens website(factory direct) for availibility of the Purple Bat and found a (only 1) FFLPE MKE3Triple Humbuckers) Red Bat available for purchase!!! Gloss black,all red binding(no white edges),red block inlays on the ebony fret board and 100% blacked out hardware including black chrome tuners and,from the factory,clear black speed knobs!!! All for under $200!?!?!? ($189.99 + $30.00 shipping) Needless to say,I jumped off my couch and off the fence! 6 days later,I found myself standing @ the end of my driveway staring down the street looking for the big brown truck! Customer service is excellent and so is the fit & finish on my new FFLP.The 3 humbuckers sound exactly as I had hoped.I immediately put it in rotation with, and proudly display it alongside, my 2010 Epi Les Paul Standard "60s" Ebony and my 2013 Epi Les Paul Custom Pro Silverburst. I have absolutely no musical ability whatsoever but I love rock music and I love the way guitars look and sound. That is why I really like these videos.
I really enjoy your videos, especially of course on the Firefly brand, since I have 2 of them. 😊 One is my "Bat Guitar" that I call "Dracula", because it's a really cool darker green (black mixed in) "Flying V", with fret inlays in the shape of a bat (some are just a bat wing). Of course I had to buy a strap with crosses on it, cuz you know, gotta protect myself and keep it from biting while I'm playing it. Get it? Double entendre (sp?) there! Ar! Ar! Ar! 😂😂😂 I also have a FF338 in what I call "Arrest Me Red" (think cars). Iths awesome and just like totally gnarly, dude! 😅 I love them both! I bought them both in Dec 2023 and so I don't see/have any of the issues mentioned in older (1+ years old) videos on this brand and so you were definitely right in your other video when you speculated that they're listening to any complaints and quickly fixing the issues. Anyway, I'd love to see you check out one of their recently built Flying V's (grab a "bat" version?) and a new FF338, to see what you think now. P.S. I hate you for now making me think about now buying both of the absolutely awesome looking LP's you showed (blue & black)! Stop spending my money, damn you! 😅😅😅 Thanks! 😊
I bought my son the "Elite" model. He's learning to play on a guitar I would have loved to have back in the 70's when I was learning. Definately worth every penny!
Love your channel, especially since you review and demo guitars that I can actually afford. Fell in lust w/the blue burst, but it was sold out before I could get one. Pulled the trigger on the red burst LP (It sold out 2 days later). Got it just last week, and I LOVE it. Played great right out of the box, looks and sounds great. Thank you for the advice, gotta say, you are right. For the bucks, can't be beat!

I have been thinking about getting a firefly guitar for some time now but you may have just sold me with this guitar. Just ordered the promotional black with red binding one. Really hoping it kinda plays similar to my old Gibson lp. Of course it's not gonna be as good but decent would be nice.
I bought A firefly FFLPS after I saw a UA-cam demo.I'm Extremely happy with it. The only thing I did was lower the bridge a little. Plays great, sounds great. They just keep getting better. I recommend them.

Max great video as always. I would love to hear more about set up on these and all reviews. If a guitar can be set up with a string height that is decent (lowish) then im happy. Great video brodda- Yup, I would concur. These guitars are pretty trick...I wish I could post a pic of the one I bought. It's like a one-of-a-kind Elite blue bat model. Has a reverse quilt thing going. I love the binding and all the rest. I've been trying to figure out which pups to put in it though?
I have the 338 semi-hollow body guitar in purple and it was in great shape when I got it. I changed the pickups and the tuners with Grover's and the caps to the proper ones. with 022 uf capacitance for humbuckers. I love that guitar and I am trying to decide which one I want next the LP or FFLG. Great review and keep up the great work!
I'm soooooo tempted to get it in Lizard Burst (green/yellow.) I love my FF338, it's my favorite of my dozen guitars. I'll have to sell one to make room for it. Apparently, my mild OCD insists that I always have no more or less than 12.
Their guitars have come a long way. The pickups sound pretty good on that one! I have been filing all my frets to a ball-end. Well, as close as I can get anyway. I did buy the FFJA and the quality is outstanding! I made a new pickguard and installed a Fleor AV P90 neck and Fleor AV high output bridge PU with a series/split/parallel mini switch. I also drilled out for neck ferrules instead of the plate. It is one of the best sounding guitars of my fleet, and I own Gibsons, PRS, D'angelico, Ibanez , and other higher cost guitars!
I have the purple LP style Firefly and I love it!! There are two different types of Firefly Lp's, there is the Classic and the Elite. Usually the Elite has the fancy multi layered binding and not the classic.
I have a purple FFLP Classic. Out of the box it needed frets to be glued into place. Trying to remove one of the pickup covers destroyed that pickup because there was so much wax in and around the internals of the pickup. I bought the guitar for only 2 reasons: playability and tone. It now sports both, admirably. This video did a great job letting us hear what the presenter sounds like and not so much what the guitar actually sounds like. Shredding, fast notes, and too much overdrive don't reveal the tonal capabilities of the guitar. Whereas, bending a note on the B string or the G string lets us hear the tonal capabilities of the guitar as the harmonics of that bent note become manifest. Absolutely, the presenter sounded very, very good on this guitar. For sure. But did the guitar sound good on him? Not sure about that, there wasn't enough info to tell. Unlike most guitar deomos on youtube, this player is the real deal. Instead of playing with a spasticated vibrato, he knows how to string bend and the vibratos he plays are world class. You don't have to cringe and pretend to admire while listening to him play. Melodic, tasteful, and original.
I love the thrill of getting a new guitar too but the thing is. The more of a guitar collector I become the list of a guitar player had become. Maybe that's not so for everybody. But I find myself jumping from guitar to guitar to try to find something that's comfortable play. And I always end up back with the first guitar I've ever met and that's when I begin to learn again. I'm playing guitar for 35 years
I have my blue berry SG in left handed and I love it. Change the pickup rings to chrome and put some nice knobs. Also did a crown and polish on the frets; it is a beast still without all that. I would by another if I had anymore room for guitars. Firefly is a great company; making great guitars at what real prices should be for guitars. Not thousands for an SG.
Great review as always Max. But you didn't mention anything about the neck profile. Am I to assume it has a traditional chunky Gibson neck. Also no mention of the neck radius. Hope I'm not being too picky.
I recently got one of their super strat models, and I think the blackening isnt dye on the fretboard, but rather something to do with the frets themselves. I spent a lot of time polishing the frets after oiling the board with a white cloth, and all of the black gunk getting on the cloth seemed to be concentrated around the frets. It took a bit to get it off, but it does eventually come off. For the cost though, it really is hard to beat. Mine was 179$ for Locking tuners, bone nut, rounded frets, truss wheel, and the stock pickups dont sound like trash. AND the electronics didnt look super cheap, and were soldered well. Ill probably end up swapping out my pickups in the future becuase I want to learn how to wire pickups and pots. The only complaints I had are finish complaints, and shipping. A little bit of scratching or something underneath the finish on the wood that you never see, and the volume knob itself (not the pot) were crooked. They have a metal outside but a plastic insert that hooks onto the splines that was crooked. I just ended up replacing them. For shipping, they shipped the guitar box, as is, with a label slapped on the outside. There was a foam cutout on the inside, so its not like it was completely unprotected, but it was a little concerining to see that the standard guitar box was shipped cross country with probably a centimeter of styrofoam prodecting the top of the guitar inside the box.
I heard that Firefly upgraded the frets to stainless and the pickups are now the same ones they use in the AIO Wolf guitars, Destiny pickups so they've been upgraded also.
Hi Max. I own 3 different types of FF’s. Like the new frets. Gap from the fret and fret board will reduce one the neck dries out. Can’t wait to get your CD. Keep the videos coming. Liked the wine on the sawtooth video as well as the guitar.
What blows my mind even more than the price of the guitar is the fact that you only have 177k subscribers on top of that this video at the time only has a 1747 likes. Truly upsetting because I have watched you since the beginning when you had like 10k subs and you have truly dedicated yourself to your passion. I blame MAX for almost half my collection. And not just instruments from FF. Most recent FF was the triple PUP gloss black. Absolutely stunning in person.

I have 15 different fireflys the first couple were also but after spending some time setting them up I love then. I've eve NV changed out pickups and pots on a couple and they play great. I'm still looking to buy more.
i see they have a matt black and red semi hollow body that has bat inlays if thats what you may be thinking? I wish they come out with some with trems on them. or a matt black and red V with bats inlayed
I just received the Red Bat model. Needs minor set up work but I have no complaints with any of my 4 that I own. I'm surprised that your truss rod cover says classic on it as it is part of their Elite series. Mine says Elite on the cover and my frets are the traditional ones vs. the ball ends you have.
Aloha from Hawaii, I have a Firefly Blueberry Burst classic 2020 & luv it! Your Blue one here is nice 👍 All I did was have it dressed & fretted & that's it . I would get another one as for the price it's worth it. 😎🤙🎸
My only concern giving one is that you have to be mentally prepared for it to suck out of the box. I've got a V I love now, BUT... It needed nut and fretwork, and a lot of set up work. New tuners and a Black Winter pickup and it's killer, but being a newb to nut cutting and fretwork, it could have gone real far south real fast. I think you have to just be willing to realize they have quality control issues and that's part of the gamble. But, you also might just have a fantastic one out of the box. Hope form the best prepare for the worst. Though, I will reiterate, they are gorgeous.
I went into the purchase knowing the old saying "you get what you pay for". I expected to possibly have fret or tuner issues. I have also heard some people have issues with the pickups being microphonic. I have had none of those issues with my FFLP. I will at some point replace my pickups and the whole electronic package but that was the plan from the start. Very happy with the guitar I received from FireFly. Sorry to hear you had so many problems, but I see you made the changes and enjoy playing it. Rock on!
at the price point of these guitars, the issues you describe are no big deal, and common to almost any brand, regardless of price. if the pick up you changed was faulty, that's a warranty issue, they should have cleared that up for you for free, same with the tuners. the ones that come with the guitar are just fine for rocking out in the living room, provided they work properly. set up work, is something that needs to be done to almost any guitar regardless of price point. when you buy a guitar, (any guitar) if you aren't doing the set up yourself, plan on spending up to $100 to get it set up and playing proper. that's just how it goes. i own 3 gibsons, 2 fenders, an ibanez, and a d'angelico. all of them came needing a set up.
I have four Firefly guitars and I love each and every one of them for the sound and the field for the price you can't beat them I've been building guitars for 40 years and cannot compare the price and the quality of this guitar
Really, do you all live in caves or something? IYV, Xaviere, Eart, Monoprice, Glarry, Hard Luck Kings... there's about a zillion budget guitar manufacturers out there now and virtually ALL of them are more consistent than Fireflys
Great video. I just got 3 new FF guitars and was expecting them all to have the rounded frets but only one did (FFPR). The FFMN and FFJA did not. All are nice guitars though.
I didn't even know that about my explorer. Rounded frets... kewl! I LOVE Firefly! Even tho I'm a bass player, hoping their bass line picks up some killer styles, I love shredding my sexy explorer... MT-2 and a bass amp.. NO PROBLEM!!
I have a Green Bat Elite Firefly. Changed all the hardware to black and installed Seymour Duncan pickups. My Firefly looks so much better without all the gold hardware!

Okay Max you broke me, ya happy now I'm a drummer first and far most, I play bass piano and keys also. You have some great guitars on your channel, I never wanted to play guitar in my life. I like looking at a nice guitar so I subscribed didn't want to play one though. About a month ago you had a Vintage triple pickup LP style guitar, it was so affordable I bought both colors. Now I'm teaching myself to play guitar w/ the help of my friend Vince. I like the one featured in this video too. What have you done to me? Stop it leave me alone, I'm a drummer. Lol
I always enjoy your reviews. I have a couple FFLPs, but I'll be selling them on soon. I find the neck is just a bit to chunky for my small and aging hands. Sad, because they're very nice instruments and a really good value. (with the caveat that at this price point, there's always a possibility of getting a clunker.)

My last guitar player seems to be a total snob about anything non-Gibson..last time he flew into town I showed him my beautiful Firefly LP and he wouldn't even pick it up. I don't know much about guitar pickups, but one of the criticisms I've heard is that the Pickups are "Microphonics"? I guess they pickup too much outside sound and it makes them not good for high gain. Something like that. It sounded ok here, but do you know if these new ones still suffers from the same problem? While I've changed the pickups of my older guitars, I kinda want one that just works without having to sink more money into it. Thanks.

I bought A firefly FFLPS after I saw a UA-cam demo.I'm Extremely happy with it. The only thing I did was lower the bridge a little. Plays great, sounds great. They just keep getting better. I recommend them.

Max great video as always. I would love to hear more about set up on these and all reviews. If a guitar can be set up with a string height that is decent (lowish) then im happy. Great video brodda- Yup, I would concur. These guitars are pretty trick...I wish I could post a pic of the one I bought. It's like a one-of-a-kind Elite blue bat model. Has a reverse quilt thing going. I love the binding and all the rest. I've been trying to figure out which pups to put in it though?
I have the 338 semi-hollow body guitar in purple and it was in great shape when I got it. I changed the pickups and the tuners with Grover's and the caps to the proper ones. with 022 uf capacitance for humbuckers. I love that guitar and I am trying to decide which one I want next the LP or FFLG. Great review and keep up the great work!
I'm soooooo tempted to get it in Lizard Burst (green/yellow.) I love my FF338, it's my favorite of my dozen guitars. I'll have to sell one to make room for it. Apparently, my mild OCD insists that I always have no more or less than 12.
Their guitars have come a long way. The pickups sound pretty good on that one! I have been filing all my frets to a ball-end. Well, as close as I can get anyway. I did buy the FFJA and the quality is outstanding! I made a new pickguard and installed a Fleor AV P90 neck and Fleor AV high output bridge PU with a series/split/parallel mini switch. I also drilled out for neck ferrules instead of the plate. It is one of the best sounding guitars of my fleet, and I own Gibsons, PRS, D'angelico, Ibanez , and other higher cost guitars!
I have the purple LP style Firefly and I love it!! There are two different types of Firefly Lp's, there is the Classic and the Elite. Usually the Elite has the fancy multi layered binding and not the classic.
I have a purple FFLP Classic. Out of the box it needed frets to be glued into place. Trying to remove one of the pickup covers destroyed that pickup because there was so much wax in and around the internals of the pickup.
I bought the guitar for only 2 reasons: playability and tone. It now sports both, admirably.
This video did a great job letting us hear what the presenter sounds like and not so much what the guitar actually sounds like. Shredding, fast notes, and too much overdrive don't reveal the tonal capabilities of the guitar. Whereas, bending a note on the B string or the G string lets us hear the tonal capabilities of the guitar as the harmonics of that bent note become manifest.
Absolutely, the presenter sounded very, very good on this guitar. For sure. But did the guitar sound good on him? Not sure about that, there wasn't enough info to tell.
Unlike most guitar deomos on youtube, this player is the real deal. Instead of playing with a spasticated vibrato, he knows how to string bend and the vibratos he plays are world class. You don't have to cringe and pretend to admire while listening to him play. Melodic, tasteful, and original.
I love the thrill of getting a new guitar too but the thing is. The more of a guitar collector I become the list of a guitar player had become. Maybe that's not so for everybody. But I find myself jumping from guitar to guitar to try to find something that's comfortable play. And I always end up back with the first guitar I've ever met and that's when I begin to learn again. I'm playing guitar for 35 years
I have my blue berry SG in left handed and I love it. Change the pickup rings to chrome and put some nice knobs. Also did a crown and polish on the frets; it is a beast still without all that.
I would by another if I had anymore room for guitars. Firefly is a great company; making great guitars at what real prices should be for guitars. Not thousands for an SG.

Great review as always Max. But you didn't mention anything about the neck profile. Am I to assume it has a traditional chunky Gibson neck. Also no mention of the neck radius. Hope I'm not being too picky.
I recently got one of their super strat models, and I think the blackening isnt dye on the fretboard, but rather something to do with the frets themselves.
I spent a lot of time polishing the frets after oiling the board with a white cloth, and all of the black gunk getting on the cloth seemed to be concentrated around the frets. It took a bit to get it off, but it does eventually come off.
For the cost though, it really is hard to beat. Mine was 179$ for Locking tuners, bone nut, rounded frets, truss wheel, and the stock pickups dont sound like trash. AND the electronics didnt look super cheap, and were soldered well. Ill probably end up swapping out my pickups in the future becuase I want to learn how to wire pickups and pots.
The only complaints I had are finish complaints, and shipping. A little bit of scratching or something underneath the finish on the wood that you never see, and the volume knob itself (not the pot) were crooked. They have a metal outside but a plastic insert that hooks onto the splines that was crooked. I just ended up replacing them.
For shipping, they shipped the guitar box, as is, with a label slapped on the outside. There was a foam cutout on the inside, so its not like it was completely unprotected, but it was a little concerining to see that the standard guitar box was shipped cross country with probably a centimeter of styrofoam prodecting the top of the guitar inside the box.
I heard that Firefly upgraded the frets to stainless and the pickups are now the same ones they use in the AIO Wolf guitars, Destiny pickups so they've been upgraded also.
Those would be the ones IYV has been putting in all their guitars for years.

Hi Max. I own 3 different types of FF’s. Like the new frets. Gap from the fret and fret board will reduce one the neck dries out. Can’t wait to get your CD. Keep the videos coming. Liked the wine on the sawtooth video as well as the guitar.

What blows my mind even more than the price of the guitar is the fact that you only have 177k subscribers on top of that this video at the time only has a 1747 likes. Truly upsetting because I have watched you since the beginning when you had like 10k subs and you have truly dedicated yourself to your passion. I blame MAX for almost half my collection. And not just instruments from FF. Most recent FF was the triple PUP gloss black. Absolutely stunning in person.

I have 15 different fireflys the first couple were also but after spending some time setting them up I love then. I've eve NV changed out pickups and pots on a couple and they play great. I'm still looking to buy more.

I just received the Red Bat model. Needs minor set up work but I have no complaints with any of my 4 that I own. I'm surprised that your truss rod cover says classic on it as it is part of their Elite series. Mine says Elite on the cover and my frets are the traditional ones vs. the ball ends you have.

My only concern giving one is that you have to be mentally prepared for it to suck out of the box. I've got a V I love now, BUT... It needed nut and fretwork, and a lot of set up work. New tuners and a Black Winter pickup and it's killer, but being a newb to nut cutting and fretwork, it could have gone real far south real fast. I think you have to just be willing to realize they have quality control issues and that's part of the gamble. But, you also might just have a fantastic one out of the box. Hope form the best prepare for the worst. Though, I will reiterate, they are gorgeous.
I went into the purchase knowing the old saying "you get what you pay for". I expected to possibly have fret or tuner issues. I have also heard some people have issues with the pickups being microphonic. I have had none of those issues with my FFLP. I will at some point replace my pickups and the whole electronic package but that was the plan from the start. Very happy with the guitar I received from FireFly. Sorry to hear you had so many problems, but I see you made the changes and enjoy playing it. Rock on!
at the price point of these guitars, the issues you describe are no big deal, and common to almost any brand, regardless of price. if the pick up you changed was faulty, that's a warranty issue, they should have cleared that up for you for free, same with the tuners. the ones that come with the guitar are just fine for rocking out in the living room, provided they work properly. set up work, is something that needs to be done to almost any guitar regardless of price point. when you buy a guitar, (any guitar) if you aren't doing the set up yourself, plan on spending up to $100 to get it set up and playing proper. that's just how it goes. i own 3 gibsons, 2 fenders, an ibanez, and a d'angelico. all of them came needing a set up.
I have four Firefly guitars and I love each and every one of them for the sound and the field for the price you can't beat them I've been building guitars for 40 years and cannot compare the price and the quality of this guitar
Really, do you all live in caves or something? IYV, Xaviere, Eart, Monoprice, Glarry, Hard Luck Kings... there's about a zillion budget guitar manufacturers out there now and virtually ALL of them are more consistent than Fireflys

Great video. I just got 3 new FF guitars and was expecting them all to have the rounded frets but only one did (FFPR). The FFMN and FFJA did not. All are nice guitars though.

I have a Green Bat Elite Firefly. Changed all the hardware to black and installed Seymour Duncan pickups. My Firefly looks so much better without all the gold hardware!
I picked one up last spring and had to rework the nut as two of the slots were cut to low.

Okay Max you broke me, ya happy now I'm a drummer first and far most, I play bass piano and keys also. You have some great guitars on your channel, I never wanted to play guitar in my life. I like looking at a nice guitar so I subscribed didn't want to play one though. About a month ago you had a Vintage triple pickup LP style guitar, it was so affordable I bought both colors. Now I'm teaching myself to play guitar w/ the help of my friend Vince. I like the one featured in this video too. What have you done to me? Stop it leave me alone, I'm a drummer. Lol
I always enjoy your reviews. I have a couple FFLPs, but I'll be selling them on soon. I find the neck is just a bit to chunky for my small and aging hands. Sad, because they're very nice instruments and a really good value. (with the caveat that at this price point, there's always a possibility of getting a clunker.)

Max..another great video and I love my Firefly in green burst (Lizard?) My last guitar player seems to be a total snob about anything non-Gibson..last time he flew into town I showed him my beautiful Firefly LP and he wouldn't even pick it up. WTF is wrong with this proprietary way of thinking? Still don't get the Tab soda thing.

I don't know much about guitar pickups, but one of the criticisms I've heard is that the Pickups are "Microphonics"? I guess they pickup too much outside sound and it makes them not good for high gain. Something like that. It sounded ok here, but do you know if these new ones still suffers from the same problem?
While I've changed the pickups of my older guitars, I kinda want one that just works without having to sink more money into it.
