After 24 years of "The Wolverine show featuring the X-men" from Fox this show gave me everything I wanted & more.
I was and still am a big Wolverine fan but.....24 years of him front and center exhausted me. X-Men 97 shined the spotlight on all of the team which damn near watered my eyes up. Best X-men content we've seen SINCE THE 1990s.

We also saw Polaris briefly in Ep 6, in Cable's flash-forward to a tyrannical utopia. She's using her powers to somehow influence the planet from space.

Everyone was expecting Onlsaught, but being a comic coll3ctor and self named historian (over 40 years collecting, almost 900,000 collected)), I knew it would not happen. Onslaught is what you call an incubator character: one that grows via hints and shadows in the comics. This episode was amazing, from the storyline to the animation, to the cameos by other Marvel heroes (part of the Onslaught incubation process), I love how it ended but hate that we now have to wait for the next season! Kudos to the creators of this series for giving us what we wanted and needed…
I expected that too, I just didn't like it in this episode, and we have to wait for the next season. As someone said, this show is like a breath of fresh air.

I remember in the 90s as a kid thinking there was no way any cartoon or live-action was ever going to attempt the Askani’son/Summers family tree and all the alternate timelines. I thought it would be impossible to get a general audience to be able to grasp all that lore. Wow. It’s actually happening. Bring on Onslaught, Rise/Age of Apocalypse (Nate Grey) and Messiah Complex. I didn’t see Wolverine and Storm in Egypt. I feel like Wolverine is going to be dumped into his soul-searching solo arc and rediscovering himself and his memories. And I sense some kind of X-Force, X-Factor and Generation X teams coming for the “present day” X-Men.
Looks like Gates McFadden as Rachel Summers is joining season 2 and we will get Gambit as a horseman of Apocalypse. I think Rachel Summers is in the 37th Century.
1, I didn't think we were getting Horsemen Gambit so that's extremely surprising.
2, I was doubting any possibility of X-Men v Avengers, but this last episode just threw all that out the window for me, I can't believe it's not just possible, but really likely to happen

I thought it was cool that Jean tried out the Phoenix, but honestly, I think she's way more awesome when she's rocking her own powers instead of relying on some cosmic entity permanently . So glad Jubilee got a power up!!! "Slay me with the 4th of July"
I mean, at this point, the Phoenix is her powers, especially in the comics, Jean is the Phoenix as much as the Phoenix is her
What a phenomenal season of Marvel Television! This season, finale was absolutely incredible, and it really had it all! Great writing, jaw-dropping animation, masterful music, amazing voice acting performances, brilliant pacing, respect for the original source material/90s animated series, and lots of fun/really cool Cameos and Easter Eggs for the fans to enjoy! I'm so excited/hyped for Season 2 and will be counting down the days! This finale and the whole season get a 100/10 from me!

This series was so good! Looks like they're going to follow the Slim and Red miniseries with Nathan, but now I want to know how they'll react when they find out Askani is their daughter, Rachel Summers
After watching the finale, here is my thoughts on Season 1 of X-Men '97:

I made sure to watch this episode before arriving at work today. Did not want to spend the day dodging spoilers constantly. What an epic finale. Can’t wait for season 2!

People think Jubilee is weak, but remember her “Paffs” rival Gambit’s power, they’re all on a subatomic level, she’s capable of mass destruction
Jubilee is a kid. She's doesn't know how to use her powers to its full potential. Hopefully we see her level up in season 2.

X-Men 97 season 1, closed STRONGER THAN THE SCENT OF OLD COLLARED GREENS. Ya'll.....I had to replay Rogue whooping Bastian's a$$ several times before I could even finish the show. Rogue was definitely the MVP of season 1. I was scared for the X-men, the whole episode. Bastian, an already powerful character, leveled up even more, had me thinking, the team needs some kind of nuclear option. At the end, I wonder what timeline did Storm go too? Man, this series was definitely a gift to all X-men fans.
And is Bastion dead? Hard to say. He could come back in a future episode perhaps. Since they are using time travel here, I'm hoping they'll use it to bring back some of the characters that were killed. In any case, I'm extremely satisfied with how this season has gone. Every episode has been five stars except for the kind of silly intergalactic game show one (IMO), and even that one wasn't bad. I guess we'll have to wait an entire year for season two though. :( (But it'll be worth it.)

The writing on this episode was particularly exceptional. The King T'chaka qoute about history books and bibles. Pretty much everything Bastion said. Definitely the best thing marvel has produced in quite some time.

I was a little underwhelmed with the finale. Might be because there were some epic episodes this season so the bar was so high. Nevertheless the season as a whole was absolutely fantastic. Enjoyed your reaction to it.

With the possible exception of the rather silly Intergalactic TV Gameshow Host episode, every episode has been five stars. Just amazing writing, voice acting, animation and visuals, sound effects and music. They deserve to be commended and hopefully win multiple awards for this series. Well done, Marvel!

The first thing Magneto said when returning in the first episode was "Charles Xavier was the finest man I knew. Despite our differences, he never ceased to have faith in our friendship, nor forgive my many failings." That's still true, and Charles unwillingness (pr unability) to give up on Erik has always been both his biggest strength and his biggest weakness.
Man the voice acting on this show is next level.

Making a series that adapts in a good way to the original series and its classic stories. They become a pure work of art. And without a doubt they have made the creators together with De Mayo... being the best of all this year. And its second season, the doors will be open there.👏👏😍😍
If Disney is smart, and thats questionable sometimes, what we just witnessed is the birth of a new Marvel Animated Universe. Nothing else they've done since Endgame has been as universally acclaimed as X-men 97. So long as resources don't get diverted from the core show to do it, I think it would be a travesty not to expand on what they've accomplished.
By the end of Season 2/begining of Season 3 the Gambit we know and love will be back better than ever (now able to charge living things too) but until then you can expect his Death form to kick some ridiculous ass after Apocalypse brings Gambit back from the dead. *Note* The ONLY time Gambit has died in the comics has been in alternate realities but NEVER in the actual 616 universe.
He almost die in X-treme x-men, but Rogue save him.

If season two is half as good as season one was then season three will be greenlit in the near future. X-Men '97 has been almost universally cheered by critics and fans alike, and deservedly so.
Wanda, Pietro, AND Polaris! She's one of my favorites, and she and Havok are a fave couple.

Yeah while she was also in the episode with the iceman and havok love triangle in the og series, we saw her in cable talking about bastions future she was much older but same costume
This episode was actually overwhelming and like I was actually worried for quite a few minutes whether if all the characters will make it through alive or not. The superhero cameos, the emotions, the fight sequences, the background score was a complete rollercoaster ride, it gives me so much hope and happiness for the future seasons of this show, cannot wait for season 2, 3, and 4. (I hope they revive Spiderman 1998 series, loved his and Mary Jane's cameo.) The opening sequence was really nice, I initially thought we were watching a flashback or memory of Magneto with Professor X in the past as young scientists post-WWII, but then the reveal happens that they are both in Magneto's mind, as Professor X is trying to repair his fractured psyche. I am surprised they did not do the Onslaught route, where Magneto's resentment, anger, bitterness overpowers Professor X's abilities and their minds are merged as the new, unstoppable entity known as Onslaught. Cable's psionic moment with his parents was very touching. Cyclops cutting loose against Bastion and Jean as the Phoenix incinerating Bastion was such a high moment. Young En Sabah Nur is eventually destined to become Apocalypse, kind of like young Nathaniel Richards is eventually destined to become Kang the Conqueror. Gambit is going to become Apocalypse's Horseman of Death. Mother Askani who raises young Nathan/Cable in distant future is actually a much elder version of Rachel Summers, the daughter of Scott and Jean. Bishop's back in the present and the he references his friendship with the much older version of Forge in the distant future, it reminded me of the friendship with the Protagonist and Neil in the movie Tenet. All in all, 10/10.

Great finale to an incredible show. The best Marvel streaming series yet! So glad they got Apocalypse in there at the end, he is “invincible!!” Will Gambit become Death, as Apocalypse’s horseman? It was fun watching it along with you guys!! Can’t wait til season 2!!

This has been a phenomenal season. Seems to be an episode missing though. How did Jubilee and Sunspot escape capture? What happened to the girl at Bastions side in episode 8 but not 9? But thats a small nitpick of a great season.
I noticed that Magnetos kids were on the boat with Rogue.... maybe that could foreshadow them appearing in season possibly creating a connection to the mcu. In Wandvision, Wanda could dreamwalk into here other selves. Maybe the death of MCU's Scarlet Witch effected the one in X-Men 97.
At the end Morph, Wolverine and Storm were missing from both past and future groups. Maybe where ever they end up, Morph gets a chance to help Wolverine like Wolverine helped him. Maybe from Apocalypse's control?
One last thing. Wheres Mystique this whole time?Apart from the intro she has been missing. Maybe she'll tie in the Apocalypse story next season.

I didn't pay attention the first I watched this episode but seeing the same board from Marvel vs Capcom game was a nice touch.
Not for nothing, but the last episode premiered on the night of a new moon, and it was about a world-wide blackout.
I just thought that was a funny coincidence.
