- In this weeks episode we have some maintenance issues that arise and we try our best to tackle them despite our limited knowledge. Andre found our cutlass bearing to be bad so we get that replaced in the water, which typically requires hauling the boat out. Join us for challenge tackling this project!

I'm guessing that the threaded piece in your hand is the end of your propeller shaft that has sheared off. Don't think you're going to get that one fixed in the water. That's a real shame as it was all going so well.
Come back next week 😉 it’s a shame but we’re not letting anything get in the way of our travel plans.

It's good seeing how well you kids work together. It shows the love and respect you have for each other. I know y'all want to get going but for some reason y'all weren't to go just yet. When the time is right everything will work out for you to go. God knows what lies ahead of you so trust God's timing and all will be good... That's the biggest thing I've learned over the past 63 years to trust God in all I do and thing work out for my good. Bobby's timing isn't always God's timing. What about using a pneumatic reciprocating saw you hook it up on the low pressure of your regulator for scuba diving and you pull out the shaft and fill the hole with wax ring for a toilet to seal it, and the type of cone that’s use resealing boats with no shaft.
And once you cut out, the brass cut the spare and you can install the new one just a thought

Good job on the cutlass bearing change. It looks like your cutlass bearing has a very thin Nitrile liner. My experience with cutlass bearings with thin nitrile liners is that calcium carbonate deposits so prevalent in tropical waters can quickly damage/destroy the thin Nitrile liner. My first failure was in Key West, second in the French Polynesian Marquesas, and third in an uninhabited atoll in Micronesia. I was able to do an overnight hang in Key West, but changed the other two failed cutlass bearings in the water with an improvised tool. Tired of recurring failure of the thin Nitrile liner, I've switched to one-piece Vesconite cutlass bearings and since never had a problem in tropical waters. Also, looks like you have substantial discolored bronze in your prop and shaft indicating galvanic corrosion. So replacement may soon be necessary. Once all is done, check engine alignment to minimize vibration and wear.
I love watching you guys. You're very scrappy lol. You don't let anything (including being in fire) get in your way of your dreams. Very inspiring! I was trying to hold my breath along with you. Ha! I never would have gotten it done.
Two ideas I had (ignore if you don't like unsolicited advice lol). First, if you really don't think you'll ever need it after this is done, you could sell that tool. If you can afford to keep it though, it might be nice to have just in case.
Also, you guys should start posting YT Shorts. It's a great way to bring new subscribers in. You guys have great content and definitely deserve more subscribers than you have. Shorts have a wider audience and will reach more people.

You guys make great team. Is that the end of the prop shaft? On my boat the small nut goes on first then the big one but there isn’t a cotter pin.
I hang and I umbrella upside down of the shaft so if you drop anything it lands in umbrella.

Rudder gudgeon? It looks like you guys had some galvanic corrosion issues. Were the zincs there at all when you dug into the problem? There is a lot of stray current in congested anchorages.
We took the zincs off with the prop. We did however end up finding some electrolysis on our original bronze shaft.
Well done with the cutlass bearing - Did you know there is a breathing system that uses a weathered bouy that has an air pump to feed a mask underwater.. Might be easier than holding breath, or the expense of compressed air cylinders... Good luck !!
