This is the first time I've truly been able to understand this weave enough to make!! Thank you so very much for showing different ways to make it -- You Rock!!!
I've try it and the easiest way to do it is the last you showed... I actually made a beautiful necklace with the earrings. Thanks for your time and for sharing your knowledge.
A "Helm" is an old term for a helmet, particularly an armour helmet. The Helm chain was used to go under the chin to keep it on, hence its flat design, which could also lay on top of a leather chin strap. basically its a "helmet chain."....as far as I can discover anyway. Dave
Love watching how others teach mailleing. You did a great job, especially showing the alternatives. You didn't show my way, maybe I have been teaching it wrong all these years. 😉
When I teach it, I have them do the bottom row 2 in 1, then add the captured ring then put on the top row. Some times we add seed beads or crystals. That way, they have the right length bracelet and we can add the clasp before time runs out. I usually do two-tone. I have also done it with the connection rings being rubber o-rings to make it stretchy without a clasp. I tell people that I will be teaching them my technique, but as they develop more confidence they will also develop their own technique. I also don't think there is a wrong way, just different. Just like crafting, no mistakes just different view points. I have just recently found you and am working my way through your videos. Would love to chat about gardening sometime and preserving (I don't know how) crops. Love your videos and your talent (actually extremely jealous of your talent, but still love it). You seem to be someone I would actually like to meet someday. If you are ever near MA. . . .
you do beautiful work. I found your tutorial by accident but I'm thrilled I did you make it look easy. I'm going to try this. thanks for share your beautiful work
hi! I just found your tutorial today, and I love it!! Im a beginner and i was wondering if this pattern would still work if I used big rings with a larger diameter than 5/16"? and if i did would i have to size up the small rings too?
Great tutorial, thanks! I've watched it several times now as it's on my playlist that I tend to just rotate while working on my own designs. I can't help noticing the chant you have playing in the background, and probably a silly question, but are you Pagan as well?
Hello yvonne, just learning, would love to make the bracelet. But i worry about the aluminum rubbing off onto skin or clothing. Is there another metal just as malleable as the aluminum? I want to say thank you for all the work you and your hubby put into this business. Thanx, patricia
Like your work and warmth like to know if you have any knowledge to share with me on a particular pattern, it's called the gridlocked Byzantine I have seen only one and not easy to follow You do know your way around some kool chain mail Thank you in advance PS happy holidays
Yvonne Williams, cool, I think I'm going to add a chain on either side and turn it into a necklace. I made your Mobius bracelet, took a minute to figure out. You have a lot of cool things on Deviant Art that you could do tutorials on. Thank you!!
Yvonne Williams , i am very new to making chainmaille and loved your video!! You inspired me to give it a try. I just made this bracelet and am so disappointed it’s so stiff, I can’t bend it to close even with a clasp. I ordered these rings specifically to make this .😟 I just went to the ringlord to re-order 18ga 5/16 as you replied to someone else but they do not carry that size?? Any suggestions?
HOLA!!!! Estoy empeaznado en esto me acabo de jubilar y en México no he encontrado los anillos de colores, por favor me podrías proporcionar el nombre de la tienda donde los compras? GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR!!!!! HERMOSOS TUS TRABAJOS!!!
hey Yvonne how you doing love this one the Joann's near me just started carrying the colored jump rings you make it look so easy love the song you're playing in the background it's one of my favorites BB *huggs*
Coleen Taylor oooo, right on! do you weave chainmaille? also, I have a video I made of my singing this sing in better audio quality than is here: ua-cam.com/video/aKMDfGVCRi8/v-deo.html
Hi, Yvonne. I am new to your youtube channel. I have watched several of your tutorials and really enjoy your projects. You take your time, making the instructions easy to understand. Question regarding your helm weave. When you give the sizes of the jump rings, are you giving the inside or outside diameter?
Is these swg or awg? I bought rings at the ringlord but I think the smaller rings is too small. It's really hard to close them and it's not flexible at all.
Hey, Lois! Thank you so much for your support! Unfortunately I've had to modify my patreon rewards since this video and only ship out craft along kits to the $20 and up tiers, I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
And of course. I've been proven wrong once again. I was watching a video on a totally different kind of bracelet and saw a design in it that I thought I could make a new design from. But I just found out I had made this one. Lol
Thank you for not putting music / or other distraction, you are good at showing how to do the craft in the videos , keep making them
What a complex and great design. A great gift for anyone.

I don't think there is a "wrong" way to do maille! I'd love to learn how you weave it! :-)

Thank you! I made a bracelet for my husband! You are awesome.
Now i can do this weave!!! For me that was the clearest tutorial to follow out there.
Yay! I am so glad to have been helpful to you!!
12:08 ''You'd want the bread to be stretchy...'' Lol ! I love your videos. It's really giving me ideas to make one of these!

Thank you, that was a great tutorial. You have gained Aussie subscriber.
Loved this bracelet, hope to make it when my jump rings arrive

Just tried this, very helpful, thanks!
Sweet!!
Awesome, very helpful. I was having trouble following my written directions. Thanks a million!
I am also a visual learner. Reading and looking at still pictures just doesn't do it for me. Yvonne is so awesome with her instructions are brilliant!
I love it. You make it look so simple!
you do beautiful work. I found your tutorial by accident but I'm thrilled I did you make it look easy. I'm going to try this. thanks for share your beautiful work

greg milstead wow, thanks! :)

hi! I just found your tutorial today, and I love it!! Im a beginner and i was wondering if this pattern would still work if I used big rings with a larger diameter than 5/16"? and if i did would i have to size up the small rings too?
Heya, Mac! If you increase the diameter of the large rings but keep the same wire gauge you can keep the same size small rings :)
thanks for the help!!!!

Nice look beautiful
How can I order the material for the rainbow helm chain in this video
How many of each rings are needed for a necklace
what is 8-1 helms maille? can you do a video on that please.

You do know your way around some kool chain mail

Love your tutorials 👍☺ What's the music in the background???
The second method is the fastest of the two... wholly dependent on the aspect ratio of the rings you are working with. Nice tute!
Neat little chain, can that type of wire be polished ?
Are the 5/16" and 3/16" the inner diameter or outer diameter?
Love the pattern but so flat doesn't make for very good bracelet. What did you do with this??
Hey, Sandi! I sold it as a stiff bangle to a client who was pleased with it. For a less stiff bracelet you can use 18ga 5/16 instead of 16ga :)

that's pretty incredible you make full body pieces like that.. what work. how did you learn this?
robinsings I learned from other artists in the Internet: www.mailleartisans.org/ has a lot of written tutorials, and that's where I started :)
How did you end that bracelet? A clasp? Or just hook it back on itself? I love your tutorials.
Hey, Kitty! I attached a lobster claw clasp to it :)

Heya, Cindy! Sorry for the delay in replying! I am referring to the inner diameter when I talk about ring sizes :)
Hi, Yvonne. Thanks so much for the reply and info. :)
Is these swg or awg? I bought rings at the ringlord but I think the smaller rings is too small. It's really hard to close them and it's not flexible at all.
