That first move under her own power had to be both a relief and a thrilling moment.
She sounds wonderful!
She runs better than my 76 skylark with no oil pressure! Old lady gets woken up in 12 years and goes like "Okay, what short line are y'all putting me onto this time?"
I love it when something that's been sitting for years just needs some Cosby juice and cranks right over running. Like it's been only a week since it's last start up.
Greetings from Belgium! We also had EMD engines on some of our locomotives. The sound they make idle and when they rev up... Keep up the good work! We need to preserve these.

When I was a kid my father did some Locomotive engine repairs and some bogey and electrical repair.
It was for a company that did some coal mining in North Dakota
and I was fortunate to be able to go along.
He and several others actually were replacing the electric cables on the bogeys and there was also some work done on the rocker arms of the engine of the locomotive.
This was in early 1963 I was 8 years old and I will never forget the learning experience and fun that was to be able to make some of the trips with my father and be around and up close to such huge equipment as this.
I had a interest in anything mechanical ⚙️ and electrical from when I was around 5 years old and my father taught me as much as he possibly could.
OMG....the sound of that non-turbo 567 is music to my ears!!

Winton 201A was designed under GM ownership. It was part of the whole two stroke program which ranged from the 71 series Detroit Diesel on up.

8202 looks like it has friction wheel bearings. If so, it wouldn't be allowed on a main-line?
What is the rotary switch above the starting/aux gen fuses on the battery knife switch panel? I can't quite make out the labels...
Truck cut out switch. In case of problems one can operate the loco with one truck.

Not likely. It has plain bearing journals and “Modern” railroads are paranoid of them. Plus we need it at SRM. It’s a great switcher.

In 1938 General Motors renamed the Winton Engine Corporation to the Cleveland Diesel Division. Cleveland Diesel Division was dissolved in 1962 and the entire operation was under the umbrella of the Electro Motive Division of General Motors. GM sold off EMD in 2005 and underwent various ownerships until present time which it is owned indirectly by Caterpillar through its Progress Rail Division. Some people think that Detroit Diesel built these engines. It did not.
