These DJ's back in the day laid the foundation for nuff of the up and coming DJ's.. to follow.. Big up Super Cat.. nuff respect!! Di original don Dada!! 🔥
In the sense of Hip Hop for sure, shabba was more on the side of rnb. Both Shabba and Cat were on the forefronts. Thank you for enlighten us with this comment
I was a fan of reggae/hip hop growing up in new york my personal timeline of early examples goes like this: 1985: The Fat Boys "Hardcore Reggae" 1985: Run DMC & Yellowman "Roots Rock Reggae" 1986: Shinehead (1st independant album) "Who The Cap Fit" "Hello Y'all" 1986: Masters Of Ceremony w/ Grand Puba "Sexy" 1987: Boogie Down Productions "Bridge is Over" "P is Free" "9mm Goes Bang" 1987: Asher D and Daddy Freddy "Raggamuffin Hip Hop" 1987: Just-Ice & KRS One "Moshitup" 1988: Shinehead "Chain Gang Rap" "Know How Fi Chat (remix)" 1988: Boogie Down Productions "Tcha Tcha" "Stop The Violence" 1989: Scringer Ranks "Dun Wid Kuff" 1989: Boogie Down Productions "Bo Bo Bo" "Hip Hop Rules" 1989: Queen Latifah "Wrath Of My Madness" If I had to choose someone as Godfather of the subgenre I would say KRS or Shinehead
I know you're trying hard to give Super Cat credit for mixing reggae/dancehall and hip hop, but that would lead me to believe you never heard the bridge is over by KRS-One. Big up Super Cat still, because he gave it NEW life, but KRS-One gets the credit for merging the two genres.
My number 1 artist and favorite 💯💯🥰💥💥💫💫🌟🌟💯💪🇹🇹😇🙏
Legendary Badboy Cat 👊🏾👊🏾💯💯🔥🔥🔥🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Make great tunes and can move through where most can't... Brought out ninja and Shabba career... Big up/ respect wild apache... 💯

Me a just four years younger than cat
I'm not sure Cat "single handedly created reggae-hip hop". Shabba & KRS came out in 91

Yellow Man was the pioneer of fusion, due to the collab with Run DMC ( Roots, Rap, Reggae)
