The Solara is looking very similar to the Tagora. On the first sight I was thinking it was the same car. At the meeting from May 1st I finally also got to see a Talbot Tagora. These old Simca and Talbot cars are really interesting. Looking really like a comfortable and great car. Loving the many airvents on the dashboard. I also hope to see the brand again on the road.
I loved these old classics !! A friend in London had a Horizon ..but he drove it into a parked car !! lol ..so that was the end of that !! lol Cheers Kiri bro !! I saw that the Solara had a Hemel Hempstead marked number plate.. down the road from my hometown of Watford !!
Here in Spain there was a diesel model called Escorial, basically the same equipment as SX version but 65 hp. The disappearance of this brand was a shock in my country ,even our national police had the Horizon a patrol car in our streets. My family and I had the Talbot solara GLS for 21 years . I wish i could Drive It again. Very good memories. Thank you very much sir for this video
Very well said Kiri, really😄👍There's really nothing left out. Lot's of inside information about this particular Talbot modell and for once luckely a very nice, detailed and really honest story about the devellopment and all the magnificent features in relation to this often understemated car... My respects for doing it this way Kiri👍. Please keep going on making new topics from all the other Simca, and Talbot-cars🤗👍.
I think that Talbot struggled to compete because they did not have enough engines. I recall that the Solara had 1.3 and 1.6 engines whereas the Cortina for example had a 2 litre and a 2.3 V6 and when the Sierra came out they added a 2.3 diesel and a 2.8i XR4i.
Poor sales figures led to the Talbot brand's demise. The Talbot Tagora looked promising but apart from the poor sales figures, it had one fundamental flaw it was dogged with, a poor mediocre ventilation system. The strange thing was, it delivered fan boosted hot air from the central air vents, but in a strange arrangement, only ram flow delivered cold air, powered by the speed of the car moving along to push fresh air through, was delivered to the outer air vents. Most executive cars usually deliver heater blended fan boosted warn air to the outer air vents, and cool independent fan boostable fresh air to the central air vents on the dashboard, unless it's a stratified heater linked system you got like on many 80's Fords many Japanese cars, where you got warm air to the outer vents, and cooler air to the centre vents at part heat or half heat settings, turning warmer from the centre vents as you increased the temperature slider / knob higher.
Thank you for this video and a short revival. I drove a 1984 Talbot Horizon Premium 1.6 and still own a Talbot Matra Murena 1.6.
Great cars but the matra is definitely dream exotic car. Thank you 😊

The Talbot brand kept going into the 90's in the UK with the PSA /FIAT based Talbot Talisman motorhome. I think there was van version as well
You are absolutely right Thank you 😊
Although the Talbot Express van / motorhome version continued into the 90's, the cars DIDN'T, being pulled in the mid 80's amid poor sales.
Great video, these are lovely cars to drive when they're running right, I've had a couple in the past and bought my 3rd earlier this month :)
Nice. Thank you 😊
Carro clássic

Thank you for the information. I didn’t know that in deep detail. So that’s one of the main reasons for poor sales. 👍
