I hope PBS picks these up. You're such an accomplished writer/narrator/raconteur. I have watched maybe 15 of your vids in 5 days and never felt the need to pause, fast forwarded or what have you. Each piece fits with the next to tell a single, flowing story. That narrative integrity and ability to consistently deliver entertainment with education is an unexpected delight. Really well done. Thank you for making these Nick.
Wow. Fantastic video as usual. Very well spoken. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. You made my weekend. Keep up the great work. There are loyal fans watching and the numbers are growing.
Currently going through all your vids, another one of UA-cam’s absolute gems just like JMG’s event horizons that brought me hear. Thank you for your excellent presentation it’s refreshing
Just found your channel, SORT OF. I must have watched an episode long ago and subscribed without knowing. I'm glad I did cause holy sh*t these are great!! THIS is what youtube should be all about! Such quality and great sharing of knowledge
Great video, I've watched it before but I think my brain needs multiple views of things before I really "get it" and as I always gush over your videos, I want to reiterate how much I enjoy the pace of your narration... keeps me engaged for the whole hour... Thanks again for your work!
Your my favorite UA-camr out of all the ones I’m subscribed to. Such good videos that are long and detailed. If you put 10 ads in your videos I’d watch all the ads just to support you. Keep up the videos man they are so good. It’s a shame that people like you that make such good content don’t have millions of followers. I’m so happy I found your videos.
I wasn't so sure I wanted to watch an entire hour of recent and fairly familiar history, notwithstanding how I loved the images that New Horizons sent back. But this entire video is utterly delightful, and I am enjoying every minute of it. Truly a tribute to your creativity, whimsy, and astute choices of images and memes to accompany truly inspired narration. Kudos!!
There it is again with ParallaxNick... it's stuff like this that has me ranting and raving to friends about original UA-cam content, the level of quality is insane when it's a labor of love with no compromises, no Discovery Channel executives to have to deal with. Some of the info feels like its' seeing the light of day outside of scientific journals for the first time. Don't know if it's true, but it does feel that way. At the very least this is stuff that television shows haven't touched yet in such a cohesive manner, while the mesmerizing narrative is all ParallaxNick's.
New Horizon's journey has lasted basically my entire conscious life, and the launch started my interest in space. It will be strange and bittersweet for me when we loose contact with it.
Oh man...I'm so glad to get plugged into your channel again! I kinda got homeless this summer and couldn't pay for a phone and then my phone was stolen ... Tonight I'm finally back online and yours is the first channel I went to. Hope your doing good!!!! Please keep posting!
As with many I believe I fell asleep to this playlist and woke up to this final, climactic episode, which I then had to rewind and watch from the start. Again. I doubt that many UA-camrs have such a fervidly enthusiastic fanbase as yourself and I'm pretty sure that a lot would buy the DVD series not because we needed to (we've all seen the contents after all) but simply to show a little concrete thanks for your huge efforts in these productions. Thank you.
Wow, just binged watched your entire Universe of Water playlist.. EPIC!! I love your delvery, presentation and sheer weight of information, You Sir, are to be applauded.. I'm a believer and now, a Subscriber..
Wow 1 hour!!! Youre honestly too good to us, id have been happy with 3 twenty minute episodes or 6 ten minute videos, but this is so unexpected. Or 60 one minute videos.... Seriously though this is bloody amazing, ive seen all of your videos and some of them multiple times. So an hour could easily keep me entertained for multiple hours. Thumbs up and favourite and may the youtube gods smile on you and give you blessings
⭐️ And a footnote: In November 2019, “Ultima Thule” was officially named *Arrokoth* by the IAU from a suggestion from the JPL team, Alan Stern included. It’s a Powhatan word meaning “sky.” See the Wiki article for the origin: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/486958_Arrokoth
- IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME. Do you have _any idea_ how stale my popcorn is after all these months?? 😉 - When you finish this series I want to buy a DVD box set. I'm serious. - My god. New Horizons bluescreened _10 days_ before its peri-hadean approach? If I had been on that team I might've actually shit myself in panic. - I disagree with the idea that Magellan's crew would've been content to let machines circumnavigate the Earth for them. For a great many people, watching or reading is not (and indeed, _shouldn't be)_ a sufficient substitute for doing. In 2019 everyone with a computer knows what the summit of Mt. Everest looks like, but that's no substitute for _actually climbing the mountain,_ which is why Mt. Everest is so clogged with mountaineers nowadays that they have to _literally stand in line_ for a chance to stand on the summit. Those Millennials who say "born too late to explore the Earth, born too soon to explore the galaxy" are upset because they want to explore the galaxy _in person._
Great video as always. I did see a presentation by the New Horizons team earlier this year. In the Q&A afterwards Alan Stern said the New Horizons spacecraft itself would probably have to find its next target. He felt confident they could spot its next target and maneuver towards it several months before closest encounter. He didn't think any telescope on or near earth could do it.

Just happened to think about not seeing your videos pop up in my feed lately. I do a search, and viola, new upload a day ago. Perfect. Keep up the good work.
I was worried you’d gone dark, but seeing the length of this video showed me you were just working on a massive project. It was well worth the wait. Thanks again for making such interesting content. Hopefully your channel will grow larger soon ;)
When you increase the length, everything expands; research time, writing time, audio recording, video editing. Believe me, I didn't set out to make an hour-long episode. In fact I plan to be more disciplined in my writing in future.
@@parallaxnick637 Oh, that is interesting! I was curious since Google returned no search results. Now you've made me want to study ancient Greek. Might come in handy one day :P
All that amount of work for a one-hour video and 30K viewers, some of them viewing more than once so the actual number of unique viewers might be 10K-ish. I was glad to even find this channel to begin with.
Simply superb. I waited until I had some quiet time to myself before watching. What I found was your characteristic homage of those that pull the ropes of science, exploration and progress. The length was perfect and you've taken a big step forward on audio quality. Was the opening quote from Dan Simmons' Hyperion?
Ahh, such a good video! A full hour of Pluto and New Horizons really gets me; the story of one of my favorite planets is just way too good. Thanks you very much as always! There was a bit of a repeat with some of the Pluto stuff from your Planet 9 series, of course, but I really couldn't have minded less. I loved hearing the story about how Alan Stern got New Horizons launched in the first place, he works really well as the protagonist of the first half of this story. And interestingly this is the first time I've ever heard of racist connotations for the name "Ultima Thule", so I guess that's a good sign.
I`ve been saying that Charon needs an upgraded status for years. Pluto should have been demoted, the minute it`s actual mass was realised. I`d go further and demote the likes of Phobos and Deimos to Natural Satellites. (Anything smaller than Mimas)
@@parallaxnick637 Basically Yes. If it has enough mass to pull itself into a sphere, then it's a Moon. If not, just call it a natural Satellite. So Saturn would have 6 Moons and 76 NS Mars would have No Moons and 2 NS
I loved this series so far. I have spent much of my spare time over the last few days watching many of your videos. Really great stuff. What happened to the "next episode" referred to at the end of your monologue?
You make such great videos i listen to one every night before i fall a sleep its really something else! I wish you all the success you can have on UA-cam :)
I don't care one bit that you have a slower release schedule because every single time I see you have a new video, I know immediately that it's going to be high quality content.
Pluto was not demoted, it was reclassified. Imagine your job, whatever it is, was transferred to another department and given a different title. You pay, benefits, hours, company you work for and work location all stay the same. The only things that change are who signs your paycheck and what your job title happens to be. Would you say that you had been demoted if, say, your job title changed from "Technical sanitary office worker" to "janitor"?
