- Petalioi is an island complex located in the southern Euboea bay. They belong to the municipality of Karystos in the region of Sterea Hellas. The cluster includes 10 islands which are all uninhabited. In the near past, however, a small population maintained the Megalonissos and Hersonissos, which are the largest islands in the complex. The other islands of the complex are Avgo, Lamperousa, Flower, Makronissi, Pontikonos, Prasos, Tragos and Fakti. The total area of the complex is about 22.5 square kilometers.
The Petalli in the Turkish occupation belonged to Omer Pasha of Karystos and hosted his harem. In 1830, the Greek state offered to Tsar Nikolaos I as gratitude for its effective contribution to the liberation of Greece. In 1867, his successor Alexander II gave them a gift to Olga Konstantinova's niece at her marriage to the King George of Greece. Later, Prince George sold them to the ship owner Embirikos. Και στον Αντονι Κουην ειχε χαρισει ο Δημος Ροδου μια περιοχη διαμαντι...για να την αξιοποιησει.
Δεν εκανε τιποτα και οταν θελησε να την πουλησει του το απαγορευσαν .

Δυστυχώς δεν ξέρεις τίποτα για τους πεταλιούς, ούτε κάν, και ποιοι τα έχουν αγοράσει κατά καιρούς και σε ποιον ανήκουν σήμερα. ... είμαι από μαρμαρι και ξέρω πολύ καλά την ιστορία!
