I saw this clip once with the director Elia Kazan's voiceover commentary. Kazan said the actress dropping the glove was a complete accident, not at all in the script. In fact, she immediately tries to pick it up, but Brando, in a complete improvisation, snatches it off the ground and begins to play with it, going so far as to put it on, an act which Kazan notes has subtle erotic undertones. Yeah, that was Brando.
Marlon barely articulated you can hardly understand his words but you feel his emotion. How I wish I was alive in this time when theater and film was raw and courageous.
Beautifully directed, shot and acted. Love Brando putting on her glove. Great touch.

The use of b&w in this film is so gorgeous.
It could not be filmed properly in any other way.
If you haven't seen this then you are in for a treat. Great movie with a powerful ending and one that is one of Brando's best.
I never get tired of this scene.
