Heyyy, I really need some advice, would really appreciate if someone could help me out!
I'm going to be giving my AS exam next month and rn I'm really conflicted to weather or not I should take the exemption ( basically if I take this my grade for paper 1 and 2 will be averaged and paper 3 will be completely excluded )
I gave a mock on both the physics and chemistry paper but my time management was really bad and I ended up needing 3 and a half hours for the chem p3.
Another thing is I'm really not confident, so I'm worried I might mess up my lab exam which will affect my over all grade.
I told my teachers this but they say I should not take the exemption and do the lab exam.
Are you feeling more confident now?
I did respond on insta and I believe she did feel better💕👍🏽
@@AskAseel hey! Thank you so much for responding here! Unfortunately I didn't get any message from you on Instagram? Perhaps that was another account. But I'm happy to let you know that I ended up taking the exemption for my labs and scored A (85%) in physics, and a B (78%) in chemistry for my AS! I'm happy with my final decision as not taking the practicals allowed me to focus more on papers 1 and 2 instead.
Oh my mistake. I’m really happy that you’ve made the best decision for yourself and got these amazing results🥰❤️❤️ Congratulations🥳🥳
@@AskAseel hey girl no problem! And aww thank you so much for saying that 🥺❤️.

17:38 Qualitative Analysis
Just a checkpoint for me 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I felt really scared but now much more peaceful cause of all the tips.
Awwww Im really really happy you feel more at ease now🥰
when we are testing for anions, in markschemes i always find two general repetetive options which are and , which one should i stick up to? are they both acceptable?
The different tests will test for the presence of different anions. You don’t stick to only one. You do whichever one depending on the question.
exam in three houursss ouuff im soo nervous, when we test the anion adding ammonia, that can be added to the sample with NaOH or should i spill it out and add to the sample itself only?
GOODLUCK✨✨ Remember to breath in and out when you start to feel nervous and if your hands are shaking, you can try wiggling your toes to calm yourself down. Simply follow the instructions on the ions test sheet. If NaOH is included then keep it, if not then spill it out. You don’t need to do anything different from the sheet.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏
You are very welcome sweetie✨
and when they ask us to heat gently do we simply just place the test tube in a bunsen burner or in a water bath?
Most likely a Bunsen burner. I think I’ve only used the water bath for the bio practical.
hey, great video. thank you so much. im very bad at the calculations and i often don't know how to get teh answers right. how can i improve my situation? please reply soon my a levels are within few weeks.
Hey, thank you! Honestly the only way to improve in that area is to practice. Most of the calculations are the same so the more you do it the easier it’ll be and faster you’ll get at solving it.
Thank you soo much. This was really helpful. I have one question though, For qualitative analysis how do you know whether you should add an excess to see whether a ppt is soluble in excess?
You’re very welcome boo💕 I’m glad it helped! For thé qualitative analysis you should always add excess.
@@AskAseel Thank you:)
for the question where they ask us to test FA6 and FA7 with their GIVEN reagents, should i carry on further test about the reagent in excess like they said in the first lines of question 3 or were they talking about the tests that i will be carrying (NaOH and NH3) only? lmao i hope u get my point haha x
I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re saying tbh lmao sorry can you reword it
@@AskAseel like the one of the given table observation question, where we just record what we see, should we record also what they gave us to test wuth the reagent in excess? or should I only record my excess observation when I make my own test of NaOH and NH3 that is usually worth 5 marks?
@Lina Abdelshafy ohh I see now. Yeah only test with excess if there’s an observation for it given in the ions test sheet at the back of the exam. You don’t have to do anything other than what’s mentioned in the test sheet
For instance if we are to test FA1 how could we know if gas is present in it is there so method or we just carry out gas test for it along with identifying if it's soluble in excess and all
Yeah you’ll basically just carry out a gas test cause that’s the only way you’ll know if a gas is present
i have a question, but first of all thank you so much for actually solving a p3 without using the lab, was lost at first but you lead me into practicing it visually ..
is there a way you could get a full mark in this paper by going through all of the papers and understand the how its structured or p3 is one of those papers where its impossible to score a full where it leaves you with one mark hanging for example, because my teacher said the highest she got was 37 to one of her students, so is there a way to beat the algorithm?!!
You're very welcome boo. I'm sure you can get full marks, yes they take into account the teacher's values, but they also provide an acceptable range on how different your values could be from the teacher's. If everyone in the class got the same answer, except for the teacher I'm pretty sure they'll dig deeper into that or you can ask them to remark it if you've asked your classmates and you all got roughly the same answer. To summarize, you can definitely get 100% with practicals as most of the papers are identical in nature. It really just comes down to how well you perform the actual experiment i.e your experimental data and your stoichiometry skills.
You are great and so helpful
Can yo tell me which program you are using for recording
Thank you! Do you mean the screen recording of the pastpaper?
@@AskAseel yes please

Thank you 🙂
I really think that this absolute uncertainty thing is rather confusing. Apparently it is completely different from Physics (they seem to not allow smallest division x 1/2), meanwhile in a Physics practical I wrote all my measurement results to the nearest measurement + 1, thereafter my Physics teacher joked with me about "having a precise laser eye that sees further one decimal place" 😂😂😂
You’re welcome!!!
Lmaooo it really is interesting 🧐
I wonder why that is 🤔
Maybe just different instruments?
@@AskAseel Most likely... When I use a metre rule that measures to nearest millimetre (0.1 cm), the percentage uncertainty seems to be 0.1/value, (sometimes they even promote the estimation of absolute uncertainty between 0.2-0.5 cm). But I think the Chemistry way of doing it makes more sense as a buret can read a value of 0.05 when water level is at the middle of the two lines... Similar to a protractor, but they don't allow decimal places since the smallest division is 1° 😂
You’re so right😂
At the end of the day nothing is 100% accurate in the real world
in 07:47 you said the difference between each titre is no more than 0.10 cm3, but in average, if you have titres that are within 0.10 right, why did you say average must be within 0.20 of the titres used.. so in the exam, lets supposed i did 3 trials, should i put the values i got that are between 0.10 within each other or 0.20???
The reason I said that, is because in the marking scheme they are giving the examiners options to give you marks so if your titre isn’t within 0.10 cm3 they can give you a mark for the average as long as you choose the titres that are no more than 0.20 cm3 apart
Hi. Why in 1c iii) Concentration is divided to 4? Also, why in 2 b iii) ionic equation of BaSO4 was written. Could you please explain it to me. I will have exam tomorrow. Thank you
Hi, we divided by 4 since that’s what was shown in the marking scheme but it means the same thing as I explained at 12:00 with the multiplication by 4. So the general math rule where you divide by a fraction is the same as multiplying it’s reciprocal. For 3a iii) we were asked to write the ionic equation that’s why. It was also something we used in (3aii). Good luck on your exam❤️
Hi, thank you so much for making this video. I am a private candidate taking A Levels this may session and I really needed this. I did not have any practice doing experiments at all, but I will try to do one experiment for every type as you've shown. Can you also post a video for physics? Like what are the types and examples of experiments that we should do?
Heyyy! You’re so welcome💕 I can understand how tough it can be to go through A levels as a private candidate! You can do this for sure! I haven’t done the physics A level exam but I’ll go through the papers and see what experiments are repetitive :)

Heyyy! Sorry it's been a while. Do you still need the physics video or do you feel confident with your abilities?
Can't thank you enough for this video, It really helped. There's this one thing I'm really confused about, the Qualitative Question (3). What is the amount of FA6 and NaOH (Reagent) that needs to be added in the test tube to obtain the observations?
Slipped out of my mind 😩
I’m glad it helped 🥰 you just need a small amount for example 1 cm from the bottom of the test tube. Like you can just eye it. And then you can add excess to see if any changes occur
@@AskAseel Thankyou so much! Its creators like yourself which make the internet a better place for everyone 💪
Awww thank you🥺
i struggle with the ion test part, how do i know exactly the compound i have? is it from my observations?
Yes it’s from your observation
@@AskAseel and for the maximum percentage error, for a burette its 0.05 absolute uncertainty right? why do we multiply it by 2 tho when calculating percentage error?
Yes, that’s because you read the burette twice, once for the initial reading and a second time for the final reading
hi! awesome video but id like to ask if you could list all of the practicals present for as? we dont even do practicals in class so its kind of hard finding the practicals required..
Hey! Thank you! Are you saying practicals for other subjects like physics and biology?
@@AskAseel sorry for not specifying but just for chemistry 😅😅
@@questionabile724 no worries! So the main practicals were mentioned at 1:53
Once you do enough past papers you’ll notice that the questions in the exam are pretty repetitive. They’ll fall under the 4 topics. So you can search up videos on how to do titration for example and put AS level in your search so it’s more specific to your need. I don’t have access to a lab atm so I can’t do the experiment and film it.😩

any tips on time management? 😭 i am slower than a tortoise i swear, i can never complete my practical work during lab sessions and if i miraculously do, completing the calculations in the time limit is unimaginable
Omg I was just like you 😭. Honestly it’s just practice. The more you do the practicals the faster you’ll get at them. Same with the calculations. At 5:00 I show you the method I use to solve the exam on time. Maybe that would be good for you too but of course everyone is different and you’ll need a different method. 11:43 do we only get marks if we calculate Mr from the concentration? because we could just not simplify this and do it step by step instead
Hey! What do you mean by simplifying it? Also the question specifically asks us to use the concentration in c(ii) so that’s why we have to use it. It also helps to have those comments in the questions or else it’s easy to feel stuck and unsure of what to do next😊
@@AskAseel oh thank you i totally didnt read that bit 😭 that clears it up

how did i know that barium nitrate and hcl would be the suitable tests in question 3?
From the question we are told that the anion is either a sulfate, sulfite or halide. So that means you’ll be performing a maximum of two tests. If you are lucky the first test will give you an answer. So for this question it was a sulfate so doing the barium nitrate test with HCL gave me the white ppt that’s insoluble in HCL. If it was a halide you wouldn’t get this observation.
@@AskAseel ohh okay so i just select a suitable test from the back of the paper?
@@linaabdelshafy6524 yes exactly👍🏽
how about the reagents? will they be labelled fro us?
Yes they will be 👍🏽
Hi, I have to ask. Is it possible to get an A in AS level if I fail the practical

oh and i have my chem p3 mock tomorrow
and I know for sure that ill be getting a hess cycle enthalpy question and that my 3rd question will be organic
so how do I prepare for my test
please help a
and thankyou for being one of the only UA-camrs who actually read and reply to the comments may god bless you
Honestly, the only way to prepare is through practice and self-confidence. If you have done these experiments in class then you are ready. I repeat, if you have done these experiments in class, then you are ready. The only way you can mess up is if you get in your own head and start to doubt yourself. As for the calculation questions, practice solving them with random numbers. What's important is understanding the method used to solve the question. Once you have the method down, the only difference between different exams would be the numbers you get. Believe in yourself and see the mock exam as practice for the real exam later on.
Thankyou❣️
i have a doubt
in the equation Q=mc(temp change)
is m only the mass of water and liquids that have same density as water
or the substances added like for example I have a solution of 20cm^3 and I add 4g of FB5( salt Na2A.5H2O)
then do I add the mass of FB5 also to get Q=(20+4)*4.18*(temp change)
or would I just do Q=20*4.18*(temp change)
please answers I have my p3 exam tomorrow
Hopefully it’s not too late. But you would basically only consider the mass of your water if you’re adding a solid into the water. If ur adding liquid into the water then you’ll add up the masses. Goodluck!!
oh ok
i actually got it cleared but thanks anyways@@AskAseel 💘
@@rifannizar8629 you’re welcome! Was the reasoning the same?
yes@@AskAseel
Is there an error carry forward? For the calculations, and what parts of the practical can I fabricate and what parts do I actually have to do
There should be an error carried over so you should be fine. You shouldn’t be fabricating anything tbh cause they’ll compare your results with the class and if it’s very different then they’ll know you made it up.
@@AskAseel thank you and I finished my exam a few days ago ( I watched this on the eve) and your advice really helped especially since I barely practiced any practical at all

Yes you can do that just make sure you have enough of the liquid
heyy, for question 1c(iii) why did you divide the answer you got in 1c(ii) by 4 in the denominator
Heyy! I did that because Mr is given in mol/dm^3 and to get dm^3 from cm^3 we divide by 1000 so 250/1000 is 1/4. Hope that makes sense!

Sorry about that the correct option is what’s written on the screen
Is it wise to do the practical exam with zero practise before hand? I need help!!
I personally wouldn’t recommend it.
But do remember that the practical paper is worth less compared to the other papers. So you can focus on doing really well on the other papers and just do your best for the practical. You can watch videos and grab some fake equipment and sort of visualize yourself doing the experiment to build muscle memory
How to tackle the calculation questions?
I provided a step by step walkthrough in this video. The only difference would be the values you get from your experiment, but the methods themselves should be similar.
Got my paper in two hours learning it now
Fresh in the mind! You got this 👏🏽
Is it a requirement to rinse the apparatus before an experiment like the burette in a titration
No that should be done by your instructor before the exam
What about apparatus between experiments, like i saw questions that ask to use the same measuring cylinder to measure two reagents without explicitly asking to rinse between usage while they ask to rinse in otherd
I would say rinse it when dealing with different materials, but in general your instructor should be placing the right amount of apparatus for each student.
How should I prepare for chemistry p3 as a private candidate

For titration question, do you mean that each titre have to be no more than 0.1 cm^3 apart? So let's say if my first volume is 25.7 cm3 then the second volume have to be 25.8 cm3?
No no it just means that it’s best that the difference between each titre is no more than 0.1 cm^3. So it doesn’t have to 25.8 it could be 25.6 or another number as long as it’s not too different
LMAOO sorry for the endless questions i keep asking, my exam is after tmrw so i wanna make sure i know as many notes about this paper as possible. i was gonna ask you that when we test a substance and a gas is given off, how can we determine whether its carbon dioxide or hydrogen etc..like i wouldnt be prepared to test for the gas immediately after its given off, like for example i use hydrogen glowing splint test or limewater? does this mean i have to repeat the experiment?
Lol it’s okay😂
You’d most likely be given some sort of hint in the questions and if you check the markscheme for some observations it’s enough to say that there is effervescence without identifying the gas released. You might also just have to repeat the experiment.
@@AskAseel when repeating the titrations, will we have access to extra conical flasks or will we just pour the contents out and repeat?

will the grade threshold this O/N be the same as the last series, i.e. M/J 2022

Question to those who took it. How many times should you repeat each of the experiments for quantitative analysis?
I believe I mentioned it in the video, but at least 3 times.🧪
Yes, thank you ❤. I just thought that we have to repeat them only for titration, so means that it’s also applicable to the gravimetric analysis (mass related experiments etc.), right?
You’re welcome 🥰 hmmmm I just checked a couple papers and it doesn’t look like you need to repeat 3 times for the other experiments 🤔 but it’s been a while since I did the AS Level exam myself, so if someone else who’s done it more recently can hopefully give a more definitive answer
Thank you 🙏. One more question, before doing the titration, do you have to rinse the burette with distilled water or acid that you’re going to use to remove impurities or you can just proceed with the titration straight away?
You’re welcome 🥰 your burette should be cleaned by your prof before the exam begins. But if u have extra reagents then there’s no harm in doing a small rinse with it!
Hi I have a question for question 1 what was the indicator. In other words what was the end point?
You’ll know the end point when there is a colour change. That’s why in part (a) they ask for a rough titre. So you’ll keep adding acid at a faster rate than in the steps were they ask for more accurate measurements. Once you get close to the amount of acid that caused the change in colour of the solution in the flask you’ll slow down and start adding acid from the burette drop by drop. Lmk if that helps or if I misunderstood you’re question!
@@AskAseel noted but what if there is numerous colour change would they just give the end point of the indicator colour?

Hi! Hmmm when you do the test, if you see bubbling or effervescence that’s a good sign to test for a gas.
You are the best 🥺❤️
Can you please do paper 4 physics feb/mar 2018 0625/42 for IGCSE 😫💕💕
Thank you💜💜 and sure thing! 💖
How soon do you need the video to be uploaded?
@@AskAseel as soon as you can 🥺💕
@@nanachka._ will do 🥰
@@nanachka._ yo we need to appreciate this angel for solving papers just for us. such a sweetheart fr
@@AskAseel please can you do it in this week because the next week my exams 🥺🥺💕💕💕💕💕
Could have been nice if the paper was filled with assumed values
Anyway top work 👍
I agree! Thank you tho✨
I just Cannot get the calculations right everrr
Painnn😭😭 Is it the method that you’re not getting or does your calculator give you wrong answers?
@@AskAseel i cant seem to understand the method like its all ok until the average part but whenever there’s a question about calculating the value of x in a certain compound i completely go blank😭
Hmmm since that’s where your problem lies, for the next couple days just do those types of calculations till it’s grilled into ur mind 😭😂 to the point ur hand starts to write before you even finish reading the question cause you already know what steps to take😂👏🏽. It’s been a while but do I explain how to calculate it in my video?
@@AskAseel and also the last parts the explain your answer ones
@@AskAseel The only problem is I have a mock exam in like 7 hours so i’m just trying to get a hang of it until i put more time into it, unfortunately the video doesnt have such a question
I don't know if you're going to respond to this but I NEED HELP SIS
I'm a private candidate with NO experience of ever being in a lab. I'm retaking my chemistry As and last time, I got the exemption for P3 for bio, physics, chem. I don't have access to a lab or a good mentor to help me through. Are there any simulations/digital lab/youtube videos that cover the whole of chemistry P3 (I'M FREAKING OUT AND I ONLY HAVE A MONTH LEFT AND I FOUND OUT THAT THEY'RE NOT OFFERING EXEMPTIONS JUST TODAY PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS)
Hi Aura, I'm sorry to know that you're stressing and that you don't have access to a lab or a good mentor.😕 I don't know of any simulations at the top of my head, but if you find some online I can take a look at them and tell you how similar they are to the actual exam. As for UA-cam there are many great videos like this one: ua-cam.com/video/sFpFCPTDv2w/v-deo.html that can help you visualize how to perform the experiments. Like I mentioned in my video there is only a couple different types of experiments that you need to know how to perform so if you can focus on those, you'll do great! I hope that helps. Lmk if you still have questions 🤗
@@AskAseel Thank you so much! I hope I make it through these exams. UA-camrs like yourself and ETphysics etc. are my lifeline currently. I can't wait for this to be over. Meanwhile, I'll just keep practicing T^T
I believe in you!! Keep me updated on your progress!💗💗
