Nearly 10 years have passed and he's still able to open minds; and, we will continue to keep his memory alive. He's still on my mind today, in 2021.
I feel that he changed the world for the better, by opening minds both near and far. His widow appears to be a wonderful person as well; it would be nice, to hear her speak about similar subjects.

From the age of twelve I was a lost cause to my fiercely Roman Catholic family. The interventions, the wasted prayers for me just made me giggle and in Christopher I found my hero. Rest in Peace dear man, I know we won't meet but know that you are well thought of.

Michael Dewey SEO Videography Soooo wrong! Actually it's the Jesuit Roman Catholic lucifarian church of SATAN that created islam and groomed mahammad from the age of 12 to be a false prophit to help the vatican control the darker races and to instill the seed of hate so the would eventually help fulfil biblical prophecy and slaughter the jews and true Christians for the Jesuit Roman Catholic lucifarian church of satan.
The same pagan beast system that is behind the religion of evolution and hatheism and the old New Age Movement to help them fulfill the goal of a NEW WORLD ORDER AND ONE WORLD RELIGION TO WORSHIP SATAN.
The hathiests also are programmed to kill the Christians along with islam only the vatican was smart enough to instill hatred in both the islam to kill all who don't believe the religion and hate in the hathiests so in the end after they all kill off the jews and true Christians they will kill eachother off as well.
Which is a strategy to bring the population down combined with manufactured natural disasters and planned false flag events and organized chaos to the point that the JESUIT ROMAN CATHOLIC LUCIFARIAN pagan CHURCH OF SATANWORSHIPPERS BEAST SYSTEM can easily enslave the survivors.
THE SAME people behind the people who created the Eugenics agenda
      ● slow death agenda
      ● Planned parenthood ( murderhood )
      ● hitler and
      ● Stalin
Both proponents of the eugenics agenda to kill
95% of the human population and enslave who's left outside of the 13 bloodlines of the elite that put up the Georgia Guidstones and their families.
Utilizing many other small agendas that make up a vast network of one goal. The TOTAL WORLD TAKEOVER!
No religion just a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ the redeemer and savior and creator of the world and anything good that goes on in it. - Blessings2u

The fact that someone as devoted and inspirational as Hitchens would be sent to hell by the god of the Bible for simply not believing, while Stalin could go to heaven if simply repented before he died, is infuriating. I've watched Hitchens so much that I almost feel like he was a close friend, because he helped me along on my bumpy road to atheism (from years of Christian indoctrinating) and, ultimately, the happiness and knowledge that I enjoy today. How could a sane person wish that Hitchens -- someone who spoke only of wisdom and free thinking, and never of any kind of violence -- would be immediately sent to eternal torture for his thoughts, while the most despicable and hateful person could have a last-minute change of heart and be on equal standing as all upright Christians? The very idea of a system like that makes me physically cringe. How can someone buy into that bullshit?

Thank you Mrs Hitchens. I found Mortality sad and difficult to start reading. I held it to my heart and kissed it before I opened it and began reading. The reason I found it sad and difficult to start reading was because I knew it was the last book the finest composer of a sentence would ever write. Needless to say once I started reading I couldn’t stop till there were no more pages to turn. It was inspiring, empowering and written the only way Christopher new how to write, absolutely brilliantly. One of the most accurate reviews I’ve read about Christopher, I’m not sure who it was and I’m paraphrasing here but it was something like, “ you’re better off having the blade of a sword at you’re throat than to have Christopher Hitchens raise his pen against you”. No sword could match a pen wielded by that brilliant man.

Why talk about God if you claimed He didn’t exist? My guess? He did it for the money and boy, was that money great for him. He was just like the evangelists he railed against; fame seeking, money grabbing. He wasn’t an atheist because he had no proof that God didn’t exist. He knew God existed but was pissed at religion. But instead of being smart and addressing false religion, he does what too many people do. He threw out the baby with the bathwater and in the process, threw out his common sense; and for what? A little money?

    • @pbaylis1
      @pbaylis1 8 років тому +9

+Rafael de Belen I don't think he deserves the term "warrior of reason". Hitchens' brand of strong proactive atheism is without reason. It is emotional and silly. If you want "reason" look to people with completely open minds about the possibility of the supernatural - like the ancient philosophers who didn't have the anti-religion agendas etc of today. Look at people like Anthony Flew and other converted scientists who had the guts to go against their entrenched colleagues and follow the evidence where it led. Hitchens' atheism is without reason because it has already concluded that God does not exist. We don't even know what is at the edge of the universe or in the deepest oceans. We can't yet explain how humans evolved from gases and bacteria, yet HE knows God doesn't exist. Apparently some animals can discern the presence of disembodied spirits, but HE knows God doesn't exist. Thousands of people have experienced religious NDEs. Yet HE JUST KNOWS God doesn't exist. ZERO reason, ZERO logic.

But he was a adamant defender of the most vulnerable among us. He would not soften his language among people who disagreed with him. When he saw murder, he called it murder. When he saw torture, he called it rape. And he did it regardless of how much power the perpetrator had. Henry Kissinger, Mother Theresa, Billy Graham, no one was too big or too holy.

It's not that I'm afraid to criticize Islam, it's that I want to be well informed when I do so. It's also the issue that the debate against Islam is quite polarized, so you need a sort of balance. Hitchens had great credibility so he could never have been abused by racists and right wing extremists to fuel pure hatred. I'm accused of being afraid of Islam all the time, but it has nothing to do with reality and it's quite destructive.

He had an obsession with knowledge, with understanding, with discovery. He was what we should all strive to be, curious beyond measure.
We should never stop asking the intelligent questions, or instead make up the answers for them, like religion claims to.
Hitchens knew that well enough, he exposed hypocritical preachers, he slandered unworthy archbishops and priests, he educated the uncultured masses, he corrected news anchors, and led some of the most interesting debates about some of the most interesting topics (ranging from current affairs and war to religion) with some of the most interesting people.

Perhaps the most underrated man in modern times, his speaking and writing style should be taught to English students and his atheist arguments should be taught in religious studies. In my opinion he is one of the greatest men to have ever lived. The greatest role model a young man can have I think. Even in death he remained noble and philosophical, I think he enjoyed every second he spent on earth and I value every moment I see Mr Hitchens on my screen. It was a true honour to hear Christopher and I will talk to my children about him with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye.

This is so bizarre. I watched Hitchens debate for years when he was still alive, witnessed his last months where he looked worse and worse (health-wise) at each public apparition and kept going back to watch a lot of his videos for years at this point.. And this is the first time I'm realizing he had a wife and seeing this specific video.
She seems a lovely lady as well, and by the way she speaks of him they sounded like a happy couple in a solid relationship.

I would imagine that in many ways he was difficult to know and not particularly easy to like. Anyone who felt that certain about..... well, anything, and had the erudition and education to articulate that must have been hard to deal with at times. He did have quite an ego, but he was so able to back it up.
His “God is not great” is a devastating work, from which there is no coming back. Anyone of any faith should surely have turned away if they had truly read it. I can honestly say his arguments truly opened my mind, and put into words exactly what I thought, only so much more skilfully.
