I knew David's #1 on the top 5 as soon as the topic was announced. That's my favorite sound, too, and I could hear it in my head as soon as the question was asked.
Absolutely! We have loved the Disneyland sound experience since our very first visit! That was the genesis of our show and something we continue to enjoy on every visit!
My first trip into Galaxy's Edge had me pretty much in tears with emotion. If you're my age, and grew up with Star Wars, it is so...I'm gonna say it...MAGICAL!
2 things that grind my gears: when people full stop in a walkway. Like they are clueless that people are behind them. And when people take pictures and have no idea there are other people around them.
Really am fascinated by how Walt recruited the Stanford survey team to establish the Disneyland property boundaries!! Out In those orange orchards! 🍊🍊🍊🍊 He had an instant for securing the best engineers, imagineers, artists of all kinds… one and all!!…to get done what he wanted to do!!👏😃
Would be cool to have a picnic area in ToonTown and a family style picnic basket you could purchase. Great money and memory maker. Could even have some characters in the area. Like a “Picnic with Mickey and Minnie.”
Loved the kids area, Bugs Land, including the splash pad, in DCA so much when our kids were little. I expect many parents of smaller kids (and there are a lot of them I bet!) esp with APs, would head straight there for lunch. A packed picnic would be cute.
I’m so sad that they are changing the look of Jazz Kitchen. I love the New Orleans look. I love that it looked like the heart and birth place of jazz music. And I love history and historical architecture. To me, it’s like changing Haunted mansion to a modern Beverly Hills mansion. The new modern look to Jazz Kitchen doesn’t look jazz at all.
Top 5 sounds 5: The Parrot at the entry of Pirates 4: The Ghost Host Haunted Mansion 3: The Train whistle and "all aboard" 2: The Disneyland Esplanade Music 1: Thunder Mountain "Wildest ride in the Wilderness"
Thank you David and Ron for this information I for one do like that Downtown Disney is trying to offer a wider variety of experiences but as you gentlemen have mentioned this was NOT the information that we were hoping for. I do believe that the reskin of the Jazz Kitchen is probably to establish an identity that will NOT be associated with Universal’s Mardi Gras celebration. Looking forward to watching the next podcast FRESH BAKED
FreshBacked, David,Ronn. The new "Encanto" attraction is an updated version of "Gadget's Coaster." DisneyLand Paris produces 2min. video's on cast member job's. I.E. Gardeners, Loco engineer fireing up a loco first thing in the morning. Cleaning the Carrousel. The oversea's parks are setting the pace right now. Paris's night time "Drone" show is just so good. The refurbished New York Hotel to Captain Marvel has won a European Hotel award. Cheers, Chris Perry.
I am so torn between having mid-century modern Tomorrowland and an absolute futuristic Tomorrowland (similar to Marvel's Xandar or Abram's Star Trek). I would give anything to be able to travel back to 1968 "New" Tomorrowland as I love that incredible motif. I grew up in SoCal surrounded by that style. However, I think we would all prefer a futuristic Tomorrowland we just don't trust today's Disney to do it right. From that lack of trust, we err on the safe side. The last time we trusted them we got french fry rocks and they broke the PeopleMover.
here's a topic for the podcast: magic bands coming to California. will they charge extra to use? other than needed for genie + when checking in for a ride, what other benefits will we get? will this be a big deal or non-event? Happy Mothers Day to Mrs. Fresh Baked! thanks for sharing the old dating videos.
Disneyland sounds: Peter Pan ride "come on everybody, here we go" while I'm waiting in line watching other people start the ride; Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse organ playing (I miss that); Casey Jr. engine wheezing "I think I can" going uphill; Jungle Cruise boat engine sound; the sound of popcorn popping at a cart.
Groups stopping in the middle of pathway. as their group spread across the path. then standing there as the flood of guests build. This sends me to Big Thunder to relax.
For the record . . . the picnic area next to the lockers and restrooms outside of the entrance to Disneyland has been a common place for people to picnic if not nowadays, at least back in the day. I had a few people tell me their families picnicked there every trip. Mind you, they used to put their food in the lockers, and then come midday would take it out of the lockers and eat it in the picnic area. With security baggage checks nowadays, I don't know how you would do that anymore, and buying stuff in the park and bringing it all the way out to the picnic area doesn't make sense, so do people still use that area anymore? But anyway, my point is, there may never have been a time people would picnic inside the park, but there was a time they would picnic just outside of the park.
With regards to the Pixar hotel I don’t think it’s going to be digital a lot of it will be themed with artwork and I think it’ll be easier for them to put up new sketches or add a new character the the mobile looking things in the lobby.
I am psyched about the re theme of Paradise Pier. As it stands, despite being the cheapest of the three resorts...still don't think it's worth my money.
I was a little bummed with the concept art of the Pixar hotel but I think they might be thinking ahead with Disneyland Forward and might change up the exterior down the road if they do expand the parks like shown in the concept.
We have picniced at Disneyland for affordability. There is more people that cannot afford but only to barely get in to Disneyland by the skin of their teeth in order to go at all in their lifetime. A lot of friends and family I know do it too. So there's definitely a need for a picnic space for people to not feel shame eating their food from home at the parks. We have gotten weird looks before and it would be nice to have a place where it felt more welcoming. When we can't afford much we bring food. If we are doing well financially we buy food and keep our eyes out for those who need a little magic and bless them with some food. One time a cast member gave us an extra chicken sandwich at Hungry Bear and we saw a family of 4 sharing 1 chicken sandwich. We could tell the dad seemed frustrated because he didn't realize how expensive it would be so we gave them the extra one. People coming from lower cost living states don't know and are price shocked more then us Californians and Arizonians are used too. Not everyone does their research before going either so it's nice to have options.
We’d like to offer to Ronnie, once again, to teach him how to turn on the background noise reduction on his iPhone, so that the leaf blowers, etc are no longer an issue. It’s a simple fix.
I'm going to pop in a comment as I hear something to comment on. We (Silicon Valley) got a mention yesterday that Disney is working on an E ticket ride for Avengers campus. To be opened within 2 years.
I predict (and I'm mostly accurate with my predictions), that Tomorrowland gets leveled completely within 2-5 years. No re-skin, no half ass adjustments. Completely re-done except for Space Mountain, everything else including the monorail station is re-done. Tomorrowlands redo will tie in with the DVC time share tower opening. Probably begin Tomorrowland right after the DVC tower opens. Also, right after or shortly after the new "Tomorrowland Movie" comes out.
I've been thinking along similar lines, trying to figure out how much of a shut down would be required for a new Tomorrowland. They closed all of ToonTown, but it's a small land in a dead end space, so it makes sense to close that whole land. Shutting down the entirety of Tomorrowland would be HUGE. Much more involved. There's so much overlap between the different attractions and features. Even if they kept something like Space Mountain, they'd have to close it while they worked on everything else. Maybe the Railroad could continue past a closed station. Maybe?
@@reginalayton3701 I'm sure they can work around the railroad with some temporary closures. If they do it the way I'd like to see it happen. From Tomorrowland to It's a Small World is one third of the real estate of DL. Close Tomorrowland completely, and develop the 3rd that is obviously missing, that's the only way to justify the ticket prices they will have to charge to pay for it and to then justify Disneyland Forward.
Hotels that are listening to every conversation that you’re having sounds great. Lol. Do you really want to stay there?? PS I love how you say you love All the changes but then it doesn’t sound like you do. Just saying lol enjoy love you both. I will agree that Disney has done too much video game digital style of things and it almost seems cheap.
If Disney wants to be in the generic retail/restaurant business, they should just buy Garden Walk and do it there. The Downtown Disney space should just be more park space.
My prediction Hollywood Backlot stays the same for a long time. Monsters Inc is now super popular, and Hollywood Lounge is one of the best selling bars on the property they just got rid of Captain Marvel's jet and any other remnants of The Avengers besides that besides that store in other sound stage
D23 news > top-of-the-list for California will the 'coaster' ride for Avengers Campus AND the Galactic Cruiser ---then updates for ToonTown/Pixar Hotel/DownTown Disney.... nothing will be said about the 'Backlot' or Tomorrowland.
Families who cannot afford to eat at Disneyland do picnic there. It is a great way for them to save a lot of money. Imagine the cost of 3 meals and snacks for a family of 5 people.
I think there will be a lot of people on tgat grass. Every person you see out there with their shoes off and toes in the air as your trying to eat will be on that grass.
Pet Peeves: stopping in middle of walkways, drunk people, people cursing or being loud in lines.. basically rude people. Best sounds… Main Street. Star tours host saying “buh bye” as you get off. Galaxy Edge ambient noise.
If E of Sandwich is temp and downtown is changing to 60's TL and they move the stage... What if downtown is like E of Sandwich and Down town is a temp of TL so Disney can closed Tomorrow Land rebuild it and re do just like Toon Town and.... "It's okay to have a 60-year-old IP in your park." THANK YOU David! And see, you might not even realize it, but you do get why it bothers you. Physical objects, real theming, represent a commitment to an idea. "We trust ourselves to execute this well enough that it will have staying power." An image on a screen is nothing. It screams "I am a placeholder, and so is everything that comes after me." It's blatantly mercenary in a way that's truly off-putting.
There will never be any Marvel in the backlot. After Congress trust busts Disney all the way to Timbuktu and breaks them up, Marvel will be taken away from them and that will mean the end of all Marvel attractions in the Disney parks unless Disney is willing to foot the bill for billions in royalties. Nobody will miss Marvel being owned by Disney.

My favorite sound is the howling of the Matterhorn, the screams and the bonus of the crows in the evening. I can sit there and listen all day.
I knew David's #1 on the top 5 as soon as the topic was announced. That's my favorite sound, too, and I could hear it in my head as soon as the question was asked.
The sounds at Disneyland are the best thing for me. I’m getting emotional right now thinking of the different sounds that just make my heart sing🧡

David, I totally thought your favorite sound would be the music as you’re walking down Main Street USA.

Dave, My five are:
1. Ticking clock at small world

Pink and orange like red and orange induce quick movement. This is why you see this color pattern at fast food restaurants. That's all psychological.
