Parkinson plays an extract from Question Time on which both Hislop and Mary Archer appeared.
Nigel Havers gives Private Eye a bit of a plug.
The Peter Cook story just confirms what has been said many times. That man was the funniest human being to ever draw breath. God rest his soul (though Peter would have hated anyone to say that!)
The question time part was awesome so was the story about Peter Cook at the mirror offices brilliant stuff!
National treasure is bandied about too frivolously but Ian is the archetype stand-up British chap.

I have always found Ian Hislop intellectually stimulating.
I think Lady Archer was under the impression that if she glared at Ian that he would stop the attack. Of course, forgetting that this was Ian Hislop. She is an idiot for agreeing to appear on a show with him, she had to have expected some attacks.

Lady Archer is part of the establishment who believes she is above the law and above criticism. How wrong could she be with Ian on the panel? Good for him!
She is married to a vile, lying, conniving little shit bag who, for some unknown reason, (he probably has some secrets to hold over important figures or some such), still has a title. That should have been stripped from him along with his civilian clothes the minute he stepped into prison. She must be similarly narcissistic and vile to stay with such a turd.

I have to say the self entitlement of these people is fuelled by the unfortunate persistence of the class system in this country - its a dame so tug your forelocks
Mary Archer couldn't really complain because she agreed to appear on the Question Time panel on the same show as Ian Hislop, she should have known that Private Eye had been slagging and riduculing her husband for decades, and the fact that Lord Archer was in jail at the time, she should have gone in expecting to have her husband's name mentioned at some point in a cold but fair way.
Indeed. Perhaps she thought Ian wouldn't say it to her face. How amusing.

Ter be fair now, if he's anything like me, I get uncomfortable looking in anyone's eyes for too long.
Look between their eyes and that drives them mad ! A society palmist and numerologist Louis Hammon (I think his name was), stage name Chi Ro, met Rasputin and realised that the Russian was trying to hypnotise his so he did just that, stare between his eyes !
