The work Jake has done with John Beck this summer shows in the practice and scrimmage sessions we’ve seen to date in Spring and the Fall camps. He has cut down on mistakes and in fact did not throw one interception during Spring camp. Gerry B has pushed Jake to the next level, but for the future of the BYU football team, they need to hand the starting job to Jake and see if this translates to winning on game day. Otherwise, Gerry will get his chance to show he is 100% healthy and can perform like he did 3 years ago at Baylor.
I appreciate Beck... he's not just handing the Starting QB job to Retzlaff like all the Blue Goggle talkers. Bohanon's a B12 Champion, he beat Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl AND Bohanon played in Grimes system. He's not as behind as all these people say he is...
It took Utah 5 seasons in the Pac-12 before they could consistently compete. In Utah's 3rd season they went something like 2-7 in conference. It's going to take a few years before BYU can consistently compete in the Big12.
Who cares about Utah. This is a loser mentality if you ask me. It took BYU decades waiting in the wings fir the BIG 12 opportunity. BYU needs to sieze the opportunity and prove it belongs. No more excuses!!
He and Roderick should be on the offseason but they’re not. Roderick is more culpable but Tom Holmoe has too much love for Kalani and Roderick to let either of them go
Kalani should be on the hot seat. The great recruiter has not produced. The great defensive guy, hasn't produced. He has whimped and blamed other coaches and not produced. I don't expect BYU to win 10-11 games a year. But I also expect BYU to not be nearly last in offense and running game and passing game in the NCAA P5. I'd rather BYU be 3-7 and the top passing team in the country. So where are the QBs to come in and lead BYU? Heaps, McMahan, Detmer, and others, so who are in the stable? No one recruited by any other P4 team. That doesn't speak well of Kalani Sitake to not be able to attract a QB talent.
Did you just name Heaps in the same sentence as Jim McMahan and Ty Detmer....I would argue that Heaps shouldn't be in that sentence, Sarkisian maybe. Heaps did ok as a freshmen against subpar competition but he crashed and burned, Word has it that Heaps wadded up his scholarship and threw it at Tom Holmoe, fortunately it sailed 10 feet over his head. Kalani made some bad choices with Funk and Tuiaki, that being said if Kalani is let go who do you turn to? Lance Anderson, Andy Reid isn't coming to Provo.
@@justinkiggins3106agreed a lot with what you said. If Kalani is let go then make Coach Hill the head coach. Also Roderick can’t be the OC if we want the offense to compete and win at a higher level
@@outsideropinion6561 I mean we’re comparing apples and oranges here so to speak but I’m not going to knock you because I get your point about the team’s success in 2006
Jake Retzlaff was very poor against SMU. He singlehandedly kept SMU in the game despite BYU defense playing lights out. Jake needs to be benched to keep him grounded.
And unfortunately some of the guys he’s hired in his coaching career: Tuiaki and Roderick, not great coordinators nor play callers and he’s taken way too long to hold people accountable. He needs to be a team man not just a family man
I am going to say that being #13 means we don’t have any thing to lose 🎉🎉🎉

This is the best commentary regarding football yet. This guy knows what the hell he’s talking about! Let’s get it done on the FIELD!

Agreed. If it were up to me I’d put Bohanon at starter starting week 1
Kalani is definitely on the hot seat^^

Anyone remember what we were picked in 2006? Seemed like we had a lot to prove that year too
True but we were in the Mountain West at the time, not the Big-12
@@Gandalf_lion true, but I would be higher on that team competing in the big 12 than the team that took the field last year.
