    Fun fact. Zonda is when very cold air slides from mountains into valleys below and heats up and expands. In German it is called foen - a word they later used to name a hair drying device,

      That's cool. Didn't know that about the hair dryer. Interesting. Whatever it is, and whatever causes it, Zonda is no joke! ~ Eric

    So good to hear you had great success esp. Caspian being all good with going out of his comfort zone. This kiddo (young person) is GOING to the GREATEST of PLACES (literally and figuratively of course) his *truest of true REAL LIFE* experiences & world travel to experience all so many cultures and such is out of this world. I wonder what he will grow up to *do* We ALL imagine great things for him and just am hopeful always that you all remain critically safe and sound be it abroad or in homeland. I think you all would do so well in CA if you ever had to go somewhere safer, but close to below the border to see family...should things go further amuck in US. I support your decision being so far away and bringing Caspian up as you are.
    Education system in N.America, even private schools (elementary level at least) is just so all affected and needs a whole redo. Cdn kids are just being put through to next grade -- many not completing the final year 11 and 12 exams to graduate. Continued best to you all. So glad again you healed well and so stuck up for selves re it being your responsibility for removal-assessment of your own parts. I did not hear you say as to why that was required -- I only thought it may be due to being a steeped in Catholicism (but under 19% of people that identify as such in Arg. even practice). Anyhow that was cra-cra y'all.

      We too are so excited to see what Caspian will decide to do. He just seems like he could do anything he sets his mind to. We're really blessed. As far as why it was required, I don't know. It may have had something to do with the fact that we paid in cash for the surgery and that the part of the hospital that would normally analyze the organ was not part of the transaction. I have no idea, but needless to say we weren't carting my wife's uterus around town. That was a hard no. ~ Eric

    As usual, your journey's films are always great. I could almost taste those delicious looking BBQ's meats that Richie was grilling. I could see how it was hard to leave those great meals. Seems you always find good culinary experiences wherever you travel. Yum!!! It's wonderful that you had so many areas to explore with Caspian while Brittany was healing. The film museum and that large park looked fantastic. I look forward to the next film about Buenos Aires. Question - what kind of video equipment do you use? As always, safe travels.

      Hi Haila! Yes, our foodie experiences have been interesting to say the least.. some amazing... some not so much. But we're always willing to try something new and different or we wouldn't be doing what we do. As far as film equipment, we keep it simple. iphones, a DJI osmo pocket, and our DJI Mavic Air2s drone. That's it. ~ Eric

    p.s. addtl note ... Have you ever thought of getting Caspian into photography I wonder or does he have an interest. Shreyovi Mehta is 10 but oh my gosh what an eye and also has the fab parent situation like Cas has. I imagine he has A LOT locked into his brain and heart, but was thinking today of how he could be capturing photos then videos etc and helping you two at some point. Just a thought for yaz. Also he would be amazing at translating his views and experiences into children's books -- different cultures+++ with photos or photos that are then made into artwork format like paintings or cartoon format for books. I always think of how we see him looking out the left side of the truck ... what he must capture in his young mind and no doubt sees in a more innocent way...also being lower to ground looking up or just height of things he would capture would surely be unique. This young lady has IG etc and does videos I saw...maybe he already knows about her. Anyhoo ... off I go haha.

    Why wouldn't you just come back to the states to have the procedure?

    • @HourlessLife
      @HourlessLife  2 місяці тому +6

      The biggest reason is financial. Our insurance (which we get through Eric's military retirement) requires us to pay for medical care out of pocket, then submit for reimbursement. This is fine if the surgery costs, say, less than $5,000. But what costs $5,000 in Latin America costs $50,000 in the United States. We can't pay $50,000 out of pocket! (There are workarounds to this, but they aren't worth the paperwork hassle.)
      The second reason is timing. You wouldn't believe how accessible medical care is in Latin America (for those who can afford it). In our experience, you can get an appointment or test the same day or within a couple of days. You can schedule a surgery two or three weeks out. Can you imagine doing that in the states? Considering our trips to the states are brief and already full of other commitments, it isn't practical to have major surgery during a visit back. ~ Brittany

      Because medical care here in the states is VERY expensive 😢

      @@HourlessLife I know of friends who have done just as you have, getting surgery, dental, or other medical procedures outside of the US (Mexico and Thailand) because of the outrageous costs. I'm grateful that you are sharing your South American experiences.
