Got a shock from them while dismantling a camera numerous times, but never bothered to investigate how they work. Thanks for filling a gap in my knowledge. You really go the PCB making process now very well dialed in! Awesome!
Thanks for including the mistakes, Chris. It's helpful to understand what can go wrong if you have too small a creepage or clearance distance between tracks! Plus, we've all been there ... so frustrating. It's remarkable that you had the wherewithal to keep filming and to do all the work to edit when I would have taken a hammer to the first board and started over. ;)
I see you managed to resist connecting Mr Joules in circuit. Interesting little project, I've not done anything with xenon tubes, that trigger voltage warning stick put me off.
In the circuit, does the actual flash bulb have any affect on the flash or is it basically a neutral component of the circuit? I have one where I suspect the bulb is faulty as I cannot seem to find any component fault on the board... I just am curious if the bulb itself has any affect in the circuit operation? Is this a crazy questions? What will a bad bulb do to the circuit I suppose is my question?.. (shorted in thebulb, or open in the bulb, etc..)
This type of lamp cannot be shorted. They also have a finite amount of flashes, so will fail eventually. The circuit will work fine without the lamp, but may get damaged if lamp gets shorted. Often what fails is the conductive strip on the lamp if it's the conductive paint type (the HV trigger) - easily repaired by putting 3-4 spaced out wraps of thin copper wire around the lamp.
@@randomtronic hey.. nice to see your video. Can u help me making pcb for xenon flash tube? Pl reply me on wechat or whatsapp or mail. aquaeng(AT)yahoo.com I am from india.
I like the way you show learning from your failures. In fact, showing various pitfalls is the most educative part of this video. Bravo!
+medvídek Krupička Sharing mistakes is also funnny sometimes, especially if you predict something is going to go wrong while watching :) Thank you!

LANE Boys RC Thanks!

+Jason Olshefsky thanks! Well, i did feel like doing exactly that a couple of times lol!
Where can I find the schematic from the HV diagram ? I can't see it very well from the video , did you upload the picture somewhere M

Very good
you share the schematic and pcb
So *that's* why I keep getting those annoying catalogs. How did they know we're making our own PCB's? LOL
Super explained, thanks! Where are U from?

any chance that we can see - > how to wind the transformer ?
and make a one from scratch using new parts ?
+Saliya Ruchiranga interesting idea for video. I will see if i can find suitable and easily obtainable parts.
thank you.

Nice video, thanks!

Hi, can I ask for a clearer schematic drawing?
