Quick tip - check the battle conditions in the start menu during every fight for the main story mode. If it has a secondary objective, fulfilling it will usually let you play out an alternate path that diverts from the canon storyline. Choosing to go it alone against Radditz leads to one of those alternate story moments, for instance
