The British Bulldogs are my favorite Tag Team of all-time. They were a hybrid team of (Power) Davey Boy & (Speed) Dynamite Kid. If it weren't for his drug problems, Davey should've been WWF Champion.
According to Georgia, she said it was meant to be a 2 hour episode as they had recorded lots more footage and a lot was cut. Shes hoping that WWE will release that version or allow them to upload it to the British Bulldog YT channel
Yeah they hardly showed Davey's sister from England at all in the documentary, they've stopped making DVD specials but it'd be good if they could collate this into something on the Network
I'd been quite happy watching Big Daddy and Giany Haystacks bumping bellies on world of sport, but then ITV would cut to WWF footage toward the end of its run, and The British Bulldogs looked like they came from the future. It was a real trip seeing English people doing well in the USA. British wrestling did not last long on TV after that, and as much as it was superficial in certain respects, the Americans added so many little touches which created a superior form of entertainment. I do remember that even before American wrestling was televised that British wrestling felt like entertainment from a bygone age, and arguably should have modernised itself well before the tsunami that was WWF Swept everything aside. I always say that wrestling in that period took inspiration from fighting games you were beginning to see, the likes of Streetfighter 2, characters with a distinct persona and special moves, and as a 10 year old those things converged in a memorable manner. 'He's fallen flat on his fookin arse' RIP British Bulldog
The funniest thing about that time was a lot of people in the UK not even realising that those mass monsters 'The British Bulldogs' were the same 'Dynamite Kid' that had been the skinny little lad that had tagged with Big Daddy years earlier and had ridden Tally Ho Kaye around the ring like a show pony in 'comedy spots' and that 'Davey Boy Smith' was the same skinny 'Young David' that had been tagging with 'Strongman' Allan Dennison! Despite their names it was only the third or fourth appearance that most people caught on who they 'really' were!
@SteveChiverton Their transformation was wild, at first I thought it was Americans playing the part of Brits based on how tanned and athletic they looked 😂 'You can't get a tan like that in England, lad' Looking back, there was some foresight shown by WWF in seeing action movie stars like Arnie and Stallone and modifying wrestling to reflect that, obviously without hindsight that many lads pushed it too far when it was a bit of a wild west in getting juiced and whatnot.

I've thought about why the Hart's accent is so hard to place. I'm far from Canadian so bear with me. The bulldog and Micheal bisping the UFC fighter sound very similar when they both speak. Probably because they're both from the greater Manchester area but had been in the states for a while so they kind of picked up the American twang to their voice a little as well lool but this was a really good short documentary but sad as well and it was a shame Davey boy passed away so young.

Anyway.
I could openly weep if I think too long about the British Bulldogs/Midnight Express feud that could have been had the cards been dealt differently.
I don't know if it's still on UA-cam. But there's is a video of the British Bulldogs vs The Rock-N-Roll Express. It was good to watch.
Im English Loved Bulldog but i was a Bret Mark.
When they come back to stampede crowd was a bit better they showed up walking thru the waiting crowd LATE 1,800 seater auditorium 450 attendees
*BRET, I'M FOOKED*
I wish they told that story on the biography
The bulldog and Micheal bisping the UFC fighter sound very similar when they both speak. Probably because they're both from the greater Manchester area but had been in the states for a while so they kind of picked up the American twang to their voice a little as well lool but this was a really good short documentary but sad as well and it was a shame Davey boy passed away so young.
The Mountie always gets his man! 👊
Davey & Dynamite had some brutal chain & dog collar matches against each other when they went back to wrasslin in Canada...
I remember Davey Boy Smith Vs Shawn Michaels on SNME for the IC title, another good match.
The flag I I;the back ground is not englands flag it’s the united kingdoms flag scotlands englands wales flag minus the red dragon. Shame it would look cool
Excellent video
Bulldog did wrestle a few shows for ECW in early 93 before going to WCW
This felt like a dark side episode
Can't remember if it was Hart or Davey, but, one of em broke the other ones nose in a house show match right before the Wembley Summerslam match to get em ready to go into the Wembley match.. 🤔
DAVEY💥 BOY💥 SMITH💥💥 CHINLOCK!!💥💥💥💥
Wow, the Hart family was so numerous, they even got their own accent! 🤣
davey was born and is buried up the road from where I live. proper northen English accent. none of this posh shite like people think we speak 😂
In Golborne?
@Millwall77 yes he's in St Catherine, all saints cemetery
Jim, you managed Davey in late 95 til late 96, my brother in Christ.
Davey, Owen, and Yokozuna.... RIP to all of them
Can't wait to hear what he thinks of the next episode. The Roman Reigns one.
Davey kept telling everyone that he had an infection or something in his spinal column, but, nobody listened until it was too late as he'd become addicted to painkillers for it after the trap door incident. He really did have a slow killing infection in his spine that wouldn't heal... 🤔
Surprised Jim glossed over his great matches in 1993 with William Regal in WCW.
The footage of Davey vs Mongo,I said the same thing! That botch was totally on Mongo as he literally didnt go up for the slam,David had to do it on his own . Wrestling without the cooperation just looks brutal 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
One of the few wrestlers that Vince pushed even though he wasn't to tallest
He had the best suplex execution
I loved the 94-96 Camp Cornette era.
We’ve been watching it back. Slammy Award-Winner Owen Hart was superb!!
@yelb9135 "Daveys got two belts but, I've got two Slammys!"
I miss Owen and Bulldog
Vader, Owen, Davey & Jim..... That's a sick crew..... Shame it landed in a downturn era.
The way Diana STILL tries to get a payday from dbs after what she put in her book [ under the mat ] about him is sickening. If what she said was true, why would she want anything more to do with him or his legacy. There's pdf copies around - read even just the 1st paragraph and will see what I mean.
What about when Davy came back to the WWF in the attitude era after his second run in WCW?
I met Diana a few times in the 90’s….holy moly she was gorgeous.
The biography didn't cover his return to the WWF in 1999?
I thought it did
It did briefly . The whole documentary felt rushed
Davey had the best headlock in the business.
Still remember his last run on WWE. You could tell he just wasn't into it anymore.
What’s the origin of “I wasn’t even there?” They must say it once an episode.
Only wrestler who could look like a million bucks wrestling in a pair of jeans 😂
You can't put into words what Bulldog was to me as a kid. I don't think Vince knew what he had with Davey ❤
He'd just gotten out of the hospital. Bret was sent to get the belts
I wasnt even there !
The trap door. Lmao.
All this talk about the Bulldogs, Midnight and Rock n Roll but Jim knows the Melky brothers are the greatest of all time baby!!!!!!😅
No, Davey wasn't told that he wasn't going to lose the European Title. Shawn did not stiff him. It was awful that he made to the match for his sister, but Vince should have made sure that Davey knew he wasn't going to lose. I saw that match. It's what started the fans throwing stuff into the ring. I was at a house show in a front row seat, and we had stuff hit us that bounced off the ring!
Uh...they changed plans at the last minute because Shawn threw a fit. Bulldog was supposed to go over, which was the point of the whole thing.
I watched this, great documentary.
