Yeah, forget the stupid remake. This movie didn't need to be remade, no matter what the damn, braindead critics said. I mean their rating for Song of the South is an outrage, proving they have no inner child.
You are absolutely speaking the truth i couldn't agree with you more. They certainly didn't have the technology we have today were many of Hollywood would have never been able to pull off Raw talent.
The actors who played the Gogan's "men folk" were great in this movie. Aside from the musical harmony, they all had a lot of talent for physical comedy and character acting.
"Gonna paw 'em, claw 'em, saw 'em in half. When he cries out for mercy, we'll just laugh. Beat 'em, heat 'em, eat 'em for dessert..." This movie's so violent! Not to mention the fact that there's the song where Dr. Terminus sings about slicing and dicing Elliot into pieces and serving his organs with a ribbon and a string. Funny I never realized this when I was a kid. (Especially the eat 'em for dessert part... messed up!)
One of the many reasons I love this movie is how jaunty and jolly the songs are, even the ones about enslaving, murdering, and possibly cannibalizing a small child. :)

Unfortunately Disney is full blown revamping their original animated/live action films. Minus the Jungle Book which was close and far more terrifying. It makes me REALLY sad that it's so modern and not a musical. Why is the kid living in a forest like Tarzan?? XD
