Ok I watched this while I was cooking and was zooming in several times to see some of the details on the interior of your suit...SO GOOD! It looks so professional. And I love the diagonal plaid! This makes me want to re-attempt a reversible swim lining, the finish on yours is so clean!
Happy Birthday, welcome to the 55 club! I loved this video so much that even though I recently vowed never to attempt swimwear again I'm now seriously giving it (yet another) go 😂
Haha! Thank you so much, Alex. I just could no longer stand going into poorly-lit dressing rooms and putting on ill-fitting swimsuits in colours that didn’t suit me, so it was worth the fitting effort. One thing that has saved me is water-soluble thread in the bobbin when making a muslin…no unpicking and I can usually save most if not all of the fabric to have another go or use it for a different suit style.
That's exactly why I finally started making my own. On top of the terrible lighting in dressing rooms, I just couldn't find ones that fit the way I wanted or that were in fabrics and colours I liked. It's worth making your own! And thank you for watching!
Belated birthday wishes. You look fabulous! I loved being “double nickels”. Your pop looked great in the shirt you made him, too. I bet it’s one of his favorites to wear. Loved the attention to detail you provided us and tips for making such great swimsuits. That one piece with the banded legs is just gorgeous. BTW, your viewers always love seeing “sweaty hot and tired” woman-she’s so relatable 😊.
Haha! Thank you so much. I'm ok with the sweaty, hot, and tired...it's when it leads me to giving the wrong instructions that makes me go "no, no, no...time for a re-do!". 😉
Alex Judge sent me and I have subscribed 😃 I really enjoyed your video although I have never attempted swimwear myself. I look forward to watching your previous videos.🌹
Welcome, Eileen! Thank you so much -- very appreciated! Alex is so inspiring...she's one of the people who make me think, "Hey -- maybe I can start a channel in my 50s too!" ☺
Hi Paula Jean! Your problem solving skills are excellent and incredibly inspirational. I've been fearful about making undies, but many of your tips in this video made me realize that with a little imagination, there is a workaround for just about any problem that may arise. Making my own bra cups never would have occurred to me; may I ask where you purchased the foam? You look lovely in both swimsuits. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great video!
Hello Sky! I don’t know why my reply wouldn’t post, but thank you for your kind words and I hope you give underwear / swimwear sewing a go! It’s very satisfying and takes so little fabric, so even if it takes a couple muslins to get it right, once you find your right fit, you never have to worry about your fave style being discontinued!

You’re gonna make me blush! ☺️Thanks, Casey! I’m really loving both suits, but I’m super proud of the plaid one.

55 never looked so good, Paula Jean! Thanks for another great video.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. ☺️
another good video. I haven't been able to find any new swimwear that I liked for 2 years. Perhaps I should consider making my own

Congratulations 🎉It's a lot of work and the results are worth it.
Thank you, Catherine! I couldn't agree more! ☺️
Great video! Love all your bathing suit and undies! ❤
Thanks, Helen! They're fun to sew -- especially when they turn out alright! 😉
