  • This video is about the photoelectric effect, in quantum physics, a level physics.
Here we talk about the Threshold frequency and the experimental setup, with the mercury lamp emitting ultraviolet light onto a zinc plate mounted on a gold leaf electroscope.
The effect is explained using the energy well. The metals have conduction electrons that are emitted.
We talk also about the work function, greek letter phi.
The kinetic energies of the emitted electrons are also explained.
Equations relating the work function, kinetic energy, and the energy of the photons are explored.
This video is suitable for the A Level Physics syllabus, but is also suitable for JEE Physics, IB Physics or other physics examinations of similar level.
    Thank you for watching.
