Wow #15 was a breath of fresh air after seeing rider after rider beat their horses with their whips. #15 encouraged her horse with light taps on the rump and positive words. THAT'S a real horsewoman ladies and gentlemen! Obviously quite a few of you could learn from that.
Yeah her pats and kind words were very nice. At the start when she whipped her horse twice I was like “Ok she’s nice but those whips were a little too hard though...” but after I was like “Ok she was fine”
i am loving 3:45 rider... even when horse refuses its a pat not a sit there and smack your horse yet gives a few taps to say get moving .... i love how she takes him through the water then tries again followed by lots of pats.....
i literally want to smack some of these riders. they are whipping there horses and treating there horses. number 5 has severe anger issues. this guy is a grown man and is acting like a 7 year old whipping his horse. these are animals that have feelings. i would never and will never whip my horse like that. i give my horse slight tiny tap just to keep her going and to remind her that i am still up there. my horse is very big and she is very strong. i am only 5’4 and i weigh 100 pounds. these are grow adults and i am 16 years old. they are hurting these animals and some of them are whipping them for no reason. this is exactly why i ride saddleseat. plus some of these people are not being smart. i constantly have to ride smart since for one i ride two 3 year old horses and i don’t ride with a helmet. these people throwing there arms around and legs. this is ridiculous
04 is my favorite, she's a litlle off balance but she doesn't use the whip more than she has to and keeps away from janking here horse's mouth, "that's my man!" was really adorable too
They aren’t being harsh. At higher levels, the rider needs to gallop fences and they offer some resistance on the bit and put their leg on so the horse powers up over the fence and doesn’t fall.
For those that think whipping horses as discipline doesn't hurt, please type in your search bar "do horses have thinner skin than humans" and miraculously enough you will get an answer to this question. Horses are way more sensitive to pain from whipping than humans, and there are side by side photos of their skin levels that show they really do have thinner skin. There is a huge difference between correcting and whipping a horse. I have seen people whip their horse after a refusal, and guess what? The horse refuses again! Obviously all horse are different, but whipping your horse is not going to "show them who's boss." Yikes.
Velma Ricketts It is permitted, unfortunately. There are no rules against disciplining your horse for refusals, which really just gives people an excuse to work less.
Many people do not believe in disciplining a horse. They believe that anytime you use force to get a horse’s attention, you are being abusive. Unfortunately these same people will allow their horses to push them around, and misbehave while riding. Instead of using appropriate actions to discipline them, they allow their horses to be the boss. What they do not understand is when they allow their horses to dictate what they want to do; this is setting them up for a potential injury. Once horses work out they can push you around they will lose all respect for you. When your horse won’t stand still when you are getting on - is it because he is longing to get out for a hack, or is he actually sussing out who is boss? In the herd the one who can move the other horses away is the boss. What message are you giving him if you move away if he puts his ears back?
+sarah berry I understand disciplinary actions on your horse, as I use them myself. I use Spurs and whips if need be, but they do hurt the horse. It's facts.
00:54 disgusted me! Imagine if u were that horse! I don’t might light taps on the shoulder or rump but smacking it multiple times is not acceptable! The worst I would do is a small smack ONCE on the rump but only if I’m on big stubborn horses with really thick skin or a lot of fat! 😤
Number 5 feels the need to whip the horse 4 times before first jump, 1 before second, another 1 before 3rd and 2 more times after finishing those jumps. That's a total of 8 times. That's one stupid rider
quelle honte le cavalier 005 qui cravache violemment son cheval parce qu'il a refusé et qui ensuite ke cravache avant chaque obstacle et encore plusieurs fois après !!!!! il devrait être sanctionné au minimum, voire interdit de concours
Guy at 0:53 is horrible! A riding crop is meant to urge the horse to jump not to punish it. It will confuse the horse if anything. That poor horse dislikes it. Bad rider.
It’s only okay to use a whip when the horse is being extremely rude, refusing to move or being very naughty. It still isn’t the best but it shows them who’s boss. But a jump refusal, they refuse if they aren’t focused enough or have the wrong footing. I’d like to see the riders get the f and jump the course 😅😅😅
to all the people saying this to bad for number 5 to use a whip, just think.. why do whips exist, oh because it’s to tell the horse off maybe just think why they whip and why whips exist!
no whips are for encouragement if a horse is starting to become lazy, you are using it incorrectly if you think it is necessary to beat a horse with a blunt object, it will just make your horse scared of you and hate you
@Michael Burkinshaw maybe you approached the jump at a wrong angle, or maybe something spooked him at the side of the jump, please dont beat your horse with a whip i know its for discipline and bla bla bla but would you like it if someone beaten you with a blunt object? horses are living, breathing beings not robots
using them as a "signal" to maintain the rhythm, ok -- I can see that -- but really ... multiple times for the SAME thing, and so hard you can hear it on the video ? really ??
Here are the timestamps for all the nice riders for those who don't want their day ruined: 04 at 0:31 06 at 1:26 09 at 1:40 Whatever the heck their helmet is looks really cool 10 at 1:55 11 at 2:11 17 at 2:26 12 at 2:36 15 at 3:06 Although they did whip the horse, they retired after it got over that jump instead of forcing it to finish the course. They are a little rough with the spurs though. 16 at 4:12 They also whipped their horse but it wasn't excessive and they acknowledged that their horse didn't want to do the jump/wasn't ready and retired. 18 at 4:42 19 at 4:56 23 at 6:27 27 at 7:17 29 at 7:32
some people really succeed their horse so hard that I kewoon stop watching !! And some people beat their horses when they stopped for the jump !! It is necessary to save your horse so hard? The andtwoord is NO !! This is pure horse abuse !! Those people have their horse and educate themselves before they do this !! Only the horses are sure they can go dirrect all the rest of the jump is not !!! And you can see clearly that horses and people are not educated enough for such a high.
That Appaloosa was absolutely stunning 😍😍

Lindsay Grove Ikr, I loved her!
Yeah her pats and kind words were very nice. At the start when she whipped her horse twice I was like “Ok she’s nice but those whips were a little too hard though...” but after I was like “Ok she was fine”

Number 5: Makes it over last jump. Oh sure, instead of praising my horse, I'll just give him 2 more slaps!
What an utter a******. Best way to make that horse sour.
That lady was terrible. She doesn’t deserve that wonderful horse! That poor horse put up with it! If that was me she’d be in the lake
My thoughts exactly, should have been disqualified imo
I know:( That wasn’t kind.Agh:’(

they shouldn't whip the horse for a refusal like 005
i literally want to smack some of these riders. they are whipping there horses and treating there horses. number 5 has severe anger issues. this guy is a grown man and is acting like a 7 year old whipping his horse. these are animals that have feelings. i would never and will never whip my horse like that. i give my horse slight tiny tap just to keep her going and to remind her that i am still up there. my horse is very big and she is very strong. i am only 5’4 and i weigh 100 pounds. these are grow adults and i am 16 years old. they are hurting these animals and some of them are whipping them for no reason. this is exactly why i ride saddleseat. plus some of these people are not being smart. i constantly have to ride smart since for one i ride two 3 year old horses and i don’t ride with a helmet. these people throwing there arms around and legs. this is ridiculous

Most of these riders are throwing their horses off balance because of how they're riding. So bouncy. Also why are so many so harsh on the bits?
They aren’t being harsh. At higher levels, the rider needs to gallop fences and they offer some resistance on the bit and put their leg on so the horse powers up over the fence and doesn’t fall.
So many of these riders don’t know how to freaking RELEASE!!!!! That’s why your horse jumps horribly.
018 did a great job letting go of her horses face over the jump. 025...... idk what to say. That horse is a SAINT. You can tell he’s in pain.
some of these riders clearly dont know how to use a whip
I like 15 she didn’t smack the horse she made y life❤
Omg number 15 is my fav
This was first time I saw someone saw horse what is behind jump, so profesional

1:12. er hat Angst zu springen, deswegen springt das Pferd nicht. Er ist komplett planlos, aber Hauptsache das Pferd bekommt paar Schläge...
They hit the horse, jump it, then hit it again? Some people are idiots.
number 5 -- I think the horse got the idea with the first smack -- didn't need to do it over and over
I do cross country, and unfortunately, some horses mine included do need more than one smack.
It is okay to smack them for refusals? That seems harsh. Looks like lack of training to me....
Velma Ricketts It is permitted, unfortunately. There are no rules against disciplining your horse for refusals, which really just gives people an excuse to work less.
+Velma Ricketts it does not hurt the horse
+sarah berry yes it does. A horses skin is a lot thinner than humans.

i realy like 3:07 she just pays him they got over the first jmo and was like i can’t push it

@Michael Burkinshaw there's no need to whip it 4 times or even whip it all, silly.
@Michael Burkinshaw okay you do you I guess
honestly giving your horse a wack for encouragement is fine but if you have to constantly do it for it to do anything maybe you shouldn't be eventing
022 was so off balance! that horse really saved her ass and then she beat him xc That's probably the reason he refused the second time
Number 5 feels the need to whip the horse 4 times before first jump, 1 before second, another 1 before 3rd and 2 more times after finishing those jumps. That's a total of 8 times. That's one stupid rider

so basically if your sitting a test they beat you to encourage you?makes no sense. riding crops are for people who cant use there legs as shown

@Michael Burkinshaw yes i do ride, as long as your not hitting your horse hard you can use the whip, just dont push the boundaries
@Michael Burkinshaw if my horse refuses i turn around and try again but just before the jump i give her a tap on the shoulder and she jumps it
using them as a "signal" to maintain the rhythm, ok -- I can see that -- but really ... multiple times for the SAME thing, and so hard you can hear it on the video ? really ??

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
05 Would have done much better if he focused on his balance instead of whipping and janking that horse
So many refusals
sadists~~~
Horse have very sensitive skin.
To be honest, horses shouldn't jump at all. They could break a leg and end their life because of a stupid competition.
Cutie Cake horses can jump, but not super super often and not over anything the aren’t capable of.
