Same here - I'm not even a huge Dnegs fan (due to politics, ya ya boo me), but when my missus and I ran into him at the WSOP 6 or 7 years ago before covid, while we were in Vegas for something else, my fiancé was SO excited to see him (fellow Canadian, even though Dnegs is American now, you know what I mean), she freaked. Daniel laughed and even waved us over and said hi. Pretty amazing considering how annoying that must be for him.

As a new poker fan it's taken some time to warm up to DNeg's personality. The loudest person in the room usually ends up attracting some bad behavior. DNegs usually gets a pass for being famous but this shows why the average person knows not to joke like that with everyone

I heartily thank you, Mr. N., for once and for all curing me of my determination to conquer no-limit HE. You've demonstrated to me that one has a better shot of getting to the summit of Mt. Everest alive and kicking. My biggest takeaways from playing the game so long were a) honing my aptitude for applying probability to practical decision making and b) steadfast fortitude in the face of one real-life "bad beat" after another.
With the exception of your big win this summer...you have run very cold. I can't believe how many flips you have lost. Feels like you flipped a quarter 20 times and came up tails on every one. But I do appreciate that you do these daily VLOGS. I always look forward to watching them.

Phil Laak! Funny dude. I once played in and won a $65 tourney at Mandalay Bay back around 2018-19 with Phil, Jennifer Tilly and Norm MacDonald all at my table. Hilarious they played in such a cheap tourney. Think they were in Sportsbook to collect from Sunday or Monday night football ticket. Someone in their party was celebrating a birthday and they said “I want to try poker” as they were walking past poker room. Norm was a riot for hours
It was once in lifetime experience. Phil was in armsling and I think face messed up a bit from skiiing or snowmobile incident. My phone battery was dead so I couldn’t get pictures. I do remember Jennifer giving Norm a hard time because his social media account had one post and like 3 followers as of that night. Folks at the table that had social media accounts and a working phone then added to Norm’s numbers.

I have mixed feelings on the waitress. On one hand, if you ever worked a service job, in particular a bar job or anything involving alcohol, people can be incredibly rude. If she was at the tail end of a 10-12 hour shift of taking sh*t from people, I can understand the frustration of someone saying "my name is over there on the wall". That being said, I'm not from the US so I don't know how tipping culture works, but you'd imagine you could bite your tongue, smile, laugh at their sillyness and grab that tip.

Learned a while ago for stuff like that...that that person is probably 1) baseline unhinged or 2) having a super bad day or 3) both...and I checked my ego by the door a long time ago. You did fine. Just defuse it with humor and keep on rolling.

I used to be annoyed by waitresses like that. At the pool hall I would always ask to switch to another section with different staff. Nobody would tip her heavily she's not having fun. Good luck to her in the service industry.

As a current bartender, I'll defend a waiter/waitress 99 out of 100 times, and that one had me stumped. I hope she just had a rough day, or that the last person (before you) was extremely rude, and she hadn't had time to get in the back room to vent. Its less about what you say in the service industry, and more about how you say it. If she said the same thing with a smile and a laugh, you would have laughed along with her. But she made it sound like you were the worst person on earth... and you weren't.
it's most likely closer to breakeven equity there's a psychological phenomenon where people are more likely to remember losses than wins. so when you breakeven you actually think you're losing, whereas you need to be winning by roughly a 2:1 ratio to think you're breakeven, and doing better than that to think you're winning. additionally when calculating equity you should include all the times you shove all in and get no callers, not just the all in and calls.
Losing after you get it in with the best hand is for sure frustrating. Now, you would like to think it evens out but it for sure felt like you were more than due to win some of these hands where you actually get it in good. Anyway, I'm no pro but having a chance to follow your WSOP every year makes it feel like I'm there, almost. I'm aiming to go in two years but until then I'm more than happy to have the chance to follow you. Again, thanks for the vlogs and thanks for being so transparent. The more important the spot (spots with bigger to massive equity) the worse you seem to run especially this last week (maybe all summer but I haven't been able to follow your vlogs closely until last week). What goes around comes so keep grinding and lets hope that the "accumulated" run-good comes in the most important of spots.

You copped a lot from the poker community (ie, not the morons who follow your vlog) for defending Stars when they increased their rake, claiming it was good for the game. But to actually watch you celebrate another losing series due to the fact that 165k loss bought you a bracelet (which you only won because of a one outer), really shows that you stand for your beliefs.
Poker isn't about winning money. It's about losing money in a way that convinces casual fans to watch your Vlogs so that you can persuade corporations - like GG Poker - to sponsor you, so that your advocacy helps them steal money through exorbitant rake.

I used to be annoyed by waitresses like that. At the pool hall I would always ask to switch to another section with different staff. Nobody would tip her heavily she's not having fun. Good luck to her in the service industry.

As a current bartender, I'll defend a waiter/waitress 99 out of 100 times, and that one had me stumped.
I hope she just had a rough day, or that the last person (before you) was extremely rude, and she hadn't had time to get in the back room to vent. Its less about what you say in the service industry, and more about how you say it. If she said the same thing with a smile and a laugh, you would have laughed along with her. But she made it sound like you were the worst person on earth... and you weren't.

it's most likely closer to breakeven equity there's a psychological phenomenon where people are more likely to remember losses than wins. so when you breakeven you actually think you're losing, whereas you need to be winning by roughly a 2:1 ratio to think you're breakeven, and doing better than that to think you're winning. additionally when calculating equity you should include all the times you shove all in and get no callers, not just the all in and calls.

Losing after you get it in with the best hand is for sure frustrating. Now, you would like to think it evens out but it for sure felt like you were more than due to win some of these hands where you actually get it in good. Anyway, I'm no pro but having a chance to follow your WSOP every year makes it feel like I'm there, almost. The more important the spot (spots with bigger to massive equity) the worse you seem to run especially this last week (maybe all summer but I haven't been able to follow your vlogs closely until last week). What goes around comes so keep grinding and lets hope that the "accumulated" run-good comes in the most important of spots.

it's because she heard you say she probably got me covered. referring to the hand and then started talking to her. so she thought you were expecting her to cover the cost of the beer.
Figuring the ICM value of all those all-ins would probably take weeks haha. Would have to figure out what chip average is, how many people are still in the tourney + what the payouts are.
