This was believed to be her last on-camera appearance before her death in September 2006 (guessing this was in early '06, since Brokeback Mountain came out in Dec '05 and she was diagnosed with cancer in March '06). RIP Ann.
Literally the last good governor we had. It's so bleak. I grew up at the Capitol when she was governor (my dad worked there) and she was the sweetest lady.
Half of it is still there. I call that monster hallway decor "the door to the past" (bc "hallway entryway" doesn't have the same ring to it). But I agree. I miss the way it was before it got condo-ed.
@UnReaL441 It is totally enjoyable, I make a point to go there every time I'm back in TX to visit my family. I especially enjoy how they theme their menu around recent movies they've played or will play.
@UnReaL441 those are the only reels they made themselves. They're a theater after all, not a production studio. Alamo Drafthouse is the shit, don't knock it till you've tried it. =)
man almost forgot about this gem lol! algorithms can be great sometimes. Ann definitely had a good sense of humor, I am old enough to remember having a Democrat governor, if you watch documentary film The Unforeseen you can learn how she ran with the largest environmentalist campaign Texas ever had seen and lost to George Bush Jr. and his Saudi Arabian oil money partners ahem* I mean officially the Texas Landowners Association (real estate owners/developers/oil money basically)
People that visit the Drafthouse go because they are sick of paying a lot of money to have people texting, talking, or babies crying during the movie. I no longer live near a drafthouse and people are worse than ever these days with theater etiquette, so I just don't go anymore. If you visit the Drafthouse, you like seeing these reminders because you know everyone in the audience are passionate about this policy...or the staff will take their ass out. I actually remember when this PSA aired in the Drafthouse and all of us cheered when we saw Ann Richards
From California: God rest Ann Richards. Class act all around.
I can not find enough Ann Richards on UA-cam.. this is cool. :)
She was a badass lady, that's for sure. And the last even remotely decent governor in Texas.

Ann Richards: American Badass.
100%
God bless Ann Richards. RIP.
I miss Ann Richards so bad. :-(
Why does this have 22 dislikes this is amazing
Because she was a liberal Dermocrat.
RIP Ann Richards, you were a classy lady.
I’m an unabashed Texas Democrat. This warms my heart.
Good luck down there, from a likeminded New Yorker.

Love her!
I miss that theatre.

Awesome! Good for you, Ann! Could you come to Montana and help us out?
These days, you'll need a grimoire and a necromancer.

How far Texas has fallen. We get to slap our foreheads as Rick Perry gaffes his way around the nation.
Oh if only we knew that Abbott and Cruz were coming
@@CynicalMartian Beto days are coming😁😁💙💙
@@mq827 it's hard to even hope for that change, but I'm gonna VOTE for it for sure
@AmbientSoundz Oh ya that does sound cool! Is it a old time theater look? or is it more modern? I picture it being an old restored movie theater.

Lars dressed up as a swami was so great and random - I miss that dude 20 years ago introducing Weird Wednesday!!!
thank you SO much for this comment; going to look him up now!!! i've been wondering for years who he is
OMG I've wanted a cinema program like Weird Wednesdays my whole life! Bring it back, Alamo!
@@suzbone BRING BACK THE "TIM LEAGUE" (and Terror Tuesdays, too)!
@@suzbone Man, Lars was so cool and smart, too! Never tried to be cool and never cared if anyone thought he was or not, but he was Cool As Fuck!

Remember the Tyrants at Alamo Drafthouse
20 people enjoy talking during movies.

@Meisgeniusidiot Momma always said, trolls is as trolls does.
I wouldn't pay him any mind.
@CocoSmiley123 GO OUTSIDE TO TEXT. If you're texting, you're not watching the movie...so you are already ripping yourself off. Duh.
can you laugh
Is all this theater promotes "Don't talk"? that's the theme of all their videos on here!
