I love John’s humility in this video!! He was just so surprised by the Holy Spirit and the WHAM! And the wonderful thing is he found out that it was the same way God showed up during many previous revivals. And that was in 1980! Please God, do it again :)

Thank you Lord that you are doing it again! Starting with the young people who are in such great need of the Lord, who loves them so much. It does not appear that Pastor Mumford ever received the baptism of the Holy Spirit himself, according to Acts 2. Often people who have not experienced it tried to quantify it using intellectual or psychological terms. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He can't be quantified. In John 3 Jesus said, you hear the wind but you don't know where comes from or where goes. So is everyone that is born of the Spirit. The Jewish people in Jerusalem said of the apostles, "these men are drunk". It was not simply because they were speaking in other languages.or tongues. It was because of the Spirit of God moving upon them all. Jesus told them they would receive "power from on high" according to the "promise of my Father" in Joel 2. Peter said in his famous Acts 2 sermon, "this is for you and your children and for all those who are a far-off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call". That promise still stands today. Anyone who seeks the baptism in the Holy Spirit will receive from Father God in a like manner. The Father will not give you a stone for bread, or a scorpion for a fish but will truly give you the Holy Spirit when you ask Him. All believers in Christ receive the Holy Spirit at salvation but the infilling comes as it did in Acts chapter 2 upon all who ask. The purpose, besides glorifying God, is to receive power to become witnesses for the Lord Jesus Christ to the world, bringing in a great harvest of souls for His Kingdom and glory.🙌✝️🕊️

This man or preacher is just expounding with humble honesty on the Paraclete in May and was introducung a young evangelist in lonnie. This evangelist and teacher combined humor and seriousness to a new art form while inter- mixing Scripture and life experiences. This John Wimber who went to the afterlife loved God in Jesus with all of heart, mind and soul and loved his neighbor as himself. What a life...

I was blessed to be part of the Vineyard in the 90's, happy when they parted with Toronto, later grieved that they did, later again part of movements that came directly from the anointing of this one and blessed again. I began attending the Vineyard in 1983 and was there in 1994 when we were hit by the Toronto Blessing in our church. Such a powerful move of God. But it still amazes me how many believers were angry that this was happening. Many were offended and left the church and claimed it was the devil.
We need to be very careful of labeling something from the devil just because it offends us or isn't like what we expect a move of God would look like. Yes, we are to test the spirits. "By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God." (1 John 4:2) But we must also look at the fruit. People being healed and delivered in the Name of Jesus, drawing closer to God, becoming bold and sharing the Gospel. This is all good fruit.
And there is a new move of God starting to manifest in the US and elsewhere in the world. Believers have been crying out to the Lord and His Spirit is moving. I'm excited to see what God does next.

Yes, there was, as you can learn in a study of church history. The Great Awakening in the mid-1700s in the New England area of the US was the first big one on record, followed by the Second Great Awakening in the early 1800s that started in Kentucky and Tennessee and spread northward.
And then in 1904 in Wales, UK, there was huge move of God called the Great Welsh Revival followed by the early Pentecostal movement which started in 1906 in the L.A. area of California. And of course, what was known as The Toronto Blessing (in Canada) was the most recent movement that started in a Vineyard church in 1994 and thrived for almost ten years. I may have even missed one or two. But God has powerfully moved in this regard at many times throughout history, thankfully.

It's amazing to me how the body of Christ gives more credit to the spiritual manifestations of Satan and his demons, than the Holy Spirit. Anything Satan does or manifests is something that is a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. People are so apt to demonize everything. Look at the fruits, the work of the Holy Spirit. Some of you remind me of the Pharisees on the day of Pentecost.."they are drunk!"..But no!.. claims Peter..this is what the profit Joel spoke of. The body of Christ is so arrogantly devided and it sadens me. The Holy Spirit is not bound and limited to our own ideals, experiences, and perspectives! He's God! His ways are not our ways. We love to place Him in a box where we can control Him. Be careful what you claim to be demonic...Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.
    Matthew 12:25-33 ESV
bible.com/59/mat.12.25-33.ESV. Reminds me of how many will protest that speaking on tounges is demonic. Yet, anywhere it is found in Scripture, it is the Holy Spirit manifesting... But I has ceased some say. So again, Satan is quite capable now of manifesting and controlling the flesh.. but God has retired from the work? Come on now boys and girls.. this is where our minds get us when we follow man's doctrine and theology, rather than seeking God on our own accord. This is what transpires when we seek knowlege and try to understand through human reasoning, than learning from the Spirit.

      that was then.

+David II I ask this gently and sincerely: in your beliefs and walk with God, do you actually experience Him then? Like His tangible presence, His voice? Do you ever encounter God? Or is all just a head knowledge? I just am trying to comprehend a life walking with God, void of any type of manefesations of His Spirit. I mean this lovingly , and maybe I'm getting you wrong. But we obviously agree of the fact the Holy Spirit lives in us, and is our helper; but what I seem to take from those that appear to believe in cessation, is that they mentally know he's there, but experientially, He is unknown. And I'm sure the fruit of The Holy Spirit must still be there, and praise God..but I've always expeienced Him on such a deep intimate level, and it's always involved praying in tounges, words of knowledge, experiencing His tangible presence(in rare but much needed moments) I can't imagine abiding other wise. And this is coming from me, knowing nothing else. I was a 15 year old contemplating suicide when a Jesus came to me while laying in bed one night. I had prayed in my heart for Him to save me, that I did not want anything else but Him, and 3 things happened simultaneously: A faint light shone from my ceiling, I started speaking in an un-known tongue, and a peace I never could have imagined flooded my heart, pushing out all the pain and darkness. And that was just the begining! I don't agree with all people's doctrine ... some I'm sure need to take heed. But, I sure won't base my assumptions on a few verses that say some things are to stop, out of a host of others that support the same things...when the few verses are not even clear on when they should stop, and what is meant by perfect. I'm not hear to argue, and if you are set to beleive what you beleive, I accept that. Just as I can never see myself believing other wise, I will not try to prove anyone wrong. But I will say, the Western church is so devided, the enemy has us right where he wants us. We are so proud and set in our ways, bickering back and forth with one another, no wonder ppl don't want to come to know Christ. The world sees division in the Body more than the brothers and sisters that make it up, and we all should be ashamed!

Here's a mind blower: on March 27, 1836, at the eight-hour dedication service of the first Mormon 'temple' in Kirtland Ohio, a very similar occurrence is recorded by several in attendance. Sidney Rigdon, a former Campbellite preacher of some renown who converted to Mormonism and became a counselor to Joseph Smith, preached a two-hour sermon just before (according to Smith) "a noise was heard like the sound of a rushing mighty wind, which filled the Temple, and all the congregation simultaneously arose, being moved upon by an invisible power; many began to speak in tongues and prophesy; others saw glorious visions; and I beheld the Temple was filled with angels, which fact I declared to the congregation. The people of the neighborhood came running together (hearing an unusual sound within, and seeing a bright light like a pillar of fire resting upon the Temple), and were astonished at what was taking place."

By 1980, how many theology books had been written about the Holy Spirit? What percentage of seminary library books were about the Holy Spirit? The numbers are SUPER SUPER low. Why is that? What are some reasons that you might guess are the reasons why there was (and are) so few theology books about the Holy Spirit? Jesus made it very clear, when He spoke about the Holy Spirit, that the disciples were to wait for Him/(“It” some people say). He also said some other things that are relevant to us now, today, about the Spirit. What did Jesus say? Have you removed the Holy Spirit from the Trinity you follow in your practice of agreeing with your fellowship group? Is your effective Trinity the Father, Son and Holy Book? Am I demeaning the Bible? No. No way. Never. Never ever. But if you have removed the Holy Spirit from Jesus’s design for where He wanted the Holy Spirit to be in your life then, well, you are disobeying Jesus. If you are doing that then you are also missing out. Here’s another way to cut into the core of the issue: are you following a person or a set of standards/laws? Do you truly believe that Jesus only wanted the Holy Spirit around long enough to help a new law book to be written? I sincerely do not intend to demean your devotion, your sincerity, your desire to guard the faith. In love and care for you I am challenging you to stop seeking the approval of men and instead go back to the recorded words of Jesus and read what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit and then, more important than anything, DO what Jesus said. Yes, it’s scary because you are not then in control. I’m not saying let yourself be carried away and throw away scripture. No. It’s not an all this or all that thing. So if you reject me or my manner of speaking about this then ok but please read scripture and do what it says.

Folks, you can research Kundalini on UA-cam etc. These manifestations (when they're not explained from the very common mass hypnosis effects folks like Benny Hinn have mastered are spiritual...just not the one you were expecting) because you're seeking the signs/manifestations etc rather than the REAL Christ (not a wild version with an over-emphasis on "gifts")
How does this fondness for charismania remain to some degree (although thankfully not like the 90s) despite insurmountable evidence that most of these leaders are charlatans, grifters, heretics and even worse (gnostics engaged in mysticism and the occult) with bizarre beliefs not seen anywhere in the NT (but when certain gifts are discussed or seen in the NT, all the rules, purpose etc. of those gifts are thrown out the window today). This has been proven multiple times over if folks are humble enough to test the spirits.
Costi Hinn has done a good job exposing so much of what his uncle and his cronies did and continue to do (the 25K per night hotels, the way they took money, the grifts they employed etc.) There are so many others like Costi on UA-cam etc if folks would just open their eyes, ears and heart - if anything just to see the damage they've done. Having faith in...faith is a recipe for judging those with cancer, in wheelchairs etc who don't experience what are rare healings. People have killed themselves over these false claims that its the victims fault they didn't get healed. It's so twisted, morally bankrupt, hard hearted and evil it's hard to imagine anyone who claims to be a compassionate Christ follower would think yeah this type of spiritual gaslighting is not only OK, but Godly and admirable. These "people" need a tough love reality check (and it will come with their own medical crisis etc I'm afraid - only then it will mostly too late to do much).
Almost all these guys have been exposed...yet the fan boys and girls continue to worship these leaders (key point of difference).

I am sincerely curious, how does this bring glory to God? I was at a meeting in Ventura, CA with John and Carol Arnott. Just like this, there was a lot of talk ABOUT the holy spirit and stories of things that happened to prime peoples minds. But no preaching of the word. After, people lined up to receive laying of hands by John and Carol. I remember standing right next to Carol to observe this phenomenon. She would put her hand on the person and yell, "Woooaaa! ,woooaaaaa!"until the person fell down. A Christian friend that came with me, watched from across the room, shaking his head. He said he couldn't believe I got that close to her. What a show. Maybe people are bored with God and want some signs and wonders to make things exciting. Maybe God works today is boring to you. Better check your motives.
