TFW to Manchester Airport run via Warrington Bank Quay, Chat Moss and Manchester Piccadilly. The Northern services to Manchester Piccadilly diverge from this route at Mickle Trafford junction near Chester and run via Knutsford, Altrincham and Stockport. The 777's are not in service yet.
As mentioned below the gap in the roof was due to an accident in 1971 when an oil train failed to stop and crashed into the Bay No5, BR never bothered to replace the roof so we are just left with the isolated piece. The 777s are due into service late 2022 and throughout 2023 so the old girls have got a little bit of life in them yet! Chester is in it's twilight at the moment, once the 777s and 197s appear we'll lose all the BR sprinters, EMU's and 175s leaving Northen and the 67+Mk4+DVT Sets as the only variety left :( But as a regular (and a local)it's still a gorgeous station even If BR ruined it by getting rid of most of the original features!
It is a shame that our rail network is losing its charm with the lack of rolling stock variety that we used to have, but thank for you for the info in regards to the damaged roof.
Hi Tornado922. Great film at Chester. I enjoyed seeing the Avanti 221 Super Voyager. I will also miss those when they go. Looking forward to next film at the Sandy footbridge. Kind regards, Chris.
A lovely station, I have only travelled through twice, mid sixties and early seventies. There used to be a single box at the end of one of the platforms as well as a footbridge, water tower and I believe a goods shed where those houses & 197's are. Great video & thoroughly entertaining.
It is a great station to come to, I just wish I had the chance to come here back when we had loco hauled services running around the country as the variety would've been amazing to see.
Great video and commentary. You didn't notice the liveries on the 507s n 8s being 2 different colours. One side will be silver grey and the other side will be yellow😊 Red Rum was an Aintree Racecourse champion 3 times back in the 70s,so has connections with the Merseyrail network. Other named sets include,John Peel, Harold Wilson and The Beatles. Tbh I love the PEP units. Will be sad to see them go.
Chester 30 years ago was great.. 47s on the holyhead.. class 20 on the Derby Llandudno.. 37s on the locals to Bangor and summer Saturday trains hauled by anything they could find..
Great video Jared. Chester is a really nice station in the North Wales Line the TFW 197s will be replace the 175s and 158s and maybe 170/2s (will may go to EMR), the 777s from Merseyrail will replace 507s and 508s. Your next station will be Sandy on the ECML
Thanks very much, this is a great station to come to although I do wish there was a little bit more variety to be seen. Hopefully when the new trains take over it won't take away the enjoyment of coming here
The class 507 and 508 trains look the same to me! I have no issues with any of the class 220 and 221 Voyagers at all! I'd happily take the Cross Country ones any day! All of the runs from them that I see at Nottingham tend to be in the hands of class 170 Turbostars though! 43184 for Cross Country incidentally is now in the Intercity Executive livery.
Lovely video, been here once before and I enjoyed it very much, the variety is brilliant with Merseyrail electrics mixing with the TFW/northern/Avanti diesels just to add..would you be going to the DRS open day on the 16th Of July?
Thanks very much, this is a great station to come to although you only really need an hour here in order to catch everything that comes through. Sadly I wasn't able to attend the open day
@@Tornado922 yeah very true. I live on the North wales coast, all we get is the 175s 150s 158s and 156. Oh and the avanti west coast voyager. But honestly your vids are the best. My son is autistic and uses your vids to sleep at night.

It is surprising how many cities are served from Chester, it really is a great hub station
@@Tornado922 it was better 25 years ago when a lot of North Wales trains were 37 hauled and HST's did London - Holyhead.

I really do wish I was around when the railways were at their best with all of the traction that we had running around the country at the time
Brilliant video legend tornado . I am gutted about class 221 . Will take over 805, 807 by avanti west coast
Thanks very much bud, it will be a shame to see the 221's go off the network

I think the 507/508 units are for the most part completely identical. Probably have a few subtle differences
Can you next do underground trainspotting
Underground train spotting is something I probably won't do as there isn't any variety anymore
@@Tornado922 What do u mean
@@Train-series When you look at the London Underground network all the trains are the same, there would be no point in me filming them
@@Train-series I used to do underground trainspotting with someone very close to me. We have been separated and it hurts me a lot.
