It was the opposite for me. I really enjoyed this game as a kid.. never thought it was too hard to control after playing it for a while. I'd probably credit this game as to why I really enjoyed Pebble Beach on Saturn and Wii Sports Golf later on in my life.
My blue Atari logbook(1982) says to play game number 1 with difficulty A. The original green logbook(1970) ranked you Pro, Master and Wizard, whereas the blue one gave different names for each rank for each game. I prefer the green. Pro (Par For the Course): 36 or less, Master (Ready to Turn Pro): 30-26, Wizard (Champion Class): 25 or less. I got this as an adult and didn't do very well. I tried again in 2020 and finally beat par, scoring 35. This stands up well to Odyssey²'s, but Intellivison's blows it away, like all its sports games. Your sprite doesn't have multiple colors like Superman that came out a year earlier. My other complaint is it should have a game select options to play courses 3-9 as "practice" without having to play the whole 9-hole course.
My grandmother actually got this game for me! I don't think I've played it since the '80s. Might be that PGA Tour Golf on the Amiga and Genesis was so much better, might be that golf bores me. But as I watched your video, it occurred to me that this actually was a decent golf game for the time it came out.
@@asadavis9532 I had one of the first heavy-6 2600's in my area, it was $400 for the unit plus $114 each for Space Invaders and Missile Command, you-figure those 1980 numbers...
Sorry but this ain’t it chief. I’ve been trying to learn the game on the switch port “Atari Flashback Classics” I couldn’t do better than 100 strokes on the first course. Good video btw! I like NES Open Tournament Golf for golf games!
You are the first person that I’ve ever seen be able to play this game. This was the bane of my existence when I was a kid. ;)

Worst game on the system that I own. I'd rather play E.T. for an hour (and in fact I have done that...).
I loved Miniature Golf which someone reviewed said it was more like Billiards where you pound the ball around the course with ricochets.
I remember when this game came out! I played it and played it. Even my dad played it and he was a golfer, he loved it! Good Review!
Another solid review of an aging game. Thank you
Figuring out how to position that guy is quite the headache :D
I think this game is surprisingly deep for a 2600 sports game. If someone likes golf and is a 2600 fan..I highly recommend!😁👍
You should check out the game My Golf on the 2600... it's actually like a Golf game :)
@@BriansManCave I didn't recognize this title you mentioned. Might check it out. 😁👍
Great review as always. I was certain this came out in the late 70's though not 1980, as a friend of mine who was into golf had it back then.

How? This should be impossible! This was the bane of little me with an Atari Flashback's existence!

Back in the day that-"was" the golf game you could play on your tv, played it for hours & hours at a time, everyone loved it... 🤗
Miles Campbell that’s crazy to think about 😂

I had fun with this game. Once you figure out how to do it, it can be fun.
How is this better than bugs, the controls are horrible. I understand them, but I just can't get used to them in an enjoyable way...
I love this game.i really don't like these new school video games.lol

Good old Brick Fred Flintstone and his pipe cleaner
Long Dong Golfer
Honestly, I had more fun playing a MS Dos text based golf game than playing this. Isn't there a homebrew Atari golf game that is more realistic?
It shows just how bad the graphics were on the 2600.
They'd learned how to make Superman multi-colored in 1979, so they should have done that for the golfer. Still it's on the same level as Odyssey².
This is a real stinker, would not play it again.
This is just barely above Swordquest: Fireworld for me. One of the worst Atari games I've ever played.
