glad you appreciated the little plug i gave to these girls. if you want to do more i had suggested the song scream for me.one of their major influences are iron maiden and the song is written as a tribute to vocalist bruce dickinson. the live version is great but it keeps getting taken down and probably would get copyrighted anyway so here is a link to the recorded version which is about their most kickass song with 2 solos that will melt you.ua-cam.com/video/vTaAeYFh7hU/v-deo.html

I loved your reaction and review. The only thing that I would take issue with is in your remarks regarding the individual musicians. Now don''t get me wrong; I agree with every word you say. Asami is an extraordinary vocalist not onl;y with the kind of voice that sends shivers down your spine but with a gloriously over the top stage presence.... a consummate performer. The two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, are justly praised by everybody for their remarkable talent and profiency while most people have nothing but good things to say about Haruna; the pocket sized drum beast! The one person who is nearly always overlooked however is the bass player Miho. Most reviews never even mention the bass but Miho is the driving force at the back of that band. It was Miho who founded Lovebites and she is the band leader and a major song writer for them. Her bass lines tend to go unnoticed under the ultra high speed shredding of Midori and Miyako but listen for them carefully and you will be astonished at the complexity and virtuosity of her bass playing. She is the unsung glue that gels all the luscious madness together and her talent desreves more recognition than it receives.

The band formed in 2016 the drummervand base player were in another band called Destrose which broke up so tbey decided to form a new band . They discovered the two guitarists doing variuos back up work one of them was learning classical piano when she discovered guitar in her teens the vocalist was an R&B singer and had no knowledge of metal until she met the rest of the band . They were reheassing a cover song Halestorms Love Bites and so do I which they thought really suited the vocalists voice so they took part of the title of that song as their band name Lovebites . You were right with their influences they have performed with Dragoforce and some of their influences are bands such as Iron maiden Judas Priest just to mention a couple . Thanks for the great reaction hope to see some more this band deserves all the exposure they can get. There are a couple of official music videos plus there is the Daughters of the Dawn video which is a live show on youtubs with about 1HR 47Mins of awesomeness

They were literally designed to be a UK/European band, lyrics in English, explicitly styled after Maiden & late Priest. They use Spanish artists, Finnish mastering, and their first “full length show” was at the Underworld barely 2.5yrs ago, barely 6 months before playing Wacken & Bloodstock(opening for Priest). Download & Graspop, and tour with Dragonforce 2019. They’ll be back! ua-cam.com/video/6ouEfglrMOg/v-deo.html

Excellent reaction! Power metal is one of my favorite sub-genres as well. I've been listening to this band a lot lately. Looking forward to future reactions. I confess, I haven't delved into the background on these ladies as I have others, like Band Maid. But I have seen interesting info. It's been said Asami sang R&B before joining this band. That's quite a contrast! Glad we have her in metal now! It's also been said this band's main influence is Iron Maiden. You can certainly hear that in the duel guitars where, as you said, they compliment each other rather than competing.....and Asami is a female Bruce Dickinson if I ever heard one. They were recently on tour with Dragonforce and there are videos floating around where they're on stage together!

My first reaction on your channel. You know your stuff and I really appreciate that. About the singer Asami, she was previously a backup (!) singer in gospel and r n' b bands. I think gospel especially helped her to develop that strong lyrical heartfull style. Lovebites is an amazing band with an impressive catalogue for such a young band - and a pretty good catalogue! And they're better live ...

    Well well... Japan is different
There´s a lot of all female bands in Japan. From punk to power metal, hard rock, garage rock even ska... a lot
You can blame the japanese school system, were playing an instrument is mandatory in a lot of secondary schools. Just put hundred of thousands of people to lean to play any instrument and you at the end must have some very good players. Just "statistics"
Also a lot of bands in Japan do those "duels" but not really duels but complementing each other. Maybe the reason behind is a different culture with a lot of influences from the buddhism where collaboration is above competition. Really a lot of incredible players in this country are really humble and a lot of them after doing something like that you see in this video they say "i´m still learning"
Lovebites have at now 3 studio albums and 1 live, also the producers of Lovebites are Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila, The same producers of people like Nightwish and Stratovarius among others.
The metal all female band idea comes from a long time ago, one of the most famous all metal bands with a really long trajectory is Aldious (from 2008). Another power metal band but maybe more in the melodic side. They change some members along the years (twice the vocalist and others...) and they are also a really nice band to see, especially life because their members are really happy on stage with a lot of smiles. I´m gonna allow myself to put an example
    ua-cam.com/video/tgH8-npq86Y/v-deo.html
Nice reaction and good analysis. I really don´t like a lot of reactions who only say "vote me, gime me money" and only put the video and do nothing else. People do no need to see someone seeing a video and only say "oh... wonderful, very nice" and end of it. Comments and analysis are some added value very apreciated

Jose Manuel Perez in this case they really are still learning. Not like like BandMaid rhythm guitarist Miku’s learning on stage, but both lovebites guitarists Midori & Miyako started late (ages 20 & 19) and are approximately 30 now. I got decent in 10years, but not world conqueringly decent 😉

They are '80s metal fans, Iron Maiden is a big influence. Their name comes from the Halestorm song "Love Bites (So Do I)". The vocalist Asami has sung the song with Halestorm at Download festivals in the UK and Japan. Haruna is a 4 foot 11 inch demon on the drums. The dark-haired guitarist Miyako is a classical pianist, in the middle of their Zepp Tokyo concert, the band takes a break, and she plays Chopin's Etude Opus 10 No. 11 on a baby grand. They toured with Dragonforce in the UK. And they have played at the Wacken and Bloodstock festivals. No concerts in the US yet :-( though both the guitarists appeared at the big NAMM music trade show in LA. As noted by others, the band founders Miho and Haruna came from the all women metal band Destrose. Besides Lovebites, Mary's Blood and Fate Gear are two other all-female metal bands that came from Destrose. If you like all women metal bands, Japan is the place to look. Aldious, Bridear, Fate Gear, Lovebites, Mary's Blood, Nemophila, Show-ya, and many more.
I hope there is nothing serious with your ear.

That’s yet another thing that makes them amazing. Although they’ve been brewing since 2016, and now have over 40 songs and 7-8 releases!, they didn’t play a “full length show” until 2.5yrs, ago, yet they played Wacken only 6months later. They are open about their influences (Helloween for the drummer for instance), and even say what their producer coached them to mimic (Gary Moore, Yngvie, the usual 😉), but the trick is the writing, not only half the solos are harmonized and thus must be written memorized rehearsed, but they are often over a completely different section of music, a piece within a piece, that’s the 6minute secret...
Long comment eh. I’m new here, sounds like this could be on the border of what you like. Band of similar... make up, but I especially thought of them because the opposite of Haruna’s relentless drum style, Akane plays different beats, seemingly every half verse or half chorus, lots of dynamics... try their newest, live dvd clip from most recent Valentine’s Day.
    Band-Maid - Domination

I love your reaction. Spot on with your observations.
Haruna runs a double marathon as a sprinter during their concerts playing the drums.
They are my Power Metal obsession. Although this song was described by Guitarist on right who wrote the music for this masterpiece as melodic speed metal.
Could you hear a little pit of Ritchie Blackmore in the solos? I can. Something like from Highway Star (Deep Purple) or A Light in the Black (Rainbow).
Speaking of Ritchie Blackmore, I heard a rumor, or maybe I made up a rumor that he heard Lovebites. Afterwards he packed up his guitars and Candace Night drove him to Hudson Bay and he chucked all of his guitars in the bay. Well. Maybe I did make that up, but that is how great and talented these bad ass metal princesses are.

Have bought all their albums etc. Totally enjoy their music, and that's from someone who avoided heavy metal in the 70s through to 2017 . Oh a quick shout-out to Miho who plays bass. Often overlooked as she doesn't grab the spotlight but provides the basis for all the songs. Their official music videos often contain adverts because that's their record company. Other Japanese all-female bands you might want to check out include Aldious, Bridear, Fate Gear, Mary's Blood and Destrose.

Wonderful analyze! 😀 A band I just couldnt stop listening to, after discovering them. Bought almost everything instantly. Three albums with almost only full steam. I have two blurays. An almost new one, called Daughters of the dawn, is 1 hour 45 min full speed, almost from start to finish. The stamina of this band is incredible. Especially the drummer, Haruna. She even smiles most of the time. I can add its a bunch of very tiny ladies. I think Haruna is less than 5 foot of loveliness 😊

Good to see them get coverage. You missed the recent Live streaming of their concerts they've done on their channel with the cancellation of shows. They had their Wacken set just the other day.
When Destinies Align is so so. Not the first song I'd recommend. Shadowmaker is really good.
Some of the better live songs got deleted recently. But there's a live version of Addicted - the opening song to their live DVD Daughters of the dawn. Solid track. Empty Daydream is another - one of their softer songs, really showcases Asamis voice.
They probably would have toured the US this year if it wasn't for the Corona virus.

Like Aldious, Galneyrus, X-japan, Doll$boxx... and not at least Babymetal and Band-maid. The last band has become a kind of favourite with their melodic hardrock with some prog-elements. Doll$Boxx might not be your style, and most of their songs are uplifting &/or include electronica , but this song is darker and more ... stable? It’s powermetal singer Fuki (Unlucky Morpheus, Lightbringer, 4 others...) and Gacharic Spin musicians (extremely talented goofballs with very eclectic high energy tastes), and the song is about the last dragon banished to cry tears of blood from the stars forever, in English drummer sings “dominated the ancient world wars, his name is Dragonet”. One of my favs, hope you like.

@@timgove5337 I'm not too fond of the electronic elements hence Dragonet being my fav track of them. Though I'm fine with it being incorporated once in a while to switch things up a bit.
Btw that duet solo from Loud twin stars was so freakin cool that it almost made me change my whole perspective on this genre... I've never seen anyone else do that, atleast i haven't come across any prior to that maybe coz i've always avoided anything electro in general.
The first time i heard it, a big bang went off in my head like "Wait! you can actually do that? this is genius...!"
I hope they release more stuff soon.

DLastOne2go Relentless is definitely the word. All the way back to early thrash I’ve been the same way, tho some days an album’s worth. And same with electronics, Gacharic Spin finally had me come round, with the point being “why so serious? It’s just a show...” Still wanting more guitar in the mix, their newest does that; now I’m fanboy for the first time in my life, so of course it’s great right?, but it’s just more “stable” not sure it would’ve hooked me 5years ago. As a musician tho, they’re so impressive, maybe... As productionwise, always more to hear. I used to say “too dense, overproduced”. Now “they changed my life!” Ha!

I recommend you (all) to check out The band which started all that a bit later booming trend of awesome Japanese all-female (or at least fronted) metal etc harder rocking bands, Destrose! Yep they came out (of nowhere) already 10 years ago, and have sadly broken up already....but some members in other bands atm still, quite easy to find out in which. ;-)
Here´s one of their truly Awesome tracks "Rin", just L

Great reaction to a great group of world class musicians, no try Mary's Blood Marionette (ua-cam.com/video/MLM2unV0kwU/v-deo.html) and let Rio's bass and Saki's fingers of steel blend that old Judas Priest sound. If you want some real progressive metal try Asterism Rising Moon (ua-cam.com/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/v-deo.html) and watch some supremely talent Japanese teens blend Metal, Hard Rock and Jazz into a instrumental masterpiece, now that they just graduated high school look out!!!

If you want to review a metal band that is big in Japan but very few know of outside of it, and that many reviewers miss ( because the milita is small for this band ).
    Checkout Versailles - Faith and decision ( m.ua-cam.com/video/AdhfE6ITfoQ/v-deo.html ).

Came here because UA-cam algorithm sent me here lol. LOVEBITES is great. But no Babymetal reactions yet? Don't dismiss them because of the naysayers who call them a gimmick. They're an amazingly awesome gimmick. A musical act with a heavy metal soundtrack and choreography. What could be better than that? Just try them out once. Power metal? Sure, Babymetal has that too. Try Road of Resistance live in Japan. ua-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/v-deo.html

Yep Babymetal/Band-Maid. You can't go wrong. Foot note regarding Babymetal - if you fall into the fox hole and start 'the journey' with the history you're in for a beautiful ride. Especially Sakura Gakuin content.

I love Japan, but I'm not impressed. The composition was pretty boring and simple, there was not much variation, some tempo change and the guitar solos (which was good). The strangely English chorus of the song was poor, not catchy at all. Her vocals were decent but I wasn't feeling that power metal high energy, maybe she was drowned by the instruments too much. Japan and Korea make these pretty model girl bands, they fish in the pop idol waters. What I mean is the image and characters and fandom become super important. Edit: oh, she sings the whole song in English? Completely missed it, only the "Carry on" was caught my ears so clearly.

Uh, no. They were not formed by a management company. This band was formed by the bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Both were in another defunct band called Destrose. Also, try their first album called "Awakening from Abyss." I think you might like them. The whole album is on YT. Give it a try. All their songs are in English except for one song. They have three albums out so far. I think they are great. Metal genre is pretty niche in Japan. Even this song is about them saying they are going to overcome the struggles of current metal scene in the world and their desire to rekindle and blossom the metal music again. I really give them props for them to sticking it out in metal music in Japan. It's tough for them.

@@fastskipper777 Yeah, I'm sure it's much more popular in Japan being a pop music band. Well, I really didn't get an urge from this to go listen another song, but it is the first song I listened, and one song just isn't enough to tell everything about a band.

In all my hype, I forgot to mention why I love this music video. For me, it feels like Japan and a lot of European countries spend a lot more money on their music videos, and this puts them above most music videos since they can do more and produce something polished and eyecatching like this :)
