“Amen” is based on music the composer heard growing up in the African-American Pentecostal church. In these services, music is used to elicit a deep spiritual experience and would often involve the congregation breaking out into dance, shouting, and soulful singing!

I can't believe Carlos Simon created a whole piece based off of the Hebron High School 2021 trombone feature! It also just occured to me that I met the composer of this piece which is kinda crazy...
This came before the show, wrong order. Hebron based the feature off of this
