This crew flirted with whiteface rock at the very start. They had no idea how close to disaster they actually came... hence the need for my encouraging voice and tone. Paddling effectively requires physical exertion but is far easier than swimming in high water.
I'm currently a guide in Colorado and am not a strong paddle guide. Next season I would like to to work on the Ocoee do any of the companies run oar rigs or is it crucial to learn to paddle guide?
Best trip EVER! You have no idea how much we enjoyed that day. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! You turned fear into pure adrenaline high. Yahoo. Thank you again Fred will never raft again without you!
There is no substitute for high water, but rafters that are out of shape do put there life at risk. A dozen or so have paid the price on the Ocoee. Fred's knowledge of the river proves there is no substitute for experience.
There should e more days like this on the river. I always thought the rapid progression was Broken nose, slice and dice and second helping, then moon shoot.
Why, just Shy don't they have planned high water days on the Ocoee. It would bet all those rafters that live near, within a couple hundred miles, the incentive to come back and do the high water.

How was your rafting adventure?
It’s not my choice, the River decides. Been there…and still there are those who hear their own drummer. Nice leadership
good stuff Fred!
Thank you, David. Just trying to pay one forward.

There is a difference of opinion among outfitters regarding names. I am rather neutral but often adopt the names of where I am working at the moment.
Whats a "normal CFS" on Ocoee river? Your crew seemed unmotivated this trip. Cant wait to book a trip with yall in the future, maybe 2022!
Normal is 1250 cfs

You are not the first to suggest this.
That's fun Fred
Thanks Elvy, this is a bit of a rare treat but 2013 and 2014 were wet years so if could happen again.
He had to throw in “I travel. I been to Ecuador “
Big water is common in the Andes. Much more like high water in the Southeast than normal flows in the Southeast.
@@FastFredRuddock I thought this river was dam controlled. How can they make it higher flow
Mother nature can overcome the best manmade controls.
