I must have got lucky mate. My wife bought me one and I pumped up the front and rear tyres on my Goldwing, 38lbs in the front, 40lbs in the rear and then 34lbs in one of my tyres of my car with no problem at all. Maybe you hadn't charged it fully. Mine didn't get hot either.

I bought the same one they are useless like you say just pack in after a certain time mine didn’t even reach the pressure I needed before packing in 🤬
