Back in the days these were called side braids/side cornrows and most of us were forced to wear these braids to school because schools in Jamaica as i remembered didn't allow girls to wear extensions or designer hairstyles, we were only allow to wear our natural hair cornrow backwards or down to the side hence the name side braids but after the passing of the famous rapper popsmoke who wore this hairstyle on a regular, many people now call the hairstyle popsmoke braids in memory of the late rapper. RIP POPSMOKE
