My biggest surprise of the year? My mom thought Frozen Empire was better than Afterlife. In all seriousness though, she does have her reasons, and that’s not really a movie. The real biggest surprise of the year for me was Inside Out 2. I loved the first Inside Out, but with the statements that Pixar has said about sequels and remakes, it made me very nervous for their future, and I was scared that this would be an early representation of what that could look like. However, it ended up being in my top ten favorite Pixar movies! It was just refreshing to feel that magic that old Pixar had, and it had a wonderful message to send to people my age. The Fall Guy was a small disappointment, but still great, and the Monkey Man was a huge disappointment for me, being nothing like anybody was claiming it to be.
It makes me sad to say that Kung Fu Panda 4 is my biggest disappointment of the year. This film was easily one of my most anticipated 2024 films. All the fans were SO excited. But in the end it had nothing special or interesting about it. It wasted everything and it has no reason to exist. No furious five was just unforgivable and instantly makes the film weak. Casting bloody Akwiafina AGAIN, as the new dragon warrior, of all characters. It doesn't have the same, magic, flair and humor as the other three. And then the villains return, which was cool, but its so hard to believe its actually them because they act insanely out of character. Shen and Kai dont have a single word of dialogue, no fight scenes. Tai Lung had lines but still acted out of character. All three villains literally bow down to Po in respect and they're all happy to go back to the spirit realm. They dont jump at the chance to escape and fight Po. All three of them tried to kill Po. Like wtf? Not realistic at all. Its hard to believe this film is canon. If the furious five were in the film, if Tai lung or tigress became the new dragon warrior and if the villains acted in character, the movie would have been amazing
Biggest disappointments for me would be Argylle, Civil War, Spaceman, and The Bikeriders. Argylle was way too goofy and meta for me and it was paired with some bad cgi. Civil War is the movie I enjoyed the most out of these, but my expectations got the best of me because I was hoping to enjoy it more than I actually did. Everything about Spaceman was extremely forgettable other than the Adam Sandler performance and visuals at the end. The Bikeriders felt very generic at the end of the day, and while the performances were great I didnt feel like the characters were all that interesting.
Just got out of Kalki 2898 AD. I would say that was disappointing for me. It felt so much like all these other sci-fi films I’ve watched with the only other thing to offer being slow motion. It was better than Rebel Moon though, but still disappointed after seeing all the hype.
@@SamRock007-rf1ue haven't seen it yet but if it felt like other sci-fi films as he says, then maybe there isn't enough indian-ness in the fantasy/sci-fi of the film? which could've set it apart from Hollywood's fantasy /sci-fi. They should stop copying Hollywood & do their own thing. Putting more indian aesthetics (maybe even ONLY indian aesthetics) could be a way. the game raji is a good example. Even if it's set in the future, probably could've been designed with no Hollywood visuals. Could be misjudging what he means but that's my opinion either way. Regardless I'm looking forward to watching it today.
I watched it. Enjoyed it for the most part. some dialogues & the first action comedy scene i cringed at. I didn't fall for the hype cuz i didn't watch the trailers. Never fall for hype especially for a new thing you don't know. Fanboys can hype up anything.
I have a hot take for you all. I think that Game of Thrones season 8 is good Yes episode 4 is the worst and the ending is slightly rushed but it doesn't deserve the amount of hate it gets is unwarranted

To me my big surprise was the beekeeper I couldn’t believe how much I loved it. My biggest disappointment was the strangers chapter one
Civil War and Furiosa surprised me. I can’t think of any movies that out right disappointed me
I already know what’s going to be the number one disappointment.
Thelma.
Best surprise of 2024.
Argylle was a surprise for me, mainly because all the bad reviews. I really enjoyed it
11:41 yeah, just took most of its inspiration from the final destination
The Fall guys Video game was better
Waiting for your kalki review.
Just got out of Kalki 2898 AD. I would say that was disappointing for me. It felt so much like all these other sci-fi films I’ve watched with the only other thing to offer being slow motion. It was better than Rebel Moon though, but still disappointed after seeing all the hype.
It's disappointing for you because you don't know the Indian mythology and thus couldn't connect with the story but it's a blockbuster in India.
One thing that all xenomorphs are females only?
This movie was the best Indian movie of 2024 for me ❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
I have a hot take for you all.
I think that Game of Thrones season 8 is good
Yes episode 4 is the worst and the ending is slightly rushed but it doesn't deserve the amount of hate it gets is unwarranted
Surprises:
Inside Out 2
Knuckles
IF
Winnie dah Pooh 2
Disappointments:
Furiosa
Garfield (it was good though)
Megamind 2 (burn! burn! BURN!!!!)
Unsure:
Kung Fu Panda 4
He is wrong. Madame Web is not a disappointment. It got unnecessary hate
You’re right, it wasn’t a disappointment because no one had any expectations for it
Yep I liked it.
Madame Web is a bad movie and we all know it by now.
